What I discovered under the microscope was the little contacts on the
bottom of the rubber pad were worn, well mainly the ones that are used
more often. So I cut small pieces of alfoil and put them under neath the
pad so at least there was some better contact area. It is working now
but I wont rely on it. Thanks for looking!

Any of the SB IR remotes will work on the Touch.  Might find an
SB3/Classic remote for sale by itself (SB broken?).  But the remote
buttons are slightly different.

Another option is to buy a cheap programmable IR remote with JVC_DVD
codes, these codes also work on all SB players including Radio and
Touch.  I got one for under $3 US at a discount/closeout store long ago,
works fine with all my SB players.  This will at least give you basic
playback and menu navigation control,  But again, not all buttons will
be operable for more advanced operations (which you can use the Harmony
for).
