[Touch-packages] [Bug 1292183] Re: Gmail password dialog box does not work and also can render the desktop useless after login

Title:
Gmail password dialog box does not work and also can render the
  desktop useless after login

Status in “gcr” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After each login a dialog box appears to enter the password of my
gmail mailbox. However even if I type the correct password, the dialog
box reappears. It seems it's totally unimportant if I type the correct
or some incorrect password. The only thing which helps is to cancel
the dialog box two times. The more important problem however: the
dialog box does not appear immediately after the login, sometimes
dozens of seconds pass. If I open some application, terminal, etc, it
can cause problems especially if the app is in fullscreen mode: then
the dialog box made the desktop unusable, I can't change between
windows, I can't type, etc (I have to switch to text console, and
stop/start lightdm to cure the problem ... the other workaround is to
wait after the login the dialog box to appear cancel it two times and
then I can work, but that's a bit hmmm odd). I know the problem is
with the dialog box, as I can see through the terminal window, since
it's set to be somewhat transparent.

It's in this way since upgraded to 13.10 (and now in 14.04 too), one
of the main motivation to upgrade to 14.04 was to avoid this very
annoying feature. However it seems it's still a problem.

Unfortunately I have no idea which app/setting/etc made the system to
ask this password and why the correct password is not accepted :( Only
today I got some hint by swithing into text console and digging in the
process list. It seems there is a process which onky can be found
  during this problem: /usr/lib/gcr/gcr-prompter

That's why I send this report against the gcr package as it seems to
  own that file.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1044549] Re: The Access Prompt randomly pop up!

2014-08-20 Thread alcachi
The accounts.conf file is also used by the new Ubuntu online accounts
configuration. The problem seems to be that after an upgrade the old
entry from the original Gnome online accounts application is left. The
new online accounts utility adds entries after the previous one which is
the one causing the problem.

This is the old entry in my case:

[Account account_1388648527]
Provider=google
Identity=x...@gmail.com
PresentationIdentity=x...@gmail.com
MailEnabled=true
CalendarEnabled=true
ContactsEnabled=true
ChatEnabled=true
DocumentsEnabled=true

Just editing the accounts.conf file and removing just this entry solved
the problem. If you remove the file you will have to rerun the new
online accounts application in order to recreate your new configuration.

Bug description:
The clock app provides switches to enable/disable individual alarms.
However sometimes, I have noticed that on disabling an alarm, it
immediately enables it again. Multiple tries to disable the alarm does
not help. Again the key thing to remember here is that this does not
happen everytime but only sometime. I have not found a reliable way to
reproduce the issue. So you may have to do a bit of trial and error to
  confirm this bug.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open clock app and navigate to alarm tab
  2. Open toolbar and select Add alarm
  3. Set any alarm (single or recurring)
  4. Save the alarm
  5. Attempt to set the alarm to disable by clicking the switch next to the new
alarm

  What happens sometimes:
The alarm is enabled again immediately by the system

  What should happen
Since the user can toggle the alarm in the app, it is expected that the alarm
can be turned off (so it is seen as disabled in the Upcoming settings menu tab)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1272337] Re: EDS reverts alarm status immediately

2014-08-20 Thread Ubuntu Phone Apps Jenkins Bot
Fix committed into lp:ubuntu-clock-app/reboot at revision 62, scheduled
for release in ubuntu-clock-app, milestone rtm

** Changed in: ubuntu-clock-app

Title:
  EDS reverts alarm status immediately

Status in Clock application for Ubuntu devices:
  Fix Committed
Status in Ubuntu Clock App reboot series:
  In Progress
Status in Ubuntu UI Toolkit:
  New
Status in “qtorganizer5-eds” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
The clock app provides switches to enable/disable individual alarms.
However sometimes, I have noticed that on disabling an alarm, it
immediately enables it again. Multiple tries to disable the alarm does
not help. Again the key thing to remember here is that this does not
happen everytime but only sometime. I have not found a reliable way to
reproduce the issue. So you may have to do a bit of trial and error to
  confirm this bug.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open clock app and navigate to alarm tab
  2. Open toolbar and select Add alarm
  3. Set any alarm (single or recurring)
  4. Save the alarm
  5. Attempt to set the alarm to disable by clicking the switch next to the new
alarm

  What happens sometimes:
The alarm is enabled again immediately by the system

  What should happen
Since the user can toggle the alarm in the app, it is expected that the alarm
can be turned off (so it is seen as disabled in the Upcoming settings menu tab)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1359065] Re: Cannot place an emergency call when device and SIM are locked

2014-08-20 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Actually, I couldn't do anything from the passcode prompt and couldn't
start the dialer. I thought it was because of the SIM locked because it
worked just before with the SIM unlocked. After a reboot it works fine.
I'm closing this report and will file another one if I can reproduce the
dialer doesn't launch from passcode prompt issue.

[HDA-Intel - HDA Intel MID, playback] volume slider problem - Slide to
bottom and sound stays off even when slider moved up again

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
The Audio Mixer panel widget slider (current version) has no mute
checkbox. The 12.04 version had a mute checkbox in addition to the
  slider.

When the slider is moved to the bottom, everything is muted: Master,
Headphone, Speaker, PCM. Move the slider up and only Master is
  unmuted.

My computer has three hardware buttons for audio. The mute/unmute
mutes but never unmutes. Same issue.

  Known problem: http://askubuntu.com/questions/397819/ubuntu-13-10-and-
  xfce4-no-sound-at-all

With 2012.04 I could just uncheck the mute button and things were back
to normal. Now I need to open Audio Mixer and unmute everything.

(It also appears I need to unmute the Headphones to hear sounds from
  the internal speakers.)

As someone who works in an environment where I regularly need to mute
  this behavior is very annoying.

  1) The volume sliders should never mute.
  2) There should be a mute checkbox.
  3) The unmute options should unmute everything which was muted.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1358294] Re: App .config not removed when app uninstalled

2014-08-20 Thread Victor Tuson Palau
Hi Colin,

To me this seems like a simple check on .config folder to see if there
is any folder named with the package name and delete it. I am not sure
it needs to be much more clever than that.

I also think that this is a bit of an issue, if the user expects their
data to have been deleted from the phone but that is not the case..

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1227100] Re: Error messages are too technical.

2014-08-20 Thread Thomas Strehl
Rodney: why is that no longer affecting the click scope? Shouldn't the
scope translate tech error messages? We cannot always rely on the
remote component to do this, e.g. when it comes to network errors.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1272337] Re: EDS reverts alarm status immediately

Status in Clock application for Ubuntu devices:
  Won't Fix
Status in Ubuntu Clock App reboot series:
  Fix Committed
Status in Ubuntu UI Toolkit:
  Invalid
Status in “qtorganizer5-eds” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
The clock app provides switches to enable/disable individual alarms.
However sometimes, I have noticed that on disabling an alarm, it
immediately enables it again. Multiple tries to disable the alarm does
not help. Again the key thing to remember here is that this does not
happen everytime but only sometime. I have not found a reliable way to
reproduce the issue. So you may have to do a bit of trial and error to
  confirm this bug.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open clock app and navigate to alarm tab
  2. Open toolbar and select Add alarm
  3. Set any alarm (single or recurring)
  4. Save the alarm
  5. Attempt to set the alarm to disable by clicking the switch next to the new
alarm

  What happens sometimes:
The alarm is enabled again immediately by the system

  What should happen
Since the user can toggle the alarm in the app, it is expected that the alarm
can be turned off (so it is seen as disabled in the Upcoming settings menu tab)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1359125] [NEW] Use a discreet notification when there is an active call

2014-08-20 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Public bug reported:

build #199

When there is an incoming call during an active call, the notification
uses the configured ringtone. It's very loud to the point you cannot
talk anymore until the notification is dismissed.

This is very intrusive and the notification should be more discreet like
a small beep and a vibration. This behaviour should be the same for all
the notifications (alarms, messages) when a call is active.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1350871] Re: location service is waking up at 10Hz causing possible unwanted wakeups

Title:
location service is waking up at 10Hz causing possible unwanted
  wakeups

Status in “location-service” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I've observed that location service is waking up ~10 times per second
  due to a 100ms sleep

  ps -ax | grep 2295
   2295 ?Ssl0:00 /usr/bin/ubuntu-location-serviced --bus system
--provider gps::Provider

eventstat shows it's the top waking userspace process on the phone:

  root@ubuntu-phablet:/# eventstat 300 1
   Event/s PID TaskInit Function Callback
  9.99 2304 ubuntu-location hrtimer_start_range_nshrtimer_wakeup

health-check shows that this is occuring in a 100ms nanosleep() system
  call.

Attached is the output from health-check. Is is possible to use a
select() or poll() rather than a 10Hz non-blocking delay loop to
  reduce polling wakeups?

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1338312 ***

I'm not sure about the duplicate status of this bug. Isn't the other bug
only about the icon caching in the launcher which is revealed when
swiping from the left edge?

Seeking is broken with media-hub on versions 0.10.24 and above

Status in “gst-fluendo-mp3” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Starting in version 0.10.24, the change to line 1656 of mp3-c.c causes
seeking to break when used with media-hub (most likely a timing
  issue):

diff = tl-c_impl.main_data_end - III_side_info.main_data_begin;
if (diff  0) {
/* Usually happens after a seek. We can't decode this frame */
  GST_LOG (Not enough main data available to decode frame);
  return MP3TL_ERR_BAD_FRAME;

Previously in version 0.10.23 and prior, this block inside the if
  statement was never executed:

if (tl-c_impl.main_data_end - III_side_info.main_data_begin  0) {
/* Usually happens after a seek. We can't decode this frame */
  GST_LOG (Not enough main data available to decode frame);

This needs reworking so that when this does happen after a seek, this
code recovers gracefully instead of causing a pipeline flow error
  resulting in an EOS.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1359152] Re: indicator-messages has no .pot nor .po files

Thanks, what's the issue exactly? The pot is generated by dh_translations
during the package build and imported in launchpad

Is there any string missing from there? Could you give an example?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1359204] [NEW] Padlock shape is inconsistent in standlone icon vs. Wi-Fi emblem

2014-08-20 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 r179

1. From System Settings, or the first-run setup, choose a closed Wi-Fi network.
2. Observe the padlock icons in the network list vs. the authentication dialog.

What you see:
* The standalone icon has a thin shackle, while the network emblem has a thick
shackle.
* In the standalone icon, the shackle is inset from the edge, while in the
network emblem it's flush with the edge.

OpenAL default config file needs change to stop hangs

  Fix Released

Bug description:
Several well known linux games ( e.g. Warzone 2100 and OpenArena )
hang and/or don't work properly with the combination of OpenAL and
PulseAudio. From my own experience and from other reports it seems
that a minor change to the default config file (
/etc/openal/alsoft.conf ) can correct the issue.

I am requesting this fix be considered. It would not require a
  compile change.

The fix consists of changing the default conf file :

  * NOW : the drivers= line is commented out

  * FIX :make it drivers=oss

I have verified this to work on my own system, running Ubuntu 9.10
64-bit ( Karmic ). OpenAL and PulseAudio as well as the relevant
games were all loaded from the repositories through Synaptic.

If you test the bug and get a hang ( e.g. WarZone ) when it closes,
use CTRL-ALT-F1 and login. Use gdb to attach to the hung process and
you'll see it's stuck in OpenAL's close code. The underlying problem
is probably openAl, but this is not going to be updated (
realistically ), so the simple fix would solve the problem for end
users and could be issued with minimal difficulty.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1227100] Re: Error messages are too technical.

2014-08-20 Thread Rodney Dawes
Thomas, unity-scope-click as an upstream project doesn't have bugs on
LP. They are filed against the package. The no longer affects changes
was simply for that.

Though, I don't think this is an issue any longer, as we don't actually
show any HTTP error messages to the user in the new scope. This bug was
originally opened against the old Vala scope.

  A cousin of bug #1354406

Some of the early testers are hitting a use case that we didn't
account for, that of multiple alarms set for the same time.

Indicator-datetime currently tries to pull up notifications for, and
play sounds for, both notifications. That's happening by accident and
is clearly not the right approach.

I can think of a couple of approaches we might take:

  (1) Queue the alarms such that only one triggers at a time. This has
the advantage of being simple, both in concept and in code. I'm not
certain this is the most user-friendly approach, as it could be
frustrating have to dismiss a queue of alarms.

  (2) Somehow fold multiple alarms together. This has the advantage of
being friendlier to the user as only a single snooze/dismiss prompt
would be given. However it opens other questions, e.g. which of the
  alarms' sounds should play?

Of these two I slghtly prefer (1) for its simplicity; however, neither
of these options seems perfect and I'm hoping Design may have a better
  suggestion

startup time of the application longer, consumes more memory right
away, and if on mobile data consumes more MBs too.

Only the webview for the first tab should be instantiated at first,
other tabs should be empty placeholders which trigger the
instantiation of the corresponding webview on demand.

This means we’re going to need to save and restore the title for each
open tab (we’re currently saving and restoring only the current URL).

Title:
usb headset not available as microphone source

Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have a usb Plantronics .Audio 478 headset that I use for conference
calls. Works perfect in trusty, but upon upgrade to utopic the
microphone is not available as an input in the gnome sound preferences
or pavucontrol. There appears to be an entry in alsamixer, and a
  source in pactl list.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1359248] [NEW] Sound settings no longer works with Gnome Control Center Sound in Xfce

2014-08-20 Thread Roman
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 12.04 I was able to install Gnome Control Center and
indicator-sound and launch GNOME Control Center's audio options from the
Sound Settings option in Indicator-Sound, but after upgrading to 14.04
this is no longer possible - it loads GNOME-Control-Center showing only
one or two icons, the only workaround being to manually launch gksu
gnome-control-center sound which is less than ideal.

** Affects: indicator-sound (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1359252] [NEW] Signal 18 (CONT) caught by ps (procps-ng version 3.3.9).

2014-08-20 Thread ole.tange
Public bug reported:

#101 shows the problem for zsh, but the problem can also be provoked
in bash:

1. Start 3 processes (e.g. sleep) This is needed to slow down `ps`.
2. Install GNU Parallel 20140815alpha (which uses `ps`)
3. Run: seq 100 | parallel -j0 parallel -j3 --semaphore sleep .{}\\\;echo {}
\\ /tmp/log
4. When `pstree` shows that parallel has started some ps-processes: CTRL-Z
5. Wait a few seconds
6. fg

Output 100 times:
Signal 18 (CONT) caught by ps (procps-ng version 3.3.9).
ps:display.c:66: please report this bug

It does not seem to cause a problem, so low priority.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1230091] Re: [enhancement] Trusted Session surface management (required for appstore app trust model), modal subwindows

2014-08-20 Thread Jamie Strandboge
I didn't here back on the bug, however, online accounts and trust-store
now have sufficient Mir support to utilize trust sessions, and we can
therefore remove the rtm14 tag and likely reduce the severity. I will
take care of the Ubuntu tasks.

Bug description:
(I'm filing this as a bug in order to be able to point other people to
it, and to track its progress; if there's a blueprint containing this
  task, please let me know)

Some components (such as the Online Accounts trusted helper) need to
be able to pop-up a window (typically, a dialog) on top of the running
application. Such windows should be modal to the application, that is
the user should not be able to interact with the application while the
modal window is displayed on top of them. This also means that in the
task switcher one shouldn't see two windows, but only the topmost
modal window (and parts of the application window, in case the modal
window on top is a non-fullscreen dialog).

For developers, this API already exists in Qt: see
https://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5.1/qtgui/qwindow.html#fromWinId
It needs to be implemented in the QPA plugin, so feel free to add the
relevant projects to the bug report.

  From jdstrand
This is a hard requirement for application confinement because of our trust
model-- permission to access sensitive data by AppStore apps is typically
granted or denied at the time of access (caching the result for later use as
appropriate), so users have a context for the access being requested. We do
this instead of throwing up a permissions prompt at installation. However, for
it to work, trusted helpers like online accounts and location require this
functionality from unity-mir. A trust-store is also being implemented so other
services like calendar and contacts can do the same. Because this feature is
not implemented, the implementation for online accounts, location and the
trust-store is blocked and appstore apps are therefore able to access these
services without the user knowing.

A recent change in the interest of security removed access to the

This was an accentual change based on a misunderstanding

There had been a plan to support media playback control via the sound
indicator. Without this the user must unlock the phone in order to
simply pause the music or change songs, etc.

  Desired resolution:

  - Revert the change that caused this issue

  - Add a switch to System Settings to enable security conscious user to
switch off Launcher and Greeter access while the phone is locked.
This setting should *always* be off by default.

consider if removing the data is something we should do or offer a

soon (proper test, cachedir).

If I choose the guest login, unity appears and is perfectly operational.
  What can I do?
  Thanks so much!
  Hans

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1193944] Re: systemd-shim doesn't respect /etc/default/halt setting

Title:
  systemd-shim doesn't respect /etc/default/halt setting

Status in “systemd-shim” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
  Package: systemd-shim
  Version: 3+real-0ubuntu1

Very minor niggle: /sbin/poweroff is called on system halt regardless
of the setting of HALT in /etc/default/halt. For consistency with
calling shutdown directly, this variable probably ought to be
inspected - or simply call /sbin.shutdown instead of poweroff.

Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I am running a dual boot system.
Installed trusty (amd64) from usb stick - without formatting the install
partition.
Upon restart the login screen appears all right. But after typing the

appears again - without any comments.
If I type a wrong password, I get the incorrect password message on the login
screen.
If I choose the guest login, unity appears and is perfectly operational.
  What can I do?
  Thanks so much!
