Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch works as a controller ?
Here's a link to the android net::UDAP interface thread. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?76584-Beta-SqueezeConfig-UDAP-Config-tool-for-Android&highlight=flatterman The tough part is finding a copy. Seems like someone recently asked for a copy and someone else had it! I would guess that you also have to have the controller app to go with it. Maybe someone else could verify this. 2 Duets - 1 for upstairs and 1 for downstairs Rock Solid with LMS 7.7.3 and WHS 2011 w3wilkes's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22973 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=3 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

To setup the Receiver you would need to use SB Duet Controller or the Net::UDAP command-line utility. I believe there is also some Android-based software that can be used to setup a Receiver, but I forget the name. aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=3 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

But you couldn't use the TOUCH to "setup" a receiver. You can also use the RADIO to control another squeezebox player. *Location 1:* VortexBox (2.2) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Location 2:* VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.8 > SqueezePlay *Spares:* VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=3 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch works as a controller ?
All the info you need is on the Joggler Forum http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/ My ID and Avatar are identical on that forum. My own Joggler runs a linux distribution based on Ubuntu but with no Window manager or GUI other than the Linux version of Squeezeplay, which is essentially the open source version of the Touch and radio interface. If you've used a touch before you'll be instantly at home. Setting up is as simple as writing an .IMG file to a USB stick, inserting in the Joggler and rebooting. The author of SqueezePlayOS as he calls it has even written some specific Jive applets to assist with Joggler specific set up and configuration, including an option to automatically download and install LMS and also another one to enable Airplay Support via Shairport :-) If you want to start a new thread over on the Joggler forum go ahead and I'll respond in more detail there without getting this thread derailed too much. There's at least 2 regulars in common between here and there that I know of ( myself and Castalla) Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4 jimbobvfr400's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56857 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=3 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch works as a controller ?
OK, get it now, so if you want something that does what that does, but is not EOL, then you have to pay big bucks, and if you want to pay £40 odd, then you can't get that power/feature set. Out of interest, where did you get/install the software for LMS/video/controller? the controller software looks just like the touch, however when i view LMS in a browser it looks different, is that just what the PC based player looks like? I use a media streamer for video, however for the "den" this would be great if it could just be hooked up to a projector or PC, can you connect it to network and stream from NAS to monitor/projector? or is your PS3 doing the decoding work? Thanks again, looks like a really good option now! wcndave's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=3 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

The Joggler is essentially an Atom based small PC in a 7" touch screen form factor. As its a PC it runs various versions of Linux, Windows XP and there's even a version of Android available. If you want a nicely built piece of quality hardware to plug in and leave on a fixed location then the Joggler fits the bill. My main Joggler runs LMS, including various plugins, serves videos to my PS3 and acts as one of my main SB players including 24/96 files via a USB DAC. All at the same time. This is it installed in a false wall [image: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/11/ygapujed.jpg] And this is the other one free standing on my amp in another room. [image: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/11/uqyrytaj.jpg] If all you want is a cheap controller then yes a cheap android tab would be ideal. If you want a cheaper way rather than "wasting" an expensive Touch get yourself a 2nd hand O2 Joggler and install squeezeplay on it. Might be tricky if you're in the U.S.A but for my fellow British forumites a very good solution. The Joggler can also be a player on its own and with a decent USB DAC can be the equal of a Touch IMO. Not > something I intend to do really, but wasn't expecting it... I use Touches all over my house as controllers of other players, and they are fantastic for that purpose. Touch on my nightstand to control the Touch hooked up to the stereo across the room, Touch on the kitchen counter to control the SB3 controlling a stereo in the other room (with the B speakers from that stereo in the kitchen ceiling), Touch on my home office desk controlling a pair of synced Radios across the room (one playing L channel, one R channel). Squeezebox Touch was the best product in the line, and really had some untapped usage potential. The big issue with the touch interface for that product is that the common use case had it physically placed (e.g., in an AV stack) where you aren't using the touch interface. As a dedicated controller though, it rocks. cheers, #!/ben Former Logitech Developer: Squeezeplay/SqueezeOS/SqueezeboxController/SqueezeCenter Community Developer: Nokia770Skin (r.i.p.) http://www.last.fm/user/bklaas/ 'KHAAAN!' Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch works as a controller ?
Yes. I'm using one now in that manner. I don't currently have a place in my house for my Touch as a player. But I have a Transporter in my living room, a Radio in my bathroom, and an SB2 on top of the kitchen cabinets that I usually keep in sync. I have the Touch sitting on the kitchen table, controlling the Transporter, so I can easily control music throughout the house using its convenient interface.
