[Touch-packages] [Bug 1526736] Re: Need possibility to turn personal contacts in to a gmail database

2015-12-22 Thread Gabriele
** Description changed:

  Hi to everyone,

  I use Acquaris UT E4.5 OTA 8

-
- When you edit a contact in your address book , there is no possibility to
change the position ( es.da personal contact to gmail contact and vice versa ).
+ When you edit a contact in your address book , there is no possibility
+ to change the position ( for example, from personal contact to gmail
+ contact and vice versa ).

This is important when , for example , if I want to synchronize in gmail
one contact which I had in my personal address book .

It would be useful also to have an option that allows a multi-selection,
for do it in a single switch

Bug description:

/usr/share/upstart/sessions/upstart-event-bridge.conf

This issue has been reported many times by the past, and already fixed:
   https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/901038/comments/14
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/1449765

Some workarounds also have been proposed, like:
  dpkg-divert --local --rename --add /sbin/initctl
  ln -s /bin/true /sbin/initctl

But with the recent ubuntu realeases systemd is now doing more & more
jobs previously done by upstart. So the solutions of the past might
not be the best choice nowadays.

And the http://upstart.ubuntu.com/cookbook/ seems outdated as it does
  not consider the systemd existence.

Bug description:
If the 'anchorToKeyboard' property of a MainView is set to true, the

OSK panel when the OSK is up. It seems this works only in portrait
  mode.

See the attached example to observe the issue (tested on a Galaxy
Nexus), when in landscape orientation with the OSK up, some key
presses go through the OSK to the contents of the view below it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1424588] Re: [sdk] Need a context menu component

Title:
[sdk] Need a context menu component

Status in Ubuntu UX:
  Fix Committed
Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The design for the browser app’s contextual menu requires the popover
to be centered inside its caller (the webview). See

https://docs.google.com/a/canonical.com/presentation/d/1woHjO8K4iqyVZZlfQ4BXL0DhYbwkEmZ7wvcUhYzHDRk/edit#slide=id.g34608d763_079
for reference. The popover is opened using PopupUtils.open(…).

I’ve tried two different approaches to achieve that, but none actually
  works:

   - passing the webview as the caller
   - passing no caller parameter at all

In both cases, the popover is horizontally centered, but it’s anchored
to the top of the scene.

I’m attaching a standalone example that demonstrates the issue.

behaviour (nothing happens) is experienced with microphone connected
to line in on docking station.

  ### Expected behaviour
Plugging in external speakers to docking station should turn off sound from
laptop internal speakers.

Plugging in microphone to line in on docking station should switch
from "internal microphone" to "microphone" in Ubuntu sound settings.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1267059] Re: "Unattended-Upgrade::Remove-Unused-Dependencies" does not work

2015-12-22 Thread Peter Grandi
Note that this long story started from kernel upgrades, and so far
nobody has made an important point...

When you install a new kernel package, you may want to remove all
previous versions indeed, *except* the one that is currently running.

Because if you remove the package for the currently running kernel, if
you add a new device or do anything that requires loading a module, that
will fail. This is because kernel modules by default require an exactly
matching kernel version, unlike shared objects or other stuff that gets
upgraded. A few other useful things will fail if a running kernel is not
matched by an installed package.

This would require extra logic to special-case the kernel packages for
this.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1528279] Re: Spinner not shown

2015-12-22 Thread Kevin DuBois
USC xenial migration is jammed up in proposed (and too many people are
out on vacation to correct the problem, or so I'm told). So the fix
can't land until the jam is cleared, probably have to wait until
January.

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
If I let my linux laptop on for a night, in standby mode, without
disabling networking then it won't let me turn on networking.

My laptop is the Acer Aspire 7551 7551-P322G25Mnsk.
Information about my Wireless network card and the logs of the WiFi are in
the attachment.
I've hidden my MAC address and my network SSID in the attachment.

It's a bit annoying if I need to let files and programs (also files
according to everything is a file) open and I need to reboot, I lose
some of my work after the reboot, or don't I?

I hope this is enough information,

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1523100] Re: Alsa not detecting internal microphone [ALC255]

2015-12-22 Thread Dennis Marttinen
Barry,

1. There is no real benefit of 16.04, as it now has an older kernel
(4.3) than is available for wily (4.4). It once had better Intel HD
graphics support, but now the support has landed in 15.10. I'm now
running Ubuntu 15.10 too.

2. I've already tried node 0x19 for the internal microphone, but it
doesn't work (either I hear nothing or just plain white noise).

3. I'm not sure about the combined mic/headset jack. If they would have
integrated one in this PC, why would there then be a separate microphone
jack?

Raymond, I tested the internal mic using both sound recorder and cheese
and tried the stereo channels separately and together (using
pavucontrol) while going through the nodes in hdajackretask. You have a
point with the phasing, I might go through the nodes again just to make
sure, as I might have forgotten to try the channels separately on some
nodes :)

  I've just installed Ubuntu 16.04 alongside Windows 10 on a 64bit Acer

work. The computer has been released a couple of months ago and it's
Intel Skylake -based with a Sunrise Point -based motherboard.

INFO: The problem exists in Ubuntu 15.10 too, only microphone jack
detected. Currently using Ubuntu 16.04 for proper hardware support.

Alsa reports the audio device to be:

  Card: HDA Intel PCH
  Chip: Intel Skylake HDMI

The speakers are working fine, but both alsamixer and pavucontrol
(Pulseaudio Volume Control) raport the unplugged external microphone
connector as the only sound input.

I have tried many of the alsa model configurations (options snd-hda-

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1510655] Re: Phone app shows all number types under "recent" as "Mobile"

2015-12-22 Thread Bill Filler
I can confirm this. Also if you change the label for a contact's phone
number in the address book, the changes are not reflected in the Recents
if you have a call from that person. It always seems to show up as
Mobile regardless of label when the call was originally made or after
you've changed it in Contacts app.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1508081] Re: Fails to receive OTA updates

2015-12-22 Thread Michael Sheldon
It'd be useful if we could get the full system ubuntu-download-manager
log next time this happens from /var/log/ubuntu-download-manager/ (not
the user log from .cache/ubuntu-download-manager).

In attempting to reproduce this I was able to on one occasion get the
system into a state where download manager permanently believed that the
network connection was "gsm" even when connected to wifi (and since the
system image download settings prevent download over gsm it caused the
downloads to be permanently queued), so this may be what's happening
here. I haven't been able to reproduce it since however, so it'd be good
to see the logs next time this occurs for someone else and see if the
same has happened.

  Ubuntu Touch 15.04 (r23) [mako]

Issue: Phone appears to fail to receive OTA updates. Previously, I jumped
from (r15) to (r23) due to missing OTA updates. Currently, I see (r24) appears
to be released on 2015 Oct 16.
Expected behavior: System Settings > System > Updates (or System Settings >
About this phone > Check for updates) reveals new image that I can release and
download.
Actual behavior: Checking for updates... > Software is up to date

See the comment regarding similar issues for large app installs.
It seems if anything interrupts the transfer or if the connection is somewhat
slow the download performance degenerates then times out.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1528139] Re: serialize_profile_from_old_profile() crash if file contains multiple profiles

2015-12-22 Thread Christian Boltz
Comment 9 is a different bug, see https://launchpad.net/bugs/1525119
(already fixed in bzr). Since logparser.py got quite some fixes since
the 2.10 release, try replacing your logparser.py with
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~apparmor-
dev/apparmor/2.10/view/head:/utils/apparmor/logparser.py (I can't
guarantee it's compatible with 2.10.0, but it should be)

For the /usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-dhcp-client.action profile - it hides
in your /etc/apparmor.d/sbin.dhclient ;-)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1528522] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-12-22 Thread FM33
Frequency of reproduction has spaced. After having it 5-6 times in the
first 30min, I could use the machine without incident for almost 2
hours, and then ~2h again after this last incident. Then I shut the
machine down normally.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1523100] Re: Alsa not detecting internal microphone [ALC255]

2015-12-22 Thread Dennis Marttinen
I've gone through the nodes, now making sure to test each channel
separately, but still nothing. Anything else we could try? I'm pretty
sure the microphone is not in the Realtec ALC255 protocol, but still
connected to the Intel sound card.

Title:
Alsa not detecting internal microphone [ALC255]

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I've just installed Ubuntu 16.04 alongside Windows 10 on a 64bit Acer
Aspire VN7-792G and noticed, that the internal microphone doesn't

I have tried many of the alsa model configurations (options snd-hda-
intel model=something) without success, alsa finds only the microphone
jack, which works fine when I plug an external microphone in it.

  Here's some info:

  lspci | grep -I audio:

00:1f.3 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-H
  HD Audio (rev 31)

  cat /proc/asound/cards:

  0 [PCH]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel PCH
HDA Intel PCH at 0x8432 irq 128

And a clip from dmesg | grep snd:

  [3.019164] snd_hda_intel :00:1f.3: bound :00:02.0 (ops
i915_audio_component_bind_ops [i915])
  [3.047505] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0: autoconfig for ALC255:
line_outs=1 (0x14/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) type:speaker
  [3.047508] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0:speaker_outs=0
(0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
  [3.047510] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0:hp_outs=1
(0x21/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0)
  [3.047511] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0:mono: mono_out=0x0
  [3.047512] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0:dig-out=0x1e/0x0
  [3.047512] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0:inputs:
  [3.047514] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0: Mic=0x1a

One problem is that I can't find any model options (options snd-hda-
intel model=something) or other parameters for the card's model
(ALC255), I suppose this issue is relatively new.

When the "Marron in trouble" games launches a sound the multimedia
sink it's updated and when reading the volume it's always 100%.

I'ts not 100% for other applications using the multimedia role, like
the music app or other games/apps. The volume in that case is in sync
with the volume that was previously set for it.

This is the code from the indicator-sound where we get the 100%
  volume.

  var props_variant = yield _pconn.call
("org.PulseAudio.Ext.StreamRestore1.RestoreEntry",
sink_input_objp,
"org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties", "Get",
new Variant ("(ss)",
"org.PulseAudio.Ext.StreamRestore1.RestoreEntry", "Volume"),
null, DBusCallFlags.NONE, -1);
Variant tmp;
props_variant.get ("(v)", out tmp);
uint32 type = 0, volume = 0;
VariantIter iter = tmp.iterator ();
iter.next ("(uu)", , );

I did a workaround branch in the indicator-sound that reads the volume
at initilaization for every role and stores any change When the sink
is updated I read the volume in it that is already stored instead of
  reading the volume from pulse.

I'm not convinced of that, and would like to know why I get 100%
volume only for this particular game.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1528651] [NEW] Code and functional issues with new download in browser feature

2015-12-22 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Public bug reported:

The new "download in browser" feature just landed. This works nicely,
but there are a few remaining (mostly minor) issues that need to be
addressed now. I’m filing this bug to track them all, we may want to
break it up in several bugs if/where relevant.

Code issues:
∘ encapsulation broken in DownloadHandler.qml with references to
'downloadsModel'
∘ encapsulation broken in DownloadDelegate.qml with references to
'downloadManager'
∘ missing autopilot tests for file upload, picking webbrowser-app (including
multiple files)
∘ showDownloadsPage() doesn’t make much sense on WebViewImpl, should be an
internal function
∘ contentHandlerLoader should have "asynchronous: true"
∘ use default PageHeader from UITK instead of custom BrowserPageHeader?
∘ increase test coverage for the DownloadsModel C++ class
∘ for consistency, downloadsContainer should be made a Loader, as done in
https://code.launchpad.net/~osomon/webbrowser-app/keyboard-shortcuts-focus-fixes/+merge/280083
∘ in Downloader.qml and Browser.qml, calls to Component.createObject() should
pass the properties as second parameter, instead of setting them afterwards
∘ DownloadsModel should probably be made a singleton type, like HistoryModel
and BookmarksModel
∘ includes are not ordered alphabetically in downloads-model.cpp
∘ in DownloadsModel::moveToDownloads(), the [if (QFile::exists(destination))]
statement is useless, the do…while loop is enough

Functional issues:
∘ the "No Downloads available" message is confusing in picker mode, it would be
clearer if it made it explicit that no download matching the expected file type
is available
∘ while in edit mode in the downloads page, the 'delete' icon should probably
be disabled if no download is selected (it currently is enabled and exits
select mode)
∘ save link from context menu doesn’t work great with links to other pages: no
mime type is displayed (and sometimes even no title), and then the page is
saved without an html extension, it can be viewed with the document viewer, but
this displays the source of the page, it doesn’t render it (we may need special
casing for HTML files in the download folder to open them directly in the
browser)
∘ (possibly a bug in the UITK?) upload form that accepts only one file, can end
up selecting two: select first, then second, then first again, then second
again, and both are selected
∘ when downloading an image to the gallery, I’m seeing this message in the log:
Failed moving file from
"/home/phablet/.cache/com.ubuntu.gallery/HubIncoming/2/capture2.png" to
"/home/phablet/Downloads/capture2.png"

[Touch-packages] [Bug 979067] Re: NM fails to configure routing correctly when connect to two LANs

2015-12-22 Thread Ouroborus
I have a similar situation (at least it fits the title). I have two
wired NICs, one configured for static (10GbE) and the other configured
for DHCP (1GbE). Only the DHCP-configured NIC ever has internet access.
It seems that no matter how I arrange things, NetworkManager sets the
default route to be the internet-less, static-configured NIC.

Title:
NM fails to configure routing correctly when connect to two LANs

Status in dnsmasq package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
My computer happens to be connected to two networks through eth0 and
wlan0. NetworkManager connects to both of them automatically and use
DHCP for both of them. Both networks are protected from the outside by
firewalls and they are lots of DNS servers (obtained automatically).
Since the upgrade to Precise, DNS no longer works without manual
  intervention.

What happens is that, since bug #903854, dnsmasq no longer receives
the option --strict-order. As a consequence, it tries servers in a
random order to resolve DNS requests. In particular, it tries to
access DNS servers from the wireless network through the eth0 route,
which crosses a firewall, and therefore it fails to resolve requests.
It takes a lot of failures before all the unreachable servers have
been exhausted, which makes for a poor user experience.

With the --strict-order option, dnsmasq tries to access servers that
can be accessed by the default route, which succeeds immediately. Note
that I am not sure that --strict-order is the proper fix and it may
only be papering over a real bug, but at least it does fix the issue.

  network-manager: 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu2
  dnsmasq-base: 2.59-4

Bug description:
Installing a minimal virtualenv on Trusty Tahr (using libpython-

File "/usr/lib/python2.7/ssl.py", line 491, in inner
  import configparser
  ImportError: No module named configparser

Looking at the code in ssl.py, it uses "import configparser" even
though the package is called "ConfigParser" in Python 2.7 (it changed
in 3.0), this means that a clean virtualenv cannot install any
packages using easy_install (since they're served over an https
connection which uses the code in ssl.py).

As a workaround, you can `pip install configparser` to install the
package under the 3.0 name or change the code to be `import
ConfigParser as configparser` to import the correct package.
