As I found out the absolutely necessary steps are the following: - detach USB HD; - connect HD to PC and delete [.squeezbox] folder; - powerdown Touch; - connect HD back to Touch; - turn on Touch; - turn on HD if selfpowered; - start tinySBS. When I did these steps without turning off the Touch it went out of its memory every time and crashed at 99%. Is there a way to transfer my itunes folders from my desktop to my USB storage in order to avoid scan from TinySBS (as you know from my thread I've never had a complete library scan). Is it going to work? How does it work? TinySBS recognizes Itunes library and doesn't need to scan? Do I need to do anything to insert Itunes library to tinySBS? I know that maybe is a supeficial cleaning but again I did wipe and rescan and it crashed at 99% with just 1 second left to complete, that means there are problems yet? Is there a way to see what files are corrupted? because I checked log messages and I don't see any "error scan" or something like this. I can't checked my 7.000 folders (yeah, I was very wrong about my 3.000, I wish they were...) You can maintain Touch adopted version of your library... you need a backup anyway. I have 2TB mirrored NAS for backup and 1Tb HDD carefully setup to run my Touch without all those issues. Thanks Mike but I would like to keep embedded images in my mp3 files cause I like to have album art in my ipod or whatever. To create my mp3 tags I use Tag&rename, and I can't do what you say in Mp3tag, which I guess is not a free program. Just put cover.jpg in each album folder, then using mp3tag editor delete all embedded images from your library. I've never use mp3tag but sure it can do that job for you. I did about the same. My cover.jpg's were 1500x1500 so I manualy resized them and it took not more than a few days. I've got aprox 700GB of musuic, never counted the number of albums though, but think that quite a lot. As I see there is no other way than to reduce sizes from cover files to less than 120 kb. Knowing that I probably used image files larger than 500 kb, thah those were gif, jpg and even BMP, that in some album folders I saved pdf of lyrics and stuff...I reconsidering what to do, I got about 3.000 albums and resizing images and again embedding cover to mp3 files is a hell of a job, Ive been working on this library about 2 years and this would mean one year more at least. It's ridiculous that an ipod library can manage all that stuff with no problem and a device like Squeezebox which looks more powerful got so many problems. I had a similar problem at first. I could never finish a complete scan with an attached HDD. What worked for me was having each album folder with only the music files (FLAC, mp3) and just ONE cover.jpg (not much larger than 500x500) per album folder. I discarded some music folders in order to see If there were any with problems and again it crashes at 99% scanned, what can be wrong? I dischard the "mdm" option because I could take me months, we are talking about 3000 albums I didnt have a successful initial scan, so I don't know how to make it, I'm wondering whether to install 7.5.0 firmware because I got 7.6.0 and maybe this firmware is causing problems. If you haven't then the scanner is most likely running all the time which is guaranteed to cause all kinds of problems. A large collection may take many hours for the initial scan. Why my squeezebox server stops from time to time? I got connect it through ethernet and my hard drive never goes to sleep as far as I know (it's a Lacie's Stark 1 Tb) and when I do erase the library and rescan I get a "squeezebox server stopped" after 2 or three hours Is it a problem of internet connection or my hard drive?
