Plugging in microphone to line in on docking station, nothing happens. ### Hardware Laptop: HP EliteBook 840 G2 Product number: H9W19EA#AK8 Docking station: HP UltraSlim Dock 2013 EURO Product number: D9Y32AA ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 Package: alsa-base 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.19.0-21.21-generic 3.19.8 Uname: Linux 3.19.0-21-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.17.2-0ubuntu1.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC2: chol 2001 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: chol 2001 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: chol 2001 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Jul 2 08:16:15 2015 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-06-05 (26 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release amd64 (20150422) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: alsa-driver Symptom: audio Symptom_AlsaPlaybackTest: ALSA playback test through plughw:PCH successful Symptom_Card: Built-in Audio - HDA Intel PCH Symptom_Jack: Black Headphone Out, Right Symptom_PulsePlaybackTest: PulseAudio playback test successful Symptom_Type: Only some of outputs are working Title: [HP EliteBook 840 G2, Realtek ALC3228, Black Headphone Out, Right] Playback problem UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 02/24/2015 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: M71 Ver. 01.04 dmi.board.name: 2216 dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.board.version: KBC Version 96.54 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: 5CG5093YZ7 dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrM71Ver.01.04:bd02/24/2015:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPEliteBook840G2:pvrA3009D410303:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn2216:rvrKBCVersion96.54:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct10:cvr: dmi.product.name: HP EliteBook 840 G2 dmi.product.version: A3009D410303 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1470730/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1267059] Re: "Unattended-Upgrade::Remove-Unused-Dependencies" does not work
Note that this long story started from kernel upgrades, and so far nobody has made an important point... When you install a new kernel package, you may want to remove all previous versions indeed, *except* the one that is currently running. Because if you remove the package for the currently running kernel, if you add a new device or do anything that requires loading a module, that will fail. This is because kernel modules by default require an exactly matching kernel version, unlike shared objects or other stuff that gets upgraded. A few other useful things will fail if a running kernel is not matched by an installed package. This would require extra logic to special-case the kernel packages for this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unattended-upgrades in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1267059 Title: "Unattended-Upgrade::Remove-Unused-Dependencies" does not work Status in unattended-upgrades package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in unattended-upgrades source package in Precise: Fix Committed Status in unattended-upgrades source package in Trusty: Fix Released Bug description: I have a system that runs unattended-upgrades just fine. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1523100] Re: Alsa not detecting internal microphone [ALC255]
Barry, 1. There is no real benefit of 16.04, as it now has an older kernel (4.3) than is available for wily (4.4). It once had better Intel HD graphics support, but now the support has landed in 15.10. I'm now running Ubuntu 15.10 too. 2. I've already tried node 0x19 for the internal microphone, but it doesn't work (either I hear nothing or just plain white noise). 3. I'm not sure about the combined mic/headset jack. If they would have integrated one in this PC, why would there then be a separate microphone jack? Raymond, I tested the internal mic using both sound recorder and cheese and tried the stereo channels separately and together (using pavucontrol) while going through the nodes in hdajackretask. You have a point with the phasing, I might go through the nodes again just to make sure, as I might have forgotten to try the channels separately on some nodes :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1523100 Title: Alsa not detecting internal microphone [ALC255] Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I've just installed Ubuntu 16.04 alongside Windows 10 on a 64bit Acer Aspire VN7-792G and noticed, that the internal microphone doesn't work. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1508081] Re: Fails to receive OTA updates
It'd be useful if we could get the full system ubuntu-download-manager log next time this happens from /var/log/ubuntu-download-manager/ (not the user log from .cache/ubuntu-download-manager). In attempting to reproduce this I was able to on one occasion get the system into a state where download manager permanently believed that the network connection was "gsm" even when connected to wifi (and since the system image download settings prevent download over gsm it caused the downloads to be permanently queued), so this may be what's happening here. I haven't been able to reproduce it since however, so it'd be good to see the logs next time this occurs for someone else and see if the same has happened. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-download-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1508081 Title: Fails to receive OTA updates Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in ubuntu-download-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu Touch 15.04 (r23) [mako] Issue: Phone appears to fail to receive OTA updates. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1528139] Re: serialize_profile_from_old_profile() crash if file contains multiple profiles
Comment 9 is a different bug, see https://launchpad.net/bugs/1525119 (already fixed in bzr). Since logparser.py got quite some fixes since the 2.10 release, try replacing your logparser.py with http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~apparmor- dev/apparmor/2.10/view/head:/utils/apparmor/logparser.py (I can't guarantee it's compatible with 2.10.0, but it should be) For the /usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-dhcp-client.action profile - it hides in your /etc/apparmor.d/sbin.dhclient ;-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apparmor in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1528139 Title: serialize_profile_from_old_profile() crash if file contains multiple profiles Status in AppArmor: New Status in AppArmor 2.10 series: New Status in apparmor package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: = Changed Local Profiles = The following local profiles were changed. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1528651] [NEW] Code and functional issues with new download in browser feature
Public bug reported: The new "download in browser" feature just landed. This works nicely, but there are a few remaining (mostly minor) issues that need to be addressed now. I’m filing this bug to track them all, we may want to break it up in several bugs if/where relevant. Code issues: ∘ encapsulation broken in DownloadHandler.qml with references to 'downloadsModel' ∘ encapsulation broken in DownloadDelegate.qml with references to 'downloadManager' ∘ missing autopilot tests for file upload, picking webbrowser-app (including multiple files) ∘ showDownloadsPage() doesn’t make much sense on WebViewImpl, should be an internal function ∘ contentHandlerLoader should have "asynchronous: true" ∘ use default PageHeader from UITK instead of custom BrowserPageHeader? ∘ increase test coverage for the DownloadsModel C++ class ∘ for consistency, downloadsContainer should be made a Loader, as done in https://code.launchpad.net/~osomon/webbrowser-app/keyboard-shortcuts-focus-fixes/+merge/280083 ∘ in Downloader.qml and Browser.qml, calls to Component.createObject() should pass the properties as second parameter, instead of setting them afterwards ∘ DownloadsModel should probably be made a singleton type, like HistoryModel and BookmarksModel ∘ includes are not ordered alphabetically in downloads-model.cpp ∘ in DownloadsModel::moveToDownloads(), the [if (QFile::exists(destination))] statement is useless, the do…while loop is enough Functional issues: ∘ the "No Downloads available" message is confusing in picker mode, it would be clearer if it made it explicit that no download matching the expected file type is available ∘ while in edit mode in the downloads page, the 'delete' icon should probably be disabled if no download is selected (it currently is enabled and exits select mode) ∘ save link from context menu doesn’t work great with links to other pages: no mime type is displayed (and sometimes even no title), and then the page is saved without an html extension, it can be viewed with the document viewer, but this displays the source of the page, it doesn’t render it (we may need special casing for HTML files in the download folder to open them directly in the browser) ∘ (possibly a bug in the UITK?) upload form that accepts only one file, can end up selecting two: select first, then second, then first again, then second again, and both are selected ∘ when downloading an image to the gallery, I’m seeing this message in the log: Failed moving file from "/home/phablet/.cache/com.ubuntu.gallery/HubIncoming/2/capture2.png" to "/home/phablet/Downloads/capture2.png" ** Affects: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Michael Sheldon (michael-sheldon) Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to webbrowser-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1528651 Title: Code and functional issues with new download in browser feature Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The new "download in browser" feature just landed. [Touch-packages] [Bug 979067] Re: NM fails to configure routing correctly when connect to two LANs
I have a similar situation (at least it fits the title). I have two wired NICs, one configured for static (10GbE) and the other configured for DHCP (1GbE). Only the DHCP-configured NIC ever has internet access. It seems that no matter how I arrange things, NetworkManager sets the default route to be the internet-less, static-configured NIC. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/979067 Title: NM fails to configure routing correctly when connect to two LANs Status in dnsmasq package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: My computer happens to be connected to two networks through eth0 and wlan0. NetworkManager connects to both of them automatically and use DHCP for both of them. Both networks are protected from the outside by firewalls and they are lots of DNS servers (obtained automatically). Since the upgrade to Precise, DNS no longer works without manual intervention. What happens is that, since bug #903854, dnsmasq no longer receives the option --strict-order. As a consequence, it tries servers in a random order to resolve DNS requests. In particular, it tries to access DNS servers from the wireless network through the eth0 route, which crosses a firewall, and therefore it fails to resolve requests. It takes a lot of failures before all the unreachable servers have been exhausted, which makes for a poor user experience. With the --strict-order option, dnsmasq tries to access servers that can be accessed by the default route, which succeeds immediately. Note that I am not sure that --strict-order is the proper fix and it may only be papering over a real bug, but at least it does fix the issue. network-manager: 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu2 dnsmasq-base: 2.59-4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/979067/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
