Bug description:
HOW TO REPRODUCE:
1. Boot a laptop.
2. Set a different screen (or keyboard) backlight brightness level.
3. Reboot.
RESULT:
Backlight is not memorized.
FIX:
A. For Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and 14.04 LTS install my package from PPA
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nrbrtx/sysvinit-backlight
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install sysvinit-backlight
NOTES:
1. If you have installed previous non-deb version, please remove it
carefully manually
sudo rm /etc/rc?.d/?25backlight /etc/init.d/brightness
/etc/rc?.d/?25brightness
2. If you have installed previous version from my PPA on Ubuntu 14.04
LTS, please reinstall the package by:
sudo apt-get purge sysvinit-backlight
sudo apt-get install sysvinit-backlight
3. Version 0.1ubuntu1 supports save/restore of keyboard backlight too.
B. Ubuntu 14.10 is at EOL (from July 2015), Ubuntu 15.04 is at EOL (from
January 2016), Ubuntu 15.10 is near EOL (really at July 2016), so users should
upgrade them to Ubuntu 16.04 (see C below).
My script is incompatible with these Ubuntu versions - remove it with
sudo apt-get purge sysvinit-backlight
sudo add-apt-repository -r ppa:nrbrtx/sysvinit-backlight
C. Ubuntu 15.04, 15.10 and 16.04 LTS have systemd-backlight@.service. It
saves and restores screen and keyboard backlight levels.
My script is incompatible with these Ubuntu versions.

Bug description:
[Impact]
In Lenovo P520, which using a codec for front panel, the other codec for rear
panel and both are on a same card.
In this case, the rear Mic will present on input devices of "Sound
Settings" even if attaching nothing to rear mic jack.
[Fix]
For alsa-ucm-conf part, the Mic 2 should use "Rear Mic Jack" as JackControl
because of

After applying "Rear Mic Jack", the rear Mic will not always there anymore
but it's not there as well if hot-plugging audio device on rear mic. Thus, it
needs to change pulseaudio to handle if all devices are off cases.
For pulseaudio, if there is no any audio devices attached, then
attaching an input device on rear mic jack. The port will not be
selected automatically because the profiles is off. It needs patch
pulseaudio to check off profiles (for dual codec case).
[Test]
After applying these patches, the rear mic jack works good in all cases (boot
without mic and then attach mic, boot with mic and then hotplug it) and other
functions (line-in / line-out) work pretty well.
[Where problems could occur]
This change only apply the bonus on below cases:

```
and these cases have been tested.
If there are some complex codec design then it might cause problem but so far

This isn't a bug. Ubuntu has setup GCC with "pie" flag enabled for some
unknown reason, and this causes executable output to be tagged as shared
library.
Use "-no-pie" with GCC when compiling.
If using Qt Creator / QMake add this to your project file
unix:QMAKE_LFLAGS += -no-pie
All will work fine after that, and your system will see your local GCC
compiled executables tagged as "executable", and Nautilus or any other
file browser will be able to run it via click as usual.

Programs compiled using `gcc -o program program.c` should be runnable
by double-clicking them from a GUI file manager.
Compiling a simple program (`void main() { }`) using Xubuntu 16.04's
current version of `gcc` (`gcc version 5.4.0 20160609 (Ubuntu
5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.2)`) produces the following output from
`/usr/bin/file program`:
program: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV),
dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2, for
GNU/Linux 2.6.32, BuildID[sha1]=signature_here, not stripped
This is correct behavior, allowing the executables to run from
Nautilus and Thunar.
What happened instead
=
Programs compiled using `gcc -o program program.c` are not runnable by
double-clicking them from a GUI file manager, even though they are
runnable from the terminal.
Compiling a simple program (`void main() { }`) using the current
version of `gcc` (`6.2.0 20161005 (Ubuntu 6.2.0-5ubuntu12)`) produces
the following output from `/usr/bin/file program`:
program: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV),
dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2, for
GNU/Linux 2.6.32, BuildID[sha1]=signature_here, not stripped
The program is also identified as a "shared library" instead of an
"executable" in Thunar, causing it to not be runnable from the GUI.
Others are unable to run such programs from Nautilus.

This should show no sign of timedated crashing. [Where problems could occur] * It's possible that the redirection handling code will be sub-par and causes crash. However, it's not likely because the similar pieces of code is in the previous patch since Ubuntu 16.04. * If it does: the patched `get_timezone()` function is used in 2 places: the networkd's DHCP server [3] and the timedated itself. - Networkd is used primarily on servers where NetworkManage is absent. It's possible that this patch causes the user to loss access to the server due to networkd crash when setting up network interfaces, and requires physical access to fix. However, the code path is executed when DHCP is enabled only. I think it's not common for users to have networkd's DHCP server enabled: the feature seems to gear towards desktop users wanting to share internet connection, and in those cases they're more likely to use NetworkManager. - The timedated itself is likely used by the programs that involves in time-related functions. If a crash occur, in the worst case users won't be able to set time or timezone via timedated. However, users should still be able to e.g. set time using `date` or set timezone using /etc/localtime (assuming online guides still consider systems without systemd). Timedated is DBus-activated, and thus a crash should be self-healing. * The set part would also affects the clasic systems. However, I believe nothing else actually rely on /etc/localtime being a relative path, otherwise the /etc/writable redirection would causes even more problem, and would have been reported. [3] Yes, I'm surprised that there's a DHCP server inside systemd codebase. [Other Info] * This is also useful for UBports's Ubuntu Touch. We continue using system-image system where the rootfs is read-only, and thus is affected by this bug similarly to Ubuntu Core.
