Bug description:
  Dear Maintainer,

A remote execution vulnerability has been reported in zeromq. Full
details can be found on the upstream issue tracker [1].

The issue is fixed in upstream version v4.3.1, just released, or with
the attached patch which is targeted for v4.2.5 (bionic and cosmic).

The latest version will hopefully arrive in disco via debian unstable
soon, but I would recommend patching older releases.

As mentioned in the upstream tracker and the changelog, the issue can
be mitigated by ASLR and by authentication via CURVE/GSSAPI. As far as
I am aware no CVEs have been assigned nor have been requested as of
  now.

2019-01-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package openjdk-lts - 11.0.2+9-3ubuntu1

---
openjdk-lts (11.0.2+9-3ubuntu1) disco; urgency=medium

  * Sync packages with 11.0.2+9-3:
- Fix Zero on sparc64 (Adrian Glaubitz). Closes: #920315.
- Link zero on alpha with --no-relax (Michael Cree). Addresses: #920161.
- Don't run the tests on alpha, causing build failure.
- jhsdb isn't built on alpha.
- Backport the fix for 8214002 (cannot use italic font style if the font
  has embedded bitmap). LP: #1799014.
  * Sync packages with 11.0.2+9-2:

Since update to Cosmic, I see that bold fonts in Java have broken
rendering. See attached 400% scaled PNG for illustration. The 'r' in
bold rendering of "Hello World" shows basically a vertical line from
the end of the hook end. I am not entirely sure this is freetype issue
  but some sources (https://github.com/adobe/brackets/issues/14290)
suggest there is a bug in the 2.8.1 version that Cosmic seems to
  install (libfreetype6/cosmic,now 2.8.1-2ubuntu2 amd64 [installed]).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1738676] Re: With natural scrolling, horizontal sliders behave backwards

2019-01-25 Thread Cubic PPA
Issues is still present in 18.10. (I do see that the cosmic and disco
tags were added).

Title:
With natural scrolling, horizontal sliders behave backwards

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When natural-scrolling is enabled, controlling horizontal sliders is
  backwards and counter intuitive.

The volume control in the top-bar "speaker" icon is backwards.

  You have to...
  - scroll DOWN, to INCREASE the volume
  - scroll UP, to DECREASE the volume

  Expected behavior:

  Enable natural-scrolling and
  - scroll UP, to INCREASE the volume
  - scroll DOWN, to DECREASE the volume
  - scroll UP, to INCREASE the screen brightness
  - scroll DOWN, to DECREASE the screen brightness

Enable natural-scrolling, hover over a horizontal slider, and...
  - scroll UP, to move the slider to the RIGHT
  - scroll DOWN, to move the slider to the LEFT

This happens for the OSD volume icon, and for the volume slider in the
  topbar menu.

This also happens for screen brightness controls.

This problem occurs for both mouse natural-scrolling and touchpad
  natural scrolling.

  Expected fix:

When the pointer hovers over the speaker icon in the scroll actions on the
speaker icon in the top bar should be reversed.
When the user interacts with a horizontal slider, scrolling to the top should
always move the slider to the right, and scrolling down should always move the
slider to the left, even if natural-scrolling is enabled.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1810840] Re: whoopsie can't remember "always report" setting

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

Title:
whoopsie can't remember "always report" setting

Status in whoopsie-preferences package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After ticking the checkbox for whoopsie to automatically always send
crash reports, I get the following error dialog (screenshot attached):

*Can't remember send report status settings*
Saving crash report state failed. Can't set auto or never reporting mode.
  Command '['/usr/bin/gdbus', 'call', '-y', '-d',
'com.ubuntu.WhoopsiePreferences', '-o', '/com/ubuntu/WhoopsiePreferences',
'-m', 'com.ubuntu.WhoopsiePreferences.SetReportCrashes', 'true']' returned
  non-zero exit status 1.

I'm pretty sure this error happens because whoopsie-preferences was not
installed; afterwards I installed whoopsie-preferences and manually ran in a
terminal:
  $ /usr/bin/gdbus call -y -d com.ubuntu.WhoopsiePreferences -o
/com/ubuntu/WhoopsiePreferences -m
com.ubuntu.WhoopsiePreferences.SetReportCrashes true

and got a return value of () but no errors or warnings.

This computer was freshly-installed with Xubuntu 18.04 less than 2
weeks ago... I've kept a record of everything I changed since then,
and I've only removed five packages (sgt-puzzles, gnome-sudoku, gnome-

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1768230] Re: Long time booting : Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to device scanning.

2019-01-25 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Marc, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ubiquity into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/18.04.14.11 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu Bionic)
   Status: New => Fix Committed

** Tags removed: verification-failed-bionic

Title:
Long time booting : Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to
  device scanning.

  Fix Released
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in initramfs-tools source package in Bionic:

Status in ubiquity source package in Bionic:

Bug description:
  [SRU Justification]
A regression in initramfs-tools causes it to autogenerate config in the
initramfs saying to resume from any available swap devices, but references the
swap device by UUID, which is not a canonical form for referring to LVM volumes
(because of snapshotting, they are not unique). Ubiquity also generates a file
in /etc at install time which references the swap partition in the same way.
Since the lvm2 initramfs hooks also only activate precisely those LVs that are
detected as needed at boot, this adds an inappropriate 30-second boot delay to
any system with swap on LVM, which includes any desktop system that was
configured with LVM (but not full-disk encryption) at install time.

  [Test case]
  1. Install using the "Use LVM" option in the desktop installer.
  4. Reboot.
  5. Verify that dmesg shows a 30-second delay before mounting the root
filesystem.
  6. Install initramfs-tools from bionic-proposed.
  7. Reboot.
  8. Verify that dmesg no longer shows a 30-second delay before mounting the
root filesystem.
  9. Install using the bionic daily image that contains the ubiquity from
bionic-proposed.
  10. Reboot.
  11. Verify that /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume is not present and that
there is no delay before mounting the root filesystem.

  [Regression potential]
This makes changes to shell scripts, and shell is a perilous language. An
unnoticed bug could cause all initramfs generation, and thus all kernel
installation, to fail for some users. A regression could also cause a user to
lose hiberation support that they currently have.

  [Original description]
After choosing "Erase disk and install ubuntu" + "Use LVM with the new Ubuntu
installation", the
system is very slow to reboot.

It shows the message : "WARNING:Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to
device scanning.",
then waits 32 seconds, then continues as it should.

I think this is a ubiquity bug, since the d-i based installer is not affected.

2019-01-25 Thread Anthony Godshall
OK, I found a workaround:

$ sudo apt install systemd=229-4ubuntu4 libsystemd0=229-4ubuntu4
libpam-systemd=229-4ubuntu4

Looks like it's not a coreutils nor a who issue, it's a systemd issue,
perhaps related to backport, since I'm not seeing it on bionic.

Of course next upgrade will break it again, until the packages are
fixed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1798562] Re: After a side by side installation, resized filesystem is corrupted

2019-01-25 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Jean-Baptiste, or anyone else affected,

Accepted e2fsprogs into cosmic-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/e2fsprogs/1.44.4-2ubuntu0.2 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-cosmic to verification-done-cosmic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-cosmic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  - Users resizing filesystems using resize2fs.
  - Resizing an existing Linux filesystem from the Ubuntu installer.

  [Test cases]

  Test Case 1:
  With e2fsprogs 1.44.4-2:

  Download this file system image:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/e2fsprogs/+bug/1798562/+attachment/5203159/+files/vda1b.qcow2.bz

  Run the following commands:

  bunzip2 vda1b.qcow2.bz
  qemu-img convert vda1b.qcow2 vda1b.raw
  e2fsck -f vda1b.raw
  resize2fs vda1b.raw 6200M
  e2fsck -f vda1b.raw

  e2fsck 1.44.4 (18-Aug-2018)
Pass 1: Checking inodes, blocks, and sizes
Inode 45746 extent block passes checks, but checksum does not match extent
(logical block 1272, physical block 466167, len 776)
  Fix?

Test Case 2 (Use case of the installer):
  1. Perform a first installation of Ubuntu
  2. Reboot into the freshly installed system and verify everything works as
expected
  3. Do a second installation and select "Install alonogside". Keep the size
proposed by the installer and proceed to the end of installation
  4. Reboot
  5. On boot, in the list of installed systems, select the first system
installed on the machine
  6. Verify that it boots, you can login and it works as expected

  Actual Result
The FS is corrupted and depending on the corruption it goes to initramfs,
boots but cannot login, ...

  [Regression potential]
This changes behavior in the update logic for extent blocks; as such, care
should be taken to make sure that testing takes into account the possibility to
introduce filesystem corruption while resizing. This is why the test cases
include running e2fsck as last step.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

Mounting manually a network share (NFS) and masking it breaks the state of
other units (and their dependencies).
Casper is masking a mounted NFS share, blocking the normal boot process as
described in the original description, but the issue comes from systemd.

  [Test Case]

  - NFS mount point at /media
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# mount | grep media
  10.230.56.72:/tmp/mnt on /media type nfs4
(rw,relatime,vers=4.2,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,namlen=255,hard,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=2,sec=sys,clientaddr=192.168.122.127,local_lock=none,addr=10.230.56.72)

  - Test mount point (/test) defined in /etc/fstab:
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# cat /etc/fstab |grep test
  tmpfs /test tmpfs nosuid,nodev 0 0

  1. If media.mount is not masked, everything works fine:

  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# mount | grep test
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl status media.mount | grep Active
Active: active (mounted) since Thu 2018-11-15 16:03:59 UTC; 3 weeks 6 days
ago
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl status test.mount | grep Active
Active: inactive (dead) since Thu 2018-12-13 10:33:52 UTC; 4min 11s ago
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl start test.mount
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl status test.mount | grep Active
Active: active (mounted) since Thu 2018-12-13 10:38:13 UTC; 3s ago
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# mount | grep test
tmpfs on /test type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, relatime)
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl stop test.mount
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl status test.mount | grep Active
Active: inactive (dead) since Thu 2018-12-13 10:38:32 UTC; 3s ago
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# mount | grep test

  2. If media.mount is masked, other mounts are failing:

  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl mask media.mount
  Created symlink /etc/systemd/system/media.mount → /dev/null.
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl start test.mount
  Job for test.mount failed.
See "systemctl status test.mount" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl status test.mount | grep Active
Active: failed (Result: protocol) since Thu 2018-12-13 10:40:06 UTC; 10s
ago
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# mount | grep test
tmpfs on /test type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, relatime)
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl stop test.mount
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl status test.mount | grep Active
Active: failed (Result: protocol) since Thu 2018-12-13 10:40:06 UTC; 25s
ago
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# mount | grep test
tmpfs on /test type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, relatime)
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl start test.mount
  Job for test.mount failed.
See "systemctl status test.mount" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# mount | grep test
tmpfs on /test type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, relatime)
tmpfs on /test type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, relatime)
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# systemctl stop test.mount
  root@iscsi-bionic:/home/ubuntu# mount | grep test
tmpfs on /test type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, relatime)
tmpfs on /test type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, relatime)

  [Regression potential]

Minimal. Originally, one failing mount point blocked the processing of
the rest due to how the return codes were handled for every line in
/proc/self/mountinfo. This patch removes this "dependency" and keeps
the failure local to the affected mount point, allowing the rest to be
  processed normally.

  [Impact]

Users cannot create IPv6 routes that specify PreferredSource. This
means that users cannot specify a number of valid IPv6 routes that are
useful in some circumstances. These routes can be created with the
'ip' tool, just not with systemd.

This was reported upstream in systemd issue #5882 is fixed by pulling
in the changes in systemd PR #11375 -
  https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/11375

  [Test Case]

Start a Bionic or Cosmic VM.

Add the following netplan yaml (adjust for ethernet card and MAC):

  network:
  version: 2
  ethernets:
  ens3:
  dhcp4: true
  match:
  macaddress: 52:54:00:e2:c2:d7
  set-name: ens3
  addresses: ["fd8f:1d7d:b141::2/64", "fd8f:1d7d:b141::200/64"]
  routes:
- to: "a::/16"
  via: "fd8f:1d7d:b141::1"
  from: "fd8f:1d7d:b141::2"
- to: "fd8f:1d7d:b141::/64"
  scope: link
  from: "fd8f:1d7d:b141::2"
  metric: 255

Run netplan apply or reboot. Wait ~10s.

Currently, ip -6 route will not include a route to "a::/16", and will
not include the route to "fd8f:1d7d:b141::/64" that has
"fd8f:1d7d:b141::2" as the source address - both those addresses will
  be missing.

Correct behaviour is for ip -6 route to report the following:

  ubuntu@b-np:~$ ip -6 route
  a::/16 via fd8f:1d7d:b141::1 dev ens3 proto static src fd8f:1d7d:b141::2
metric 1024 pref medium
  fd8f:1d7d:b141::/64 dev ens3 proto static src fd8f:1d7d:b141::2 metric 255
pref medium
fd8f:1d7d:b141::/64 dev ens3 proto kernel metric 256 pref medium
fe80::/64 dev ens3 proto kernel metric 256 pref medium

  [Regression Potential]

This changes the state machine in systemd which configures the links.
It passes systemd's internal tests, and has been approved by systemd
maintainers, but it remains possible that the changes will break the
  configuration of obscure network setups.

The backport requires pulling in two further commits that also change
behaviour: currently systemd deletes all addresses and routes that
were attached to an interface. With this change, it will only delete
those that are not specified in the configuration files. I do not know
how this could cause issues - it moves from a surprising behaviour to
a less surprising behaviour, but it's worth pointing out.

Bug description:
  === SRU Justification ===
  [Impact]
Some Asus laptops report "discharging" when the battery is full and AC
  is plugged

  [Test]
Charge battery to full, the issue appears.
Users report with the patch the behaviour is correct.

  [Fix]
The discharge rate is 0 on those machines. Use that to detect the wrong
  status report.

  [Regression Potential]
Low. The quirk uses strict DMI to match affected systems.

  === Original Bug Report ===
The AC adapter status is incorrectly reported when the battery is fully
charged. It always shows as if the adapter is not plugged in. If the battery is
drained for a while, the adapter status is shown correctly (both connects and
disconnects are shown).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1813353] [NEW] ctrl+g fails after ctrl+r and arrow up/down

Public bug reported:

The usual way to find previous commands is ctrl+r and then use the arrow
up/down keys. You can exit the search with ctrl+g. One day this stopped
working (after an update of the package?). It still works when I don't
touch the arrow keys, but when you do, the only way I know to get out is
back-deleting the retrieved command.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1563110]

2019-01-25 Thread russianneuromancer
> Or do we have to compile it ourselves from this branch?

There is prebuilt packages, if you need them:
https://github.com/heikomat/linux/releases

By the way, is UCM from Comment 68 is recent, or there is newer version
somewhere?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1776173] Re: qt print dialog shipped with bionic ignores printer defaults

too... Would be very much appreciated!

Title:
qt print dialog shipped with bionic ignores printer defaults

Status in qtbase-opensource-src package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
All kde applications shipped with ubuntu and particularly kubuntu
bionic print via the qt print dialog, that, unfortunately, does not
seem to respect the defaults set for the printer.

Specifically, every time one starts to print the "duplex" option gets
reset to "none" even for those printers that were configured for "long
  edge" duplex by default.

This may lead to a huge *waste of paper*: people print, expecting the
duplex, do not get it, throw away the printout and reprint, for a
total of 3 times the paper usage if the print dialog respected the
  default.

  See also https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395150

As a final comment and in general, I think that Bionic should be
updated to use the QT 5.11 print subsystem (from 5.9.5) as soon as
possible (at least via a kubuntu ppa). The QT 5 print dialog has
always been extremely poor, with no possibility to provide information
about things like print quality and resolution, paper type, stapling
(for printers supporting it), etc. Now, QT 5.11 has finally a better
print dialog and it would be great if the bionic users could use it.

This bug was fixed in the package zeitgeist - 1.0.1-1ubuntu1

zeitgeist (1.0.1-1ubuntu1) disco; urgency=medium

  * Resynchronize with Debian. Remaining changes:
- Add add_datahub_autostart_delay.patch: Don't start for a little while
- Add nodisplay_autostart.patch: Don't show in Startup Applications
- Add pre_populator.patch: Pre-populate the log with some events
so that the Unity dash isn't empty on first run.
  * Removed change, that's not useful nowadays
- Add disable-fts-on-touch.patch: Drop redundant FTS/xapian indexer

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * Newly added testcase in a security upload used a traditional GNU
patch format, instead of using extended git patch format, as supported
by GNU patch. Therefore, executable bits on shells scripts were lost,
  resulting in autopkgtest failures.

  [Test Case]

   * `upstream` test/TEST-22-TMPFILES autopkgtest case should pass.

  [Regression Potential]

   * This is testcode change only.

raising all windows of those apps.

  - Allow user switching when using LightDM.
+ ubuntu/lock_on_suspend.patch
  - Respect Ubuntu's lock-on-suspend setting.
+ ubuntu/gdm.patch
  - as gdm is system-wide and not session-wide, ensure gdm has an ubuntu

This bug is marked as duplicate of bug #1798562. This is only partly
correct.

The "warning" about "extent tree (at level 1) could be narrower.
Fix?" is not solved.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1813314] [NEW] [2537G98, Conexant CX20585, Speaker, Internal] Background noise or low volume. Low volume quality than on windows 10.

2019-01-25 Thread cafero
Public bug reported:

When I increase the volume indicator to 1.0 (probably in the gnome
desktop it is 100%) the sound is lower quality than in windows 10.
Please. Repair it. Lenovo thinkpad t410, conexant cx 20585 soundcard,
processor intel core i5 520M, (2.40GHZ, 2 cores 4 threats.) Ram 4GB. If
it does matter, I use orca screenreader.

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ - Users resizing filesystems using resize2fs.
+ - Resizing an existing Linux filesystem from the Ubuntu installer.
+
+ [Test cases]
+
  Test Case 1:
  With e2fsprogs 1.44.4-2:

  Download this file system image:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/e2fsprogs/+bug/1798562/+attachment/5203159/+files/vda1b.qcow2.bz

  Run the following commands:

  bunzip2 vda1b.qcow2.bz
  qemu-img convert vda1b.qcow2 vda1b.raw
  e2fsck -f vda1b.raw
  resize2fs vda1b.raw 6200M
  e2fsck -f vda1b.raw

  e2fsck 1.44.4 (18-Aug-2018)
Pass 1: Checking inodes, blocks, and sizes
Inode 45746 extent block passes checks, but checksum does not match extent
- (logical block 1272, physical block 466167, len 776)
+ (logical block 1272, physical block 466167, len 776)
  Fix?
-

+
+
+ [Regression potential]
+ This changes behavior in the update logic for extent blocks; as such, care
should be taken to make sure that testing takes into account the possibility to
introduce filesystem corruption while resizing. This is why the test cases
include running e2fsck as last step.

Title:
  Missing 53-monospace-lcd-filter.conf from /etc/fonts/conf.d

Status in fontconfig package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I've just installed Ubuntu-trusty, and noticed that in Thunderbird the
fonts are rendered incorrectly. It seemed that the problem is with
  sub-pixel rendering.

After much googling and finding nothing I've started to compare the
/etc/fonts/conf.d dir on my Precise machin with the trusty one. I noticed that
on trusty the 53-monospace-lcd-filter.conf file is missing from the conf.d dir,
but is available in the conf.avail.
After I created the symlink and rebooted, my thunderbird font rendering
became normal again.

But now if I start from something from the terminal it says:
  "Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/53-monospace-lcd-filter.conf", line
10: Having multiple values in isn't supported and may not work as
expected"

So the 1st question, why did you leave out the monospace-lcd-
filter.conf from the fontconfig conf.d, and the second is why didn't
you update it so it won't complaing about the multiple test tags.

Improve application management for file opening

I'd be nice to have the following possibilities when dealing the the
list of applications which can open a file:

* Remove entries for the list of applications (I know that can be done
somehow by editing files in `~/.local/share/applications`)
* Add entries with custom commands, e.g. allow opening of .jnlp files with
`javaws` (this usecase is currently not covered)

available applications in order to improve the overview

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1408624] [NEW] Improve application management for file opening

2019-01-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I'd be nice to have the following possibilities when dealing the the
list of applications which can open a file:

  * Remove entries for the list of applications (I know that can be done
somehow by editing files in `~/.local/share/applications`)
  * Add entries with custom commands, e.g. allow opening of .jnlp files with
`javaws` (this usecase is currently not covered)
  * Add a quick search text field in order to filter entries in the list of
available applications in order to improve the overview

Title:
  logger(1) continuously outputs same timestamp

Status in util-linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
As per the issue created on syslog-ng's GitHub repository:
  https://github.com/balabit/syslog-ng/issues/1098

When content is piped to `logger`, every message gets the timestamp of
when the logger process started. This is a regression between 14.04
and 16.04. Previously, logger would report an individual timestamp per
  message.

A workaround is to let syslog create the timestamp rather than logger.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Since this appears to be a kernel issue I'm marking the
openssh task as Invalid for now. If there's any reason to think it's a
problem in userspace, please change its status back to New.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1670959] Re: systemd-resolved using 100% CPU

2019-01-25 Thread Robie Basak
>From the above comments I think it's clear that the problem is caused by
some kind of misconfiguration resulting in a loop. It isn't clear if
that misconfiguration is coming from a user error or from some bug in an
upgrade path somewhere. If the latter, then it's a valid bug. However,
since we don't have steps to reproduce the problem, I'm marking this bug
as Incomplete in dnsmasq, to make it clear that developers aren't
expected to be able to make any progress on this problem until someone
can provide steps to reproduce.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1812247] Re: ssh-agent fails for ssh-add -c: agent refused operation

2019-01-25 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Hi,
I tried the same on Bionic/Cosmic/Disco (a VM each running the same commands)
1. created an ssh key (ssh-keygen)
2. added it to authorized key (cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub >> ~/.ssh/authorized_keys)
3. added it with ssh-add (ssh-add)
4. verified it was added (ssh-add -l)
5. logged to local IP via ssh using the key (ssh ubuntu@127.0.0.1 uname -a)
   (working)
6. removed the key (ssh-add -d)
7. added the key in confirm mode (ssh-add -c)
8. logged to local IP via ssh using the key (ssh ubuntu@127.0.0.1 uname -a)
   Got the confirmation prompt

I only got the "sign_and_send_pubkey: signing failed: agent refused operation"
if in the prompt that asked me if I should use the key I hit "cancel".
That seems reasonable thou.

Is the following sequence failing for you?
If so would you report the full output for that sequence of commands that you
get?
Note: I used a clean VM with ssh -XY to allow the popup to come through to my
host.
sudo apt-get install ssh-askpass-gnome
eval `ssh-agent -s`
ssh-keygen
cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub >> ~/.ssh/authorized_keys
ssh-add
ssh-add -l
ssh ubuntu@127.0.0.1 uname -a
ssh-add -d
ssh-add -c
ssh-add -l
ssh ubuntu@127.0.0.1 uname -a
  # pupup should appear

Title:
ssh-agent fails for ssh-add -c: agent refused operation

Status in openssh package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Ubuntu uses ssh-agent from OpenSSH which supports adding keys by means
of `ssh-add -c` indicating that keys "should be subject to
confirmation before being used for authentication. In Ubuntu 18.10
  this fails with the error

sign_and_send_pubkey: signing failed: agent refused operation

To reproduce I used a Ubuntu 18.10 Live "CD", apt-get update && apt-
get upgrade, log out and log back in (these steps are not required but
we want to use an up-to-date system). Then:

  $ sudo apt-get install ssh-askpass-gnome
  (...)
$ # verify that ssh-askpass shows a popup, confirm with Enter
  $ ssh-askpass ; echo $?

  0
  $ ssh-keygen
  (...)
  $ ssh-add -D
  All identities removed.
  $ ssh-copy-id $sshuser@$sshserver
  (...)
  Number of key(s) added: 1
  (...)
  $ ssh $sshuser@$sshserver uname -a
  Linux server 4.9.0-8-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.130-2 (2018-10-27) x86_64
GNU/Linux
  $ ssh-add -d
  Identity removed: /home/ubuntu/.ssh/id_rsa (ubuntu@ubuntu)
  $ ssh-add -c
Enter passphrase for /home/ubuntu/.ssh/id_rsa (will confirm each use):
  Identity added: /home/ubuntu/.ssh/id_rsa (/home/ubuntu/.ssh/id_rsa)
The user must confirm each use of the key
  $ ssh $sshuser@$sshserver uname -a
sign_and_send_pubkey: signing failed: agent refused operation
  sshuser@server's password: [^C'ed]

  $ ssh-add -l
  2048 SHA256:yvAFsTpkNWnlrQyCp+tWV83dIF8Je3AksM0o+Ajvyyc
/home/ubuntu/.ssh/id_rsa (RSA)

So, our key is loaded, ssh-askpass is working (also confirmed with
  `ssh-add -c
   LANG=C.UTF-8
   SHELL=/bin/bash
  SourcePackage: gnome-session
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)

Bug description:
  [Impact]
The packaged Qt documentation, which can be viewed in browser (qt*-doc-html
packages) or in Qt Assistant (qt*-doc packages) is missing all documentation
generated from C++ files. Only the static text is present.

Qt is split by many modules (qtbase, qtdeclarative, qtwebengine,
  etc.).

To properly fix this bug, we need changes in qtbase and qttools
modules. In addition, I will be uploading a no-change rebuild of
qtdeclarative module to demonstrate that the fixes work.

If requested, I can also upload no-change rebuilds of some other
modules to get their -doc packages properly regenerated.

  [Test Case]
  For qtbase5-doc-html:
  1. Install qtbase5-doc-html package.
  2. Make sure /usr/share/qt5/doc/qtcore/qobject.html is present.

  For qtdeclarative5-doc-html:
  1. Install qtdeclarative5-doc-html package.
  2. Make sure /usr/share/qt5/doc/qtquick/qquickwidget.html is present.

  [Regression Potential]
The proposed change in qtbase is affecting only builds of Qt modules
documentation. So the worst thing it can do is breaking the build of -doc
packages in other Qt modules. However, as confirmed by qtdeclarative example,
it makes things only better, not worse.

The proposed change in qttools can affect more packages. It can result
in qdoc passing more -isystem flags to clang code analyzer. I am not
aware of negative consequences of this, but if they happen, these
consequences will be limited to potential build failures or wrong
  documentation contents.

  [Other Info]
  Description of the fix:

qdoc is a tool that parses C++ source files and generates
documentation from them. Recently, qdoc began using clang instead of
its own C++ parser. Clang needs the C++ standard library to work.
Starting with llvm-toolchain 1:7~+rc1-1~exp2, the GCC C++ standard
library is no longer on clang’s default search paths, so we need to
pass it explicitly as -I flag. The proposed qtbase patch
  (qdoc_default_incdirs.diff) does that.

That patch fixes documentation build for qtbase, but for other modules
there is another problem. The Qt headers are installed into
/usr/include//qt5 directory, but it is also not on Clang
default search path. qmake passes these directories as -isystem flags,
but qdoc ignores -isystem by default, unless it is built with
QDOC_PASS_ISYSTEM defined. So the proposed change in qttools is
  building with this define.

  [Original Description]
The Qt offline documentation for cosmic is incomplete. In fact there's
virtually no content what so ever. It would be easier I think to list what
actually got picked up that what was missed.

There are some new Intel GPU pci-id's that need to be added to several places:

  0x3E98
  0x87C0

and to make future additions easier, add platform definitions for
Whiskey Lake and Amber Lake too.

  [Test case]
Check that the user session uses the proper driver on these systems.

  [Regression potential]
none, these just add pci-id's and platform definitions
