[Touch-packages] [Bug 1287640] Re: UbuntuOne account plugin does not work
AFAICR, creating the U1 account from the Unity control center has never been possible. The reason why the software is complaining about the missing libubuntuone.so module is because by default when we want to create an account for the provider we load the lib.so module. My guess is that the ubuntuone.provider file was added to ubuntuone-credentials-common because of the phone. As I can see it, the possible solutions are: 1) Find some packaging tricks so that ubuntuone.provider is installed only on phone images 2) The unity-control-center-signon should check for the existance of the plugins before showing the providers as available I think that for the convergence story, where you have both unity7 and unity8 installed on the same machine, fixing (2) is absolutely a must. ** Changed in: gnome-control-center-signon Assignee: (unassigned) => Alberto Mardegan (mardy) ** Changed in: gnome-control-center-signon Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: gnome-control-center-signon Importance: Undecided => High ** Also affects: webapps-sprint Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: webapps-sprint Assignee: (unassigned) => Alberto Mardegan (mardy) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center- signon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1287640 Title: UbuntuOne account plugin does not work Status in Online Accounts: GNOME Control Center: Confirmed Status in webapps-sprint: New Status in gnome-control-center-signon package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in ubuntuone-credentials package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gnome-control-center-signon source package in Xenial: Confirmed Status in ubuntuone-credentials source package in Xenial: Confirmed Bug description: When ubuntuone-credentials-common is installed, the Ubuntu One account is listed under the possible account types in gnome-control-center, but upon opening only a grey page is visible and errors are reported: (unity-control-center:22553): account-plugin-WARNING **: ap_client_load_plugin: module /usr/lib/libaccount- plugin-1.0/providers/libubuntuone.so not found: /usr/lib/libaccount- plugin-1.0/providers/libubuntuone.so: nie można otworzyć pliku obiektu dzielonego: Nie ma takiego pliku ani katalogu (unity-control-center:22553): credentials-cc-panel-CRITICAL **: cc- credentials-authorization-page.vala:54: No valid plugin found for provider ubuntuone What's more, it's currently possible to remove account-plugin- ubuntuone, but that doesn't remove the -common package above, so the account type is still listed as available. I suppose your journal output in comment #6 was from *after* you did "lxc stop"? If not, please re-send it. Let's check for you that everything is in place. Can you please copy&paste the output of $ lxc exec test -- ls -l /lib/systemd/system/sigpwr.target.wants/sigpwr- container-shutdown.service /lib/systemd/system/sigpwr-container- shutdown.service $ lxc exec test -- systemd-detect-virt and then *after* running "lxc stop", the output of $ lxc exec test -- systemctl status -l sigpwr-container-shutdown.service Thanks! ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1519499 Title: [systemd] SIGPWR doesn't always lead to shutdown Status in lxd package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: This is a follow-up on this issue here: https://github.com/lxc/lxd/issues/1336 I cannot stop a LXD container gently and as it seems the issue lies within ubuntu/systemd which does not handle SIGPWR correctly. I boot it at startup, but about 50% of the time it isn't visible after booting. The other 50% it is. So I can reboot or logout/login until it sticks. At first I thought it was a bug in tint2, but now I have found that I don't get this issues when I run the AMD proprietary driver (fglrx). So I think it might be a problem in the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver. I have a Radeon HD 8600M series in a Lenovo S540. Additional note: when it does not display and I power off the computer, it is displayed for a brief moment before the computer shuts down. That makes me think that it is actually a display problem, not a problem of tint2 not booting at all. Audacity has the issue of the seek speeding through the entirety of the audio file while emitting a static buzzing sound. The same thing happens on LMMS. On video editors that I've been working with, Openshot and Kdenlive, any audio file I put in is played out of sync to the point that the file is truncated early towards the end of the clip. I've also tested this on Unity and Plasma, so I know it isn't the desktop environment impacting anything. I have no clue what software package could be causing this, but I have a feeling it's likely something on Pulseaudio's end. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1418679] Re: Multiline text controls occasionally get corrupted on refresh
[Expired for xorg (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1418679 Title: Multiline text controls occasionally get corrupted on refresh Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: I have recently updated from Ubuntu 12.04 (32-bit) to Ubuntu MATE 14.10 (64-bit). After upgrading, I find that some text controls have a refresh issue that seems to get triggered either by scrolling or adding a new line when the text already contains more lines than can be displayed at a time. This happens infrequently and is not always reproducible. The issue is that some lines in the text control show as blank lines. I have noticed this happen in the following applications: * Eclipse 3.8 * Thunderbird (various versions) * Firefox (various versions). In Firefox text is occasionally clipped, but not necessarily at line boundaries. Other applications seem fine, it might be related to the widget toolkit (OTOH, the apps above use two different widget toolkits – Eclipse uses SWT while the other two use XUL). I am also seeing a different kind of output corruption in Terminal, which may or may not be related. Similar to the above, it happens when I press ENTER while at the bottom of the terminal window. I have seen the same issue on a second computer running a custom Linux build based on Kubuntu 12.04 (32-bit) with some components (including the kernel) being later versions than what is included in 12.04. A third computer, also running Ubuntu MATE 14.10, does not seem to have this issue. This seems to be a bug introduced into Ubuntu after 12.04, though I can't tell which component is at fault. It is possibly related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-7/+bug/1239607. I will post more details (including screenshots) soon, so bear with me. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1512608] Re: No thumbnails generated for OGG audio
OK, probably no need for the flash card, I think I have reproduced the problem. I'm attaching an archive that contains 7000 MP3 files, in subdirs of 1000 files each. Each MP3 is one second of silence, with exactly two tags, album and artist. The tags were created from server trace files (thanks Facundo!); they all have corresponding artwork in 7digital. Once mediascanner has done its thing, when I start the music app, I end up with lots of Bad Request responses from the server. Not sure why yet. But, the net effect is that we cache the failures and there are tons of "no artwork" icons shown in the music app. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to thumbnailer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512608 Title: No thumbnails generated for OGG audio Status in music-app package in Ubuntu: New Status in thumbnailer package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Setup: Core Music app BQ HD5 OTA-7 15.04 r6 Large collection of audio files in .ogg and .mp3 format on SD card Audio files tagged with Artist, Album titile, Track title etc. Expected result: Album covers and Artist images are displayed in Music app Actual result: Only mp3 audio files generate thumbnails. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1520346] Re: /etc/init/cups.override needs to get updated to work with the current version of CUPS
We are introducing CUPS to the phone, to get printing functionality. CUPS comes with a *.conf file, but this file is for standard desktop/server to have the CUPS daemon permanently running. The override file changes the behavior on the phone, to get the CUPS daemon running on-demand. The file in the current image from ubuntu-device-flash touch --channel=ubuntu-touch/devel-proposed/ubuntu calls CUPS with the option "-x 30" which CUPS does not support any more and therefore needs to get removed. /etc/init/cups.override works if it only contains the following: -- # cups - CUPS Printing spooler and server # socket activation overrides for touch start on socket PROTO=inet PORT=631 ADDR=127.0.0.1 exec /usr/sbin/cupsd -f -- Please change the file appropriately. At first I thought it was a LO-bug, but now I have found that I don't get this issues when I run the AMD proprietary driver (fglrx). So I think it might be a problem in the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver. I have a Radeon HD 8600M series in a Lenovo S540. The attached file shows an example of the bug that I had in Calc. The bottom right is the 'normal' text. Three lines, with the bottom one in bold. Depending on the zoom level, the text is distorted in many ways: bold / italic / font (appearance). Some extra information: -This happens in all LO-apps I use: Calc, Writer, Impress. -I don't have a clear way of reproducing it. The apps normally start out perfectly fine. After a while this can happen, not always. Risk factors seem to include having multiple LO-files open, especially between different apps. -It is not always that the 100% zoom level is ok. That can be distorted too. -This never ever happens in any other app / program I use. If this is unlikely to be caused by the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver, I apologize for reporting it here. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1481240] Re: Can't get correct location information before use other GPS apps
If I have a proper precise (GPS based) location (lat&long) in a scope from SearchMetadata.location().latitude()|longitude(), and then disable Location indicator > Location detection OR GPS, then reenable it and refresh the scope, I never get a precise location back. I am stuck with geo IP derived location. To demo this, I wrote a simple scope that merely gets the lat and long and logs it, or a message if ! has_location(). Here's the relevant code: void Query::run(us::SearchReplyProxy const& reply) { if (!metadata_.has_location()) { qDebug() << "LOCTEST: no location: " + QDateTime::currentDateTime().toString(); return; } try{ auto lat = metadata_.location().latitude(); auto lng = metadata_.location().longitude(); qDebug() << "LOCTEST: lat long: " + QString::number(lat) + " " + QString::number(lng) + " " + QDateTime::currentDateTime().toString(); } catch(unity::scopes::NotFoundException &e) { qWarning() << " Warning: Could not get location."; } } Query::Query(const us::CannedQuery &query, const us::SearchMetadata & metadata, const QVariant accessToken, QString const& cacheDir_) : SearchQueryBase(query, metadata), metadata_(metadata), cannedQuery(query), query_(query.query_string()), accessToken_(accessToken), cacheDir_(cacheDir_) { } Here are the results from scope-registry log grepped with LOCTEST. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1512129] Re: Headphones not detected at startup
Further investigation - this seems to be because I am running with a separate /var partition and the alsa systemd services are being started before the /var partition is mounted. I have tried altering my fstab to include the x-initrd.mount option as suggested at http://superuser.com/a/841748 on the /var partition (so the options end up being defaults,x-initrd.mount) but this appears to prevent the partition from being loaded altogether. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1519378] Re: Add access to download manager's new getUncollectedDownloads method in the networking profile
I'll mention that if the the download manager triggered off the payload for a member rule or added a member to a more generic rule, the profile would not have to change. I don't know the download manager API, but looking at an existing rule: dbus (receive, send) bus=session path=/com/canonical/applications/download/@{APP_ID_DBUS}/** interface=com.canonical.applications.Download peer=(label=unconfined), If you created a method in this path and under this interface, then it would just work. Alternatively, consider this rule: dbus (send) bus=session path=/ interface=com.canonical.applications.DownloadManager member=getAllDownloads peer=(label=unconfined), If getAllDownloads() took an argument of some sort (ie, the message data changes) then the policy also would not have to change. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1519378 Title: Add access to download manager's new getUncollectedDownloads method in the networking profile Status in Canonical System Image: Incomplete Status in apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: We're introducing a new method to download manager's dbus api in this branch: https://code.launchpad.net/~michael-sheldon/ubuntu-download- manager/persistent-download-model This allows the client side bindings to automatically request a list of downloads that have finished while the application was closed, so downloads are no longer lost if the app is closed or restarted before they finish. e.g. dbus (send) bus=session path=/ interface=com.canonical.applications.DownloadManager member=getUncollectedDownloads peer=(label=unconfined), To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1519378/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1357345] Re: tar: untaring with --recursive-unlink ends with an empty directory
In case someone is interested in this bug, what I remember I noticed later, is that `tar` extract a directory, then delete it, then try to add files in the just deleted directory (which turns to be wrong, obviously), then sometime recreate the directory, which ends to be empty. Someone should care, as `tar` is a core functionality. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to tar in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1357345 Title: tar: untaring with --recursive-unlink ends with an empty directory Status in tar package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Using tar version 1.26-4ubuntu1 from Ubuntu 12.04 (I'm submitting this case here, as I can't tell if it's specific to the tar shipped with Ubuntu or a bug with all tar, and this concerns Ubuntu base packages anyway). Using the attached archive file, running this: /bin/tar --extract --auto-compress --exclude-backups --exclude-caches --exclude-vcs --preserve-permissions --recursive-unlink --totals --unlink-first --verbose --file Sphinx.tar.xz; ls Sphinx … I get an empty directory, although the output says it extracted many things. This seems to be related to a buggy `--recursive-unlink` option, as this one works: /bin/tar --extract --auto-compress --exclude-backups --exclude-caches --exclude-vcs --preserve-permissions --totals --unlink-first --verbose --file Sphinx.tar.xz; ls Sphinx … the directory is not empty any‑more. I get this unexpected behaviour with this archive only, not with others. My guess is that it's due to the order in which the entries appears in the tar file. Indeed, the Sphinx top level directory is listed last, and its content before it, so tar extract its content then delete all the directory to recreate the directory, emptied. I can't believe this is the expected behaviour. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1521365] [NEW] Crashes and missing thumbnails
Public bug reported: I've transferred the info for this from here because, apparently, the original bug report was encountering two separate problems:https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system- image/+bug/1512257 I can reproduce this with rc-proposed build 278 on Mako. The gallery app shows nothing (just white background) where a thumbnail should be. Pawel saw the same thing and posted a screenshot here: http://imgur.com/a/j2yoW To reproduce, start out with a clean cache (thumbnailer-admin clear) and an empty photo roll, and with neither gallery nor camera running. Take twenty pictures with the camera. Start the gallery app from the launcher. For me everything works fine at this point, thumbnails show up as expected. Go back to the camera app (via launcher). Take ten more shots. Go back to the gallery (via launcher). At this point, the gallery app showed the problem briefly and then crashed, so I re-started the app. After doing that, it showed the thumbnails correctly. Go back to the camera app, take ten more pictures, back to gallery-app, etc. Eventually, the problem will show up (if the gallery app doesn't crash). I have verified from the thumbnailer trace that, each time I return to the gallery app, the app asks for thumbnails for the newly-added images (plus a bunch of others), and the thumbnailer correctly returns those, so this is not a thumbnailer problem. ** Affects: gallery-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: thumbnailer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Triaged ** Also affects: thumbnailer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: thumbnailer (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gallery-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521365 Title: Crashes and missing thumbnails Status in gallery-app package in Ubuntu: New Status in thumbnailer package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: I've transferred the info for this from here because, apparently, the original bug report was encountering two separate problems:https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system- image/+bug/1512257 I can reproduce this with rc-proposed build 278 on Mako. However, on occasion, it seems to be very hard to "grab" a task to drag it downwards. Strangely enough, this doesn't happen consistently. Last it happened to me, I accidentally opened the camera app, and when wanting to close it, I couldn't drag it down, however I could drag down the other running apps that were running at the time without problems. When I re-attempted the same thing just as I am typing this up, I noticed that even dragging down the camera app now works fine. Not sure what changed... Three might be considered a lot except that emoji is on a separate keyboard and everyone needs emoji, so this would affect any bilingual user. Simply tapping the globe icon on the keyboard will never allow you to select all three, it just toggles between the last two used. You have to long press, then locate the keyboard entry you want, then tap it. The irritating thing is that I usually switch between English and Chinese, so a single tap mostly works. Unless I inserted an emoji, in which case it switches to that instead. So switching to Chinese often involves: * tap globe icon * notice it's wrong * long press globe icon * select Chinese But then, I want to re-establish English as my next favourite option, so before I actually type: * long press globe icon * select English * tap globe icon (to switch back to Chinese) ...and now I can type my Chinese, if I can even remember what I wanted to say after all of that. Most other keyboards just cycle through all the keyboards, and that's what a single tap should do here. I can imagine a better, if complicated system. Imagine if instead of a menu, long pressing brought up a constellation surrounding the globe button. Say my keyboards are English, German, Chinese and Emoji: DE ZH \ / EN --- o --- Em Once I'd learned the layout, I could switch to any layout I want by swiping from the globe in the appropriate direction. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1508081] Re: Fails to receive OTA updates
Seeing a similar symptom trying to install a large app (file manager) from the store, the download starts fast, slows down then times out. At the same time the browser is responsive, pings, etc. This was on a reasonably fast 3G connection. Switching to a slightly faster wifi connection (only 4G) after a reboot restarted the download where it left off but then pulled 144% of the fie and declared failure due to a timeout, but it clearly did not timeout. I also accepted it, but I needed to activate it somewhere in the settings somehow… Systen Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Other app access -> Camera I thought I accidently pressed the wrong button, but I'm not the only one… yep and if you acc denied then you have no idea what's happening not to mention that the settings are basically hidden :)) Systen Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Other app access -> Camera 😱 the camera really ought to say "camera access revoked; re-enable in system settings" if it's revoked yeah, that would be good It is possible to revoke the camera app's access to the camera. This is, I suppose, OK, but if it's been done then the camera app should display "access revoked" or similar, rather than just a black screen, and explain how to re-enable access. I suppose letting an app know that it has been revoked (rather than just lying by giving it a black screen and claiming that that's what the camera sees) is a security violation (should apps know they have been revoked?) but the revocation settings are well-hidden (as mentioned) and people will be very confused if they accidentally revoke the camera-app's access to the camera and don't know how to turn it back on; the camera app could be a lot more helpful here. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1267059] Re: "Unattended-Upgrade::Remove-Unused-Dependencies" does not work
Just chipping in to say that it's very frustrating to see this marked with a status of "Fix released". Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what that implies, but: - all my servers running 14.04 LTS don't have the fix yet - and apparently won't get it unless I take action - if I'm reading the above comments right, I have to add trusty-backports to get it (and it may not even *be* in there yet) Very unsatisfactory and unclear. I'm advising that for all our servers with this issue that we add the simple "...running apt-get -y auto remove on a cron job..." fix suggested above by Travis. That may be a hack, but seem to me to be safer that enabling backports on production servers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unattended-upgrades in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1267059 Title: "Unattended-Upgrade::Remove-Unused-Dependencies" does not work Status in unattended-upgrades package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: I have a system that runs unattended-upgrades just fine. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1520568] Re: All queries fails when 'google' is used: ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR
I just noticed this today. AFAICT, it only affects https to www.google.com and other Google subdomains (first noticed on docs.google.com). It does not affect Firefox. Odder still, I have two fully up-to-date (AFAICT) Xenial machines, both amd64. One of them connects to https://www.google.com just fine, the other produces the error shown here. https to other sites, e.g. Launchpad, gitlab, github, etc. all work fine. No proxies involved, no weird networking setups afaict (I did have bridge networking set up on the failing machine, but disabled that and still had the problem after a reboot). Running chromium in --verbose mode on the console didn't show up anything obvious. I even disabled all plugins and it still had the problem after a browser restart. But at least I have two systems that are exhibiting different behavior, so maybe that can help debug the issue.
