[Touch-packages] [Bug 1502311] [NEW] Support a Traditional Chinese input method

2015-10-02 Thread Pat McGowan
Public bug reported:

Our pinyin plugin only provides support for Simplified Chinese and
Traditional Chinese is often requested.
In Taiwan especially many people use Zhuyin and it is taught in elementary
schools.

Ubuntu has a Chewing implementation on the desktop, presumably an
approach similar to the pinyin plugin can be developed.

very interresting to have a "social network scope". By that, I eman a scope
that would aggregate all of the lastest information from our different social

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1502311] Re: Support a Traditional Chinese input method

2015-10-02 Thread Michael Sheldon
libpinyin (which we currently use for pinyin input) appears to have
support for chewing style input, does anyone know how this compares to
libchewing or libzhuyin? It'd probably be simpler to use libpinyin as we
already make use of it for simplified Chinese input, but only if its
chewing performance is on a par with the dedicated libraries on offer.

It appears that on wily the long package descriptions are missing from
the apt-cache. As a result of this bug full package descriptions are
missing (amongst others) in software-center, update-manager, synaptic
  etc.

  The files like /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu
  .com_ubuntu_dists_wily_universe_i18n_Translation-en do exist with a
recent timestamp, so it looks the downloading of the translations has
  taken place.

Using the python bindings cache['gimp'].candidate.description returns
  an empty string.

Apt-cache also seems to be missing the 'Description-en' key:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1432871] Re: `df` shows bind mounts instead of real mounts.

2015-10-02 Thread Dave Chiluk
This same patch applies cleanly to both wily and vivid, but it has wily
in the changelog.

** Patch added: "lp1432871.wily.debdiff"

Title:
`df` shows bind mounts instead of real mounts.

Status in coreutils package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * df displays bind mounts instead of "real" mounts if the bind mount
is mounted to a shorter directory.

   * justification - This is a change of behavior from precise

   * Explanation - This patch checks to see if the source directory of a
mount is contains the destination directory of the mount it's
replacing *(check if it's bind mount from the original directory).

  [Test Case]

   * $ mount

  192.168.1.2:/raid on /raid type nfs
  /dev/sdc5 on /data type ext4 (rw)

  /data/a on /a type none (rw,bind)
  /raid/temp on /b type none (rw,bind)

  $df

  /raid/temp 7752072192 5581343744 1780023296 76% /b

I'd expect to see the real mount prioritized over the bind mount. Like so.

  192.168.1.2:/raid 7752072192 5581438976 1779929088 76% /raid

  [Regression Potential]

   * Patch is not upstream, and will not be upstreamed *(see other info)

   * df command could stop working if I wrote the patch poorly. df
  might not process mounts correctly.

  [Other Info]

   * The behavior of df, mount and similar number of other commands has changed
going forward. Previously these commands all processed /etc/mtab which was
maintained by the mount command. Going forward they still process /etc/mtab,
but this is simply a symlink to /proc/mounts now which is maintained by the
kernel and likely significantly more accurate. Unlike the mount command, the
kernel makes no distinction between bind mounts and normal mounts. This is
evident by the fact that you can mount a device, bind mount from that device,
and then unmount the original mount. The default behavior of df in this case
is to simply pick the mounted directory for a device that is the shortest since
it has no other information to go on from /proc/mounts.
   * Theoretically df, mount and a number of other commands could be modified
to run ioctl commands to determine if the mount is from a root inode of the
mounted filesystem to determine preference, but that is really more of an
upstream exercise.

  Original bug.

Depending on mount path length df sometimes prioritizes showing bind mounts
over real mounts

  for example.
  $ mount

  192.168.1.2:/raid on /raid type nfs
(rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,vers=4,addr=192.168.1.2,clientaddr=192.168.1.3)
  /dev/sdc5 on /data type ext4 (rw)

  /data/a on /a type none (rw,bind)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1497534] Re: apt-get crashed with SIGSEGV in strlen()

2015-10-02 Thread Steve Langasek
StackTraceSource.txt shows the failure is because at the time
debTranslationsIndex::Exists() is called, Language points to an invalid
string.

Tracking this down will be non-trivial without a reproducer case. Is
anyone who's seen this bug able to reproduce it at will? This bug
report shows the problem was triggered by running 'apt-get --yes
autoremove' as root (in an Italian locale). If the problem is
reproducible, can someone please try running apt-get under valgrind?

  restarted, etc.:

However, I never got an apport dialog for this.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1432871] Re: `df` shows bind mounts instead of real mounts.

2015-10-02 Thread Dave Chiluk
In order to solve this issue, I have written patches and got them integrated
upstream.
gnulib commit:
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=gnulib.git;a=commit;h=c6148bca89e9465fd6ba3a10d273ec4cb58c2dbe

have been authored by me.

While attempting to push these patches into Ubuntu, it became apparent
that our version of coreutils does not contain the requisite patches to
correctly support /proc/self/mountinfo gives more complete information
than /proc/self/mounts which /etc/mtab now points to. Using
/proc/self/mountinfo is the upstream way of doing things, and it allows
us to resolve this specific bug.

Patches required in order to support /proc/self/mountinfo are.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1473599] Re: gdb complains about missing Python module libstdcxx.v6.printers

2015-10-02 Thread Ionut
If anyone is still having this problem (as I just had), I have found
that the solution explained here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-4.8/+bug/1446828 solves
it.

Basically, you have to comment lines 51 and 52, the ones dealing with
multiarch, in /usr/share/gdb/auto-load/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/libstdc++.so.6.0.19-gdb.py

After doing that, pretty printers should work.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1432871] Re: `df` shows bind mounts instead of real mounts.

2015-10-02 Thread Dave Chiluk
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

   * df displays bind mounts instead of "real" mounts if the bind mount is
  mounted to a shorter directory.

   * justification - When trusty moved to using /proc/mounts this changed
behavior from precise. Additionally it doesn't make sense that a bind
mount should show up in df over a real root mount.

   * Explanation - These patches change behavior of df to rely on
/proc/self/mountinfo which has more complete info than /proc/mounts.
Such as what directory of the filesystem was used as the source of the
mount. Additionally given this new information there is a patch on df
itself to make use of this new information.

  [Test Case]

   * $ mount

  192.168.1.2:/raid on /raid type nfs
  /dev/sdc5 on /data type ext4 (rw)

  /data/a on /a type none (rw,bind)
  /raid/temp on /b type none (rw,bind)

  $df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on

  /data/a 449830616 229975284 196982196 54% /a
  /raid/temp 7752072192 5581343744 1780023296 76% /b

I'd expect to see the real mount prioritized over the bind mount. Like so.
  $df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on

  /dev/sdc5449830616 229975284 196982196 54% /data
  192.168.1.2:/raid 7752072192 5581438976 1779929088 76% /raid

  [Regression Potential]

   * Patch is upstreamed.

   * df command now relies on /proc/self/mountinfo

  [Other Info]

   * The behavior of df, mount and similar number of other commands has
changed going forward. Previously these commands all processed
/etc/mtab which was maintained by the mount command. Going forward they
still process /etc/mtab, but this is simply a symlink to /proc/mounts
now which is maintained by the kernel and slightly more accurate.
Unlike the mount command, the kernel makes no distinction between bind
mounts and normal mounts. This is evident by the fact that you can
mount a device, bind mount from that device, and then unmount the
original mount. The default behavior of df in this case is to simply
pick the mounted directory for a device that is the shortest since it
has no other information to go on from /proc/mounts. Moving to using
/proc/self/mountinfo resolves this issue, and is what upstream is doing
  moving forward.

+ * In order to solve this issue, I have written patches and got them
integrated upstream.
+ gnulib commit:
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=gnulib.git;a=commit;h=c6148bca89e9465fd6ba3a10d273ec4cb58c2dbe
 and
+ coreutils commit:
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=coreutils.git;a=commit;h=3babaf83875ceac896c8dd3a64248e955dfecef9
+ have been authored by me.
+
+ While attempting to push these patches into Ubuntu, it became apparent
+ that our version of coreutils does not contain the requisite patches to
+ correctly support /proc/self/mountinfo. /proc/self/mountinfo gives more
+ complete information than /proc/self/mounts which /etc/mtab now points
+ to. Using /proc/self/mountinfo is the upstream way of doing things, and
+ it allows us to resolve this specific bug.
+
+ Patches required in order to support /proc/self/mountinfo are.

  Original bug.

Depending on mount path length df sometimes prioritizes showing bind mounts
over real mounts

  for example.
  $ mount

  192.168.1.2:/raid on /raid type nfs
(rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,vers=4,addr=192.168.1.2,clientaddr=192.168.1.3)

  /data/a on /a type none (rw,bind)
  /raid/temp on /b type none (rw,bind)

  $df

  /raid/temp 7752072192 5581343744 1780023296 76% /b

I'd expect to see the real mount prioritized over the bind mount. Like so.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1500483] Re: [sdk] animate header component when app comes back to the foreground

Title:
[sdk] animate header component when app comes back to the foreground

Status in Ubuntu UX:
  Fix Committed
Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
When the header is hidden by scrolling it out of the view in an app,
and the user switches between apps, when an app comes back to the
foreground, the header instantly appears again. This means when going
back to a previous app, the app is not in exactly the same state as
  where the user left it.

  Example:
  - Open gallery-app
  - Scroll down to hide the header (you need to have enough photos in the
gallery to scroll down).
  - Long left/right edge swipe to hide send the gallery-app to the background
  - Re-open the gallery app

  Result:
The gallery-app re-opens with the header visible.

This can be confusing for the user.
  Two possible solutions:
  1. Show the header when re-opening the app, but animate it so the user knows
what is happening
  2. Don't do anything. Header stays hidden and the user can show it as they
normally would.

After discussing with Olga, we decided to go for solution 1. The
header will show, but it must animate.

  -- UX comment -

  As described above:
The header should animate once user navigates back to the app.

click is not handled immediatelly and the search screen does not
appear. I need to click somewhere else or press Esc key - it behaves
like the click is remembered, but processed later.

Expected is that the search screen appears immediately when I click

Bug description:
I tried to open the panel menus. Probably by keyboard first. The
panel froze & crashed. No unusual circumstances that I noticed.

I don't know if this will be relevant, but: since recently trying KDE
packages on this machine, KDE's settings seemed to have fouled up
Unity's, when I returned. Many of the indicator icons were wrong or
missing. Attempts to clear the settings, remove KDE packages, and
restart, didn't make any difference. But after this crash, weeks
later, the usual icons were finally restored. Seems strange.

  Thanks.

Status in Unity:

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  On ubuntu 14.04 64bits
  unity 7.2.2+14.04.20140714-0ubuntu1

When opening/closing multiple windows of the same application, the indicator
of the number of open windows in the sidebar (that can be 1,2 or 3 arrows)
doesn't refresh immediately.
To get it refreshed, one has to switch the focus to another application and
then back to the original application.

  How to reproduce:
  - close all windows of the "files" application
  - open a new one ; the icon highlights indicating 1 window
  - open yet another one (right click, new window) ; the icon still indicates
one window
  - switch the focus to another application ; the icon of the "files"
application now indicates 2 windows
  - close *the original* "files" windows (otherwise works properly) ; the icon
still indicates 2 windows

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1501411] Re: Where to translate the title of the scope-click?

2015-10-02 Thread Ivo Xavier
Hi Rodney,

We've checked the link you provide us, and the string we want to
translate isn't there.

The one who is there, is the label for icon of the 'Ubuntu Store', not
for the title.

We've been asking about this to a lot of people, but ,until now, we
haven't managed to fix that string.

Although, thanks for your feedback!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1500193] Re: systemd-journald crashed with SIGABRT in dev_kmsg_record()

2015-10-02 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1499392] Re: OpenSSH Security and SHA1

2015-10-02 Thread Seth Arnold
Hello Eldin, you're right that it is time to begin migrating away from
SHA-1 in default OpenSSH configurations. However there is some
historical baggage in parts of the launchpad infrastructure that
prevented upgrading algorithms earlier. (Strictly speaking, the defaults
aren't tied to launchpad but a configuration that doesn't allow
developers to work out of the box is less than ideal.)

Some related bugs that might help explain the situation:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1445620
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1445624
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1445625

A site with many general guidelines that may influence more than just
default keysize and hash selections:
https://stribika.github.io/2015/01/04/secure-secure-shell.html

And, of course, whatever we select should be tested against Cisco gear,
since there's always a bug or two with every openssh configuration
change that prevents people from logging into or using Cisco equipment.

Colin, is it feasible to start making algorithm changes yet?

Thanks

If the kernel pipe mismatch messages keep happening, please also file a
bug against the linux kernel with "ubuntu-bug linux". That feels like a
separate issue that probably needs to be addressed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1500992] Re: Provide script to enable IP forwarding

2015-10-02 Thread Martin Pitt
It is much simpler to just set
/proc/sys/net/ipv{4,6}/conf/all/forwarding to 1, as that updates all
conf/iface/forwarding and /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward. I. e. we just
need

for f in /proc/sys/net/ipv*/conf/all/forwarding; do
echo 1 > $f
done

Title:
Provide script to enable IP forwarding

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
It's been reported by several LXC users that systemd-networkd will
turn off per-interface forwarding for all network interfaces when it
  starts.

Presumably upstream expects users to go and manually edit their config
  to allow it when needed.

This breaks LXC, libvirt, ... anything which ships a bridge that then
NAT or route outgoing traffic. Requiring the user to do the config
change would be a massive regression in user friendliness and having
lxc, libvirt, ... do it for the user would be a policy violation.

As a result, I'd recommend we patch systemd to not interfere with
forwarding unless explicitly configured by the user. This will allow
all our existing scripts to keep setting things up themselves and have
  it all run fine.

It is still happening with 213 but slightly different symptom.

The phone doesn't reboot immediately after the wizard but after a couple
of minutes of activity. The phone spontaneously reboots without any user
action (the device was lying on the desk, screen on) then it enters a
boot loop and never boots again to the shell.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1501346] Re: Gimp fails to start w/ Xmir running in '-rootless -flatten' mode under Unity 8

2015-10-02 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I've added a workaround to Xmir to deal with this bug...

https://git.launchpad.net/~xmir-team/xorg-server/+git/xmir/commit/?id=959d9ea4560d731840fd19a2c8a1cb39ad04ec9c

Not sure if we'll keep that though, because the simpler workaround is also
nicer:
gimp --no-splash

Longer term the right answer is still to fix this bug in Unity8 itself,
as well as bug 1497085.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 344814] [NEW] Synthetic emboldening/italic/italic-bold fails for single-styled fonts

2015-10-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: firefox

Ubuntu 9.10, firefox 3.5.3 is unable to print bold Chinese sans
characters.

Steps to duplicate:
1. if you set desktop language to Chinese, ttf-wqy-zenhei will be automatically
installed as the default Sans Serif font, if you use other languages, simply
install ttf-wqy-zenhei via atp-get first

2. in firefox, select Edit\Preference\Content\Font & Color, select the
default font as "sans-serif"

3. browse any Chinese web page with bold face, for example
http://forum.ubuntu.org.cn/

4. print page

Expected results:
the emboldened titles shall be printed in bold face

Actual results:
both the titles and text are printed with the same weight. English bold
characters look fine on the print though.
Bold Chinese characters prints ok with OpenOffice 3.1.1

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1497621] Re: Unity display corrupted on login or switch user

2015-10-02 Thread tap
Chris,

Here is what I have done (prior to receiving your most recent email) ... I
tried upgrading the nvidia drivers but could not because I had a very old
card. I purchased a newer one (GeForce GTX 660), installed it, rebooted,
upgraded the nvidia drivers to 346.96, rebooted and found the problem to be
gone. Is there anything else you would like me to run at this point that
might be helpful?

Unity display corrupted on login or switch user

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I have a new install of 15.04. I am using lightdm with a unity
desktop (default). I have two users on my system. Often when I log
in or switch user unity or lightdm (I don't know enough to understand
which one) will freeze on a corrupted display. The launcher icons and
the launcher will be overwritten with some pseudo-random pattern. the
bar across the top of the display will also be corrupted. Sometimes
the display has both my desktop and the unity-login greeter mixed. I
usually can't type or do alt-f2 for several seconds. At some point
(usually several seconds later) the display will appear to "reset,"
sometimes once, sometimes several times and eventually will settle on
an uncorrupted, usable screen. If I switch user 10 times this will
  happen on 8 of them.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1500312] Re: Graphics Driver issues

2015-10-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Dinesh Balu, as per https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/69045
/Intel-Desktop-Board-DH87MC an update to your computer's buggy and
outdated BIOS is available (0162). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.
Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1502311] Re: Support a Traditional Chinese input method

2015-10-02 Thread 陳昌倬
Disclose first:
- I am libchewing developer
- I am Debian Developer in pkg-ime team which maintains libchewing, libpinyin,
libzhuyin.

In short, please use libchewing or libzhuyin for Traditional Chinese user.

Different between Simplified and Traditional Chinese is not only about the
word, but also about the phrase. For example, mouse is called "鼠標" in
Simplified Chinese, and "滑鼠" in Traditional Chinese. The words I used here are
all Traditional Chinese variant, but the phrases here are from different
variant. So if I see "鼠標" in an article, , even when the word itself is
Traditional Chinese, I will say it uses Simplified Chinese or it is translated
badly from Simplified Chinese to Traditional Chinese. In fact, there is a tool,
called opencc, to do the conversion between different Chinese variants, and you
can see it has a big dictionary to do phrase mapping [0].

For an intelligent Chinese input method based on pronounce, it is all
about phrase database and to predict what user really want via
prediction algorithm and phrase database. If libpinyin does not have
separate phrase database for Traditional Chinese, it cannot compare to
libchewing, libzhuyin who has Traditional Chinese phrase database for
Traditional Chinese user.

Bug description:
Our pinyin plugin only provides support for Simplified Chinese and

In Taiwan especially many people use Zhuyin and it is taught in elementary

Ubuntu has a Chewing implementation on the desktop, presumably an
approach similar to the pinyin plugin can be developed.

So it seems this is because the icon is not squared, and thus we had a
different codepath to rescale the icon (but without keeping in mind
global scaling :))

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1404729] Re: When a bluetooth output device is paired no volume control thru indicator-sound

2015-10-02 Thread pereze
I'm also affected.
While the description may looks confusing, I agree on "what happens" and "what
should happen" sections of the description.

It's annoying, unexpected from a user's perspective, unnecessary and has
an "easy fix" that helps to improve the overall user experience.

I didn't considered important enough since the beginning, but after 1 year I'm
annoyed enough to start digging and trying to find how to solve it by myself.
That lead me here.
Any help or hint is appreciated.

Cheers,

I am actually running Debian. And the bug is more complicated than it
appears. Setting

options nvidia NVreg_EnableMSI=0

seems to help *sometimes*.

Once I get a better handle on the problem, I will file a proper bug
report with Debian and will cross-list it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1212987] Re: Unity not starting after boot

2015-10-02 Thread Jason Huggins
Same issue... Here's my details...

I have an old Acer Aspire 7520 that I decided to load Ubuntu Desktop
14.04LTS from LiveUSB key.

It installed nicely, except when I pass the login screen, I received a
garbled screen because of my Nvidia graphics card that doesn't play
nicely with the default Nouveau drivers.

Knowing this is a graphics driver issue, I restart in recovery mode (which
comes up normally with launcher and desktop in 1024x768) and fix the drivers
outlined here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia

Afterwards, I log back in (either in recovery mode or normally) and I
receive the empty desktop now, without launcher and an empty desktop.
I'm unable to get CTRL-ALT-F1/F2/T to work.

I attempted a range of fixes from installing gnome to resetting Unity and
haven't found an solution to bring back the launcher.
At this momement my install is botched. and unusable.
Contemplating trying Mint as it doesn't use the gnome Unity

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1502370] [NEW] Unity does not send UnmapNotify event when window is iconified

2015-10-02 Thread David B
Public bug reported:

To reproduce this bug, run "wish" in a terminal window. Here's what I did in
wish:
> wish
% wm tracing 1
% wm iconify .
WaitForMapNotify giving up on .
WaitForMapNotify finished with . (winPtr 0x1af3a50, wmPtr 0x1af3850)
% wm state .
normal
% wm deiconify .
%

Three symptoms can be seen in the wish session:
 1. wish should not report "WaitForMapNotify giving up on ."
 2. After the "wm iconify ." command, the window disappears; however, the "wm
state ." should report "iconic" instead of "normal".
 3. The "wm deiconify ." command should make the window reappear, but it does
not.

I'm struggling with whether this is a Unity bug or a Tk bug. The problem is
exhibited under Unity and Gnome Shell, but does not occur under fvwm2 (I ran
the test under all 3 window managers on the same system). Under fvwm2:
 1. wish does not report "WaitForMapNotify giving up on ."
 2) The "wm state ." command correctly returns "iconic".
 3) The "wm deiconify ." command correctly makes the window reappear.

Under Gnome Shell and fvwm2, I was able to run "xtrace wish", and repeat the
session to watch the X11 events (I got a SEGV when I tried this under Unity and
I filed a bug). Under Gnome Shell, the xtrace info looks like this:
000:<:0092: 24: Request(16): InternAtom only-if-exists=false(0x00)

Under fvwm2, the xtrace info looks like this:

long-offset=0x long-length=0x0400
000:>:008f:36: Reply to GetProperty: type=0x4("ATOM")
bytes-after=0x data=;

Note that fvwm2 returns the UnmapNotify event to the client (in response
to the ClientMessage event), but Gnome Shell (and presumably Unity)
doesn't. As a result, wish does not send the UnmapWindow request to the
window manager under Gnome Shell.

The ICCCM (section 4.1.4) says "Clients can select for StructureNotify
on their top-level windows to track transitions between Normal and
Iconic states. Receipt of a MapNotify event will indicate a transition
to the Normal state, and receipt of an UnmapNotify event will indicate a
transition to the Iconic state.

The relevant Tk code is in the tk8.6 source package
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/source/trusty/tk8.6). At the bottom of
unix/tkUnixWm.c the TkpWmSetState() function calls XIconifyWindow(),
followed by WaitForMapNotify(). It is WaitForMapNotify() that prints
out the message that it is giving up. There's an interesting comment
in WaitForMapNotify() that says "There are some bizarre situations in
which the window manager can't respond or chooses not to (e.g. if we've
got a grab set it can't respond). If this happens, then just quit."
The problem is that just quitting leaves Tk with an incorrect
impression of the window's state. Under fvwm2, the UnmapNotify event
causes Tk to call XUnmapWindow(), which seems to straighten things out.

As I previously said, I'm torn on whether this is a Tk bug or a
Unity/Gnome Shell bug. Since both Unity and Gnome Shell get the same
answer, and

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1432871] Re: `df` shows bind mounts instead of real mounts.

   Status: Incomplete => In Progress

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1432871

Title:
`df` shows bind mounts instead of real mounts.

Status in coreutils package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * df displays bind mounts instead of "real" mounts if the bind mount
is mounted to a shorter directory.

   * justification - When trusty moved to using /proc/mounts this
changed behavior from precise. Additionally it doesn't make sense
that a bind mount should show up in df over a real root mount.

   * Explanation - These patches change behavior of df to rely on
/proc/self/mountinfo which has more complete info than /proc/mounts.
Such as what directory of the filesystem was used as the source of the
mount. Additionally given this new information there is a patch on df
itself to make use of this new information.

  [Test Case]

   * $ mount

  192.168.1.2:/raid on /raid type nfs
  /dev/sdc5 on /data type ext4 (rw)

  /data/a on /a type none (rw,bind)
  /raid/temp on /b type none (rw,bind)

  $df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on

  /data/a 449830616 229975284 196982196 54% /a
  /raid/temp 7752072192 5581343744 1780023296 76% /b

I'd expect to see the real mount prioritized over the bind mount. Like so.
  $df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on

  /dev/sdc5449830616 229975284 196982196 54% /data
  192.168.1.2:/raid 7752072192 5581438976 1779929088 76% /raid

  [Regression Potential]

   * Patch is upstreamed.

   * df command now relies on /proc/self/mountinfo

  [Other Info]

   * The behavior of df, mount and similar number of other commands has
changed going forward. Previously these commands all processed
/etc/mtab which was maintained by the mount command. Going forward
they still process /etc/mtab, but this is simply a symlink to
/proc/mounts now which is maintained by the kernel and slightly more
accurate. Unlike the mount command, the kernel makes no distinction
between bind mounts and normal mounts. This is evident by the fact
that you can mount a device, bind mount from that device, and then
unmount the original mount. The default behavior of df in this case
is to simply pick the mounted directory for a device that is the
shortest since it has no other information to go on from /proc/mounts.
Moving to using /proc/self/mountinfo resolves this issue, and is what
  upstream is doing moving forward.

   * In order to solve this issue, I have written patches and got them
integrated upstream.
  gnulib commit:
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=gnulib.git;a=commit;h=c6148bca89e9465fd6ba3a10d273ec4cb58c2dbe
 and

http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=coreutils.git;a=commit;h=3babaf83875ceac896c8dd3a64248e955dfecef9
  have been authored by me.

While attempting to push these patches into Ubuntu, it became apparent
that our version of coreutils does not contain the requisite patches
to correctly support /proc/self/mountinfo. /proc/self/mountinfo gives
more complete information than /proc/self/mounts which /etc/mtab now
points to. Using /proc/self/mountinfo is the upstream way of doing
things, and it allows us to resolve this specific bug.

Patches required in order to support /proc/self/mountinfo are.

When a bluetooth output device is paired no volume control thru
  indicator-sound

  Test Case:
  pair a bluetooth speaker

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1404729] Re: When a bluetooth output device is paired no volume control thru indicator-sound

2015-10-02 Thread pereze
Hi,

I actually found how to solve it.

Just edit this file:

sudo vi /etc/pulse/default.pa

And add the following:

# automatically switch to newly-connected devices
load-module module-switch-on-connect

Cheers!
