Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I am lost
With my Duet and SBS on Win7 x64 I found it was really the firewall inbound rule for TCP that was the problem. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=618826&postcount=12 -- w3wilkes 2 Duets - 1 for upstairs and 1 for downstairs w3wilkes's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22973 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87691 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I am lost
Its most likely UDP thats causing the problem. The players and the server use UDP multicasts to find each other. Once they find each other they talk via TCP/IP. A lot firewalls have UDP blocked for some reason. With UDP blocked SBS can send music to the player, but neither can tell the other exists! Fantastic call on the Windows Firewall! I turned it off and things started to work. I just had to find out how to turn it back on without hosing things again. I followed this advice http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82652 Thanks again for your help JJZolx! -- onanboy onanboy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=46081 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87691 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Some other things you you might try (one at a time): - Turn the Windows firewall completely off. Just in case there's still something that might be blocking the connection. - Download and install the latest nightly of SBS 7.5.5 beta. This is an updated version of 7.5.4 release, containing only minor bug fixes since the release. http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.5 - Download and install 7.6.0 firmware on the Touch. You would need the following file. Place the following file on an SD card, in the root directory, then reboot the Touch. I've never had any problems running 7.6 firmware with a 7.5 server. fab4_7.6.0_r9441.bin http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/7.6.0 I have seen the problem you describe, but honestly don't know what causes it. It seems to happen with any of the SqueezePlay-based devices or software. I run a lot of beta software and firmware, so it could be changes in software that clears it up, but I could swear that most of the times it just fixes itself eventually. -- JJZolx JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87691 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Have you tried doing a factory reset of the Touch? To do a factory reset hold down the reset button on the back for 15 seconds or so, until you see a message displayed about resetting settings. -- JJZolx JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87691 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

You should see the Touch there. Thanks for the quick reply. Yes it has an IP address 198.162.0.9. It connects via a wired connection. The ports all ping OK. Just not the server or the library. -- onanboy onanboy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=46081 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87691 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I am lost
Is the Touch connected via wired ethernet or wireless? The first thing I'd do is make sure the Touch is connecting to the network correctly. On the Touch go to Settings > Advanced > Diagnostics > then either Wireless Info or Ethernet Info. Make sure that the Touch is getting an IP address from your DHCP server that is on your network. If you see a 169.254.x.x address, then it did not. If you're connecting wirelessly, you might see if your wireless router has an admin web page where you can see all connected wifi clients. You should see the Touch there. -- JJZolx JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87691 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
