As far as I can tell, gir has no multiarch support (see e.g. http://bugs.debian.org/720071), so the typelib needs to be moved back into /usr/lib/girepository-1.0 and ‘Multi-Arch: same’ needs to be dropped. Yes, the problem persists. :( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to account-plugins in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1354067 Title: Auto-Login service for GMail accounts gives "Applications can no longer access online account" error Status in “account-plugins” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “friends” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: The auto-login service for GMail accounts gives "Applications can no longer access online accounts" error everytime it attempts to connect. It also cannot sustain connections for other online services (facebook, yahoo, etc.) and requires me to grant access to the services again and again. I can confirm my passwords are correct. Also, granting access to yahoo mail and facebook works flawlessly, but the GMail 'Grant Access' interface is buggy, and just doesn't work. On entering password and clicking 'Done' it brings back the same screen, as though nothing happened. Over and over again. If you click cancel a few times, it brings you back to the screen with the list of online accounts, while it attempts to connect to the services, in vain. Also, overall the friends service is buggy. It doesn't show me notifications from facebook, nor has it synced events from my google calenders. I cannot tell you when this problem started exactly, neither can i guess what might have caused the problem. If you need some log files, please tell me, i'll upload them asap. I don't have accounts in many of the services listed there, so i might not be able to help you with other services. Debugging this problem may be a time consuming exercise, especially for non- experienced users. With the proposed change, lightdm/gdm does not try to load such a file, but shows a warning dialog instead. (A warning dialog is also shown in case of some other type of error, which would not have caused the login to fail.) [Regression Potential] Since this is only about improved exception handling, it does not at all affect users with correct configuration files. The regression risk ought to be minimal. [Original description] Binary package hint: gdm After adding "function AddPath { PATH="$1:$PATH" }" to $HOME/.profile made the Xorg startup fail. (At that moment I had already forgotten the changes made to the .profile). As I had autologin that meant it kept trying to login and finally showed me the graphics reconfiguration screen. That sent me to a huge hunt for xorg conf and setup problems. Anyway finally tracked this down. I had used bash syntax in .profile file whereas it was run with sh. This is not a bug per se but I think a user mistake in ".profile" shouldn't bring the whole xorg startup to a halt as it does with autologin. I propose running user ".profile" and ".xprofile" scripts so that Xsession script continues running even if they have errors. Load some music onto device 2. Navigate to "My Music" scope in dash (e.g. by clicking the "My Music" category header in music scope). 3. Select an artist from the surfacing results Observed behaviour: Standard search results for the artist's name are displayed with small icons for artists, albums and tracks. Expected behaviour: The special "albums_of_artist" view should be displayed with a full width result showing art for the artist. Surprisingly, if I select the same artist result as it appears in the music aggregator scope, I get the albums_of_artist view. This makes me suspect that this is a problem in the dash or unity-scopes-shell, where the department ID from the canned query is being lost. No crash should happen [Regression potential] None Hi, this is basically the same bug as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1298202, but that bug is marked as Fix Released with Unity 7.2.0, and I'm still seeing this bug on trusty, with the latest Unity version (unity 7.2.1+14.04.20140513-0ubuntu2). I already mentioned in that bug that I was still seeing it quite a while ago, but got no reply to that. Crashes are being experienced in multiple machines, while unlocking the screen. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1342208] Re: Scroll wheel uses inverted logic to switch between applications/windows in the switcher
So, although I don't completely agree with the new vertical scrolling behavior in the Switcher, I don't think we should block the SRU on this since this is how Utopic now behaves. I think I will enter a new bug report about the behavior not being quite what is expected and then flesh that out. If we decide to switch the behavior back, then we will get it into another SRU. These screen contents are not always the desktop or open application beneath the lock screen. On at least one occasion, the screen showed content from a full-screen video that had been playing in Firefox some time before the computer had been suspended: neither the video nor its underlying tab were open anymore, so the image(s) was likely part of a buffer somewhere. (Needless to say, if the wrong full-screen video had been watched, depending on the setting, this could be a quite serious issue for some users). I have not exhaustively tested conditions in which this appears. However, just now, the bug did not appear when keeping the lid open, suspending, and then resuming with the power button. But when suspending from menu, closing the lid, then opening the lid and moving the mouse, the screen displayed contents before showing the lock dialog. The image displayed was of the desktop (with this bug reporting window) and showed the "suspend" item in the power menu being highlighted/clicked. Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1371590] Re: Global menu bar snatches defeat from the jaws of victory, à la Windows 95 Start button
Hi Stephen, I had the same thought, but the devices are very different - a laptop with Intel graphics and a workstation with NVIDIA graphics and two monitors (one rotated 90°), so it seems unlikely to be just a config problem. Is there some debug / config info that would help test your idea? On 17 October 2014 14:43, Stephen M. Webb wrote: > This sounds remarkably like an X11 configuration issue. Basically, it's super easy to move your pointer fast and hard to the extreme edge and corners of the screen, so you can hit targets placed there quickly. But the global menu only activates if the cursor is a pixel or two from the top of the screen. This is a massive usability bug. The example from the 90s (yes, 20 years ago) is that Win 95's start button was offset from the bottom left corner by a couple of pixels. That made it hard for people to hit, and if they'd only put it flush with the bottom left it would have been way way easier to click. Hence "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" - e.g. in this post from 2000 http://www.joelonsoftware.com/uibook/chapters/fog63.html Hopefully this is an easy fix: extend the mouseover activation area for the global menu to the top of the screen. Right to the top zeroth row of pixels. Please? However, with click profiles not using expr tree simplification (ie, adding the '-O no-expr-simplify' option) can improve click policy generation by 44%. The proper fix is to adjust expr tree simplification to not be more efficient, however, in the short term we can adjust the apparmor upstart job to use '-O no-expr-simplify' when compiling policy in /var/lib/apparmor/profiles but leave /etc/apparmor.d alone. We can do the same with click-apparmor. ** Affects: apparmor (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: Triaged ** Affects: click-apparmor (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: Triaged ** Also affects: click-apparmor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: click-apparmor (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: click-apparmor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apparmor in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1383858 Title: use 'no-expr-simplify' parser option for clicks Status in “apparmor” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “click-apparmor” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: AppArmor has several optimization options that can be used to help speed up policy compiles for certain types of policy. I'll pull down from the upper right corner, and instead of the clock menu it shows me the transfers menu. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1381041] Re: Network indicator is sometimes blank
@Antti I think we should bump the priority of this... if the network-menu is blank, the user ends up with drastically reduced control over their device. Also regarding bug #1381075, as has been discussed on the mailing list, simply reporting the failed respawns of indicator-network to errors.ubuntu.com isn't sufficient. We really need to consider some sort of automatic reboot and/or prompted reboot if/when critical components fail in this manner. @Rick If you hit this again, can you check two things: 1. see if there are any indicator-network crash files in /var/crash, as Antti has theorized that the indicator has crashed. 2. check to see if indicator-network is still running. A simple 'status indicator-network' ( as phablet-user ) should tell you the current upstart status. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to indicator-network in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1381041 Title: Network indicator is sometimes blank Status in “indicator-network” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: This is on krillin r103, but it has been happening for a while. [Touch-packages] [Bug 195982] Re: Shift key (and caps lock) stop working when using VMWare
For me, it turned out that the "Caps Lock as an extra control key" was the culprit. xmodmap was xmodmap: up to 4 keys per modifier, (keycodes in parentheses): shift Shift_L (0x32), Shift_R (0x3e) lockCaps_Lock (0x42) control Control_L (0x25), Caps_Lock (0x42), Control_R (0x69) mod1Alt_L (0x40), Alt_R (0x6c), Meta_L (0xcd) mod2Num_Lock (0x4d) mod3 mod4Super_L (0x85), Super_R (0x86), Super_L (0xce), Hyper_L (0xcf) mod5ISO_Level3_Shift (0x5c), Mode_switch (0xcb) I removed the Caps_Lock (0x42) from the control line and the problem went away. VMWare stopped flushing my mappings and my keys all worked the same as before. Somehow my CapsLock is still mapped as a control key as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195982 Title: Shift key (and caps lock) stop working when using VMWare Status in The Linux Kernel: Invalid Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “xkeyboard-config” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in Gentoo Linux: New Bug description: [Problem] VMWare's keyboard mapping is imperfect, sometimes resulting in certain keys stopping functionality when running under VMWare, requiring the user to setup their configuration settings manually in VMWare. For a detailed explanation see the following article: http://www.vmware.com/support/ws55/doc/ws_devices_keymap_linux_longer.html [Original Report] After a day or so of running the shift key mysteriously stops working as does the cap lock. In other words I cannot enter shifted characters of any kind. The keyboard is connected to a KVM and all other systems respond to it properly. In additional any VMWare sessions I have open respond correctly. So I have the condition where all non-vmware applications in Ubuntu Hardy (all updates applied as of 2008-02-26 at 12:43 UTC) fail to recognize the shift key BUT applications within an active (a paused/restarted session also works) VMWare sessions running DO recognize the key. When this condition occurs ALL applications (except those within a VMWare session) are also unstable and will usually crash within a few keystrokes. If I continue to operate in this mode. I cannot pinpoint what, if any, application triggers this. It has always happened while working within terminal/browser/vmware sessions and NOT when opening a new application. It could be related to the KVM switch, but none of my other systems (2 Mandriva, 1 Windows) are affected by this. This bug has been present on my system for a number of days across daily updates and reboots (if the update requested it) and I think since I installed Hardy Alpha 1. A work around: log off and back on. A reboot/restart does not appear to be needed. Error logs show some unusual activity. --- MARK ... ... kernel ... rtc lost 7 interrupts ... --- MARK --- Plus some segfaults indicating which application crashed as I tried to type into it (mouse works fine). System: HP dv9743cl (which otherwise works lovely) Ubuntu: Hardy 8.04 (from lsb-release) TEST CASE: 1. Click inside the VM and 2. Hold any of the Ctrl, Alt and/or shift keys while releasing the keyboard/mouse to the host OS (which you obviously do when you press Crtl-Alt to revert back to windowed mode, as the cursor is then released from the VM). WORKAROUND: After this happens to recover your keyboard execute 'setxkbmap' in a terminal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/195982/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
