A file with the tags Baroque and 24bit/96kHz at the same time will appear in both, *Audiophile* and *Classical*. It's nice to have those sub-genres to create random mixes, but I would simplify all my genres if needed in order to make the browsing menu look like I previously posted (I could live without cross-references and without *Audiophile*.) Hello Quad, Just a quick question, you mention you use sub-genres, how do you accomplish this? Do you create a custom field? Do you use one of the existing tag fields? I find I classify a lot of music as rock but I need sub-genres (pop, alternative, classic, etc...). [SlimDevices: Touch] The Ing is coming
My Touch has been running perfectly well for the last two days. The quick and hasslefree setup with the touch screen is a joy. The things I like the most over the Duet are: - touch screen - native support for HE-AAC (mysqueezebox.com is now sufficient for my favorite radio stations) - 24bit/96kHz support (I don't claim that I can distinguish 24/96 from 24/48 but it's state of the art and I like the idea that my carefully recorded and/or remastered hi-res material can be played back without transcoding. Period.) - rock stable - WOL works after coming back from mysqueezebox.com - no rebuffering at all regardless FLAC compression level and bitrate (external server is wired to the router, Touch is wireless) sound quality (To my ears, to my brain and to my ass even the SPDIF out into the same DAC sounds better than the Duet. If you somehow think that's impossible, feel free to do so, but don't waste your time answering me. For me it's an impressive fact and the usual subjective price/sound correlation can be sorted out at USD 300.) There is literally ONE thing read my lips ONE thing that I'm missing. (I'm not Bill Clinton, you can trust me.) There should be a more customizable browsing menu in 'SqueezeOS'. The only reason why I have to run an external server and can't use the embedded one is the excellent CustomBrowse plugin by Erland. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] The Ing is coming
Hi from Scotland UK. So you like it then? See, it IS better than a Duet ;) I got mine earlier today, setup in minutes playing from external server. Love everthing about it honestly, sound into my Dac is sublime. Did a comparison with analogue outs, which while better than my old SB3 ain't a patch on the digital out. Will be even better once te Touch burns in ;) cheers... Logitech will never do something as flexible as Custom Browse but if you can describe exactly which menus/hierarchies that would be needed for you to accept the built-in server there might be a way to accomplish something. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77728 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Hi Erland I don't use all the functionalities of CustomBrowse regularly But my browsing structure looks like this thanks to your plugin: -My Music -Audiophile -Album -Classical -Composer -Album -Jazz -Artist -Album -Pop -Artist -Album If there would be a possibility to browse by composer at the top level together with artist and album, this would already be a huge improvement as the composer field is populated within classical music only. erland;538945 Wrote: What browsing functionality are you missing ? Erland, my Custom Browse menus are broken with the Touch interface. In particular, Play All does not work. The play button on the remote works fine. I probably should do a formal bug report (where?) The problem is similar to those I had with iPeng, and which I've already discussed here at length with Pippen. So far what I like about the Touch: * Being able to choose different radio streams. * Doubles as a nice looking digital clock. It does seem to have brought sound quality up a notch even using the digital coax out, but that may just be the coolness factor affecting my judgement. -- Daverz Daverz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32335 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77728 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
