good news! thanks for all of the very helpful responses! it's so effing simple.. the batch that i had trouble with, about 20, i ripped them all at the same time, while i was working. my theory, based on vast experience;), is that my pc might have been to hot and the rom was probably at its limits..it's 9 years old! so now, if i rip 1 at a time. it works. sorry i didnt figure that out earlier..thanks again citabria327's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39378 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110949 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] rip question
It helps to fully understand the CD to FLAC process, and EAC is really good because it tells you what's going on in the process, step by step. What happens when you click on the CMP button is that EAC rips the content to WAV, then applies the compression defined in this section below. The compression could be anything you want to use. In this case the settings you see are default for EAC using FLAC - note that EAC contains the FLAC compression engine in one of its folders. 28198 +---+ |Filename: EAC-compression-options.png | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=28198| +---+ Chris :) Stratmangler's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20387 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110949 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

The idea is to use the Browse button to locate flac.exe on your system, rather than copy the path that Apesbrain has on his system. I haven't used EAC in years but it used to come with a rather old version of flac.exe. It worked but some prefer to download a more recent version. On my W7 system the version that came with EAC is in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Exact Audio Copy\Flac\flac.exe Your music files are on your external hard drive "I". Suggest you 'download latest version' (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/en/index.php/resources/download/) of EAC and run "'Configuration Wizard' (https://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=EAC_Configuration_Wizard)" again selecting "accurate results" and FLAC as your output format. Rip another CD and report results here. Also, on the chance that you've corrupted something in your LMS install 'download latest here' (http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/index.php?ver=7.9) and reinstall over your existing LMS. Are the resulting FLACs playable by other software e.g. Foobar 2000 ? If so then how are you copying the files to your LMS music folder ?
