[Touch-packages] [Bug 1902899] Re: Color management is not quite good

2020-11-04 Thread Flávio Vivório Salles
I uninstalled Oibaf graphics right now in order to perform extra
debugging if not too technical. And because I didn't notice any
improvements after installing Oibaf.

Bug description:
While attempting to work with software like Figma, Inskcape and Gimp I
noticed that the screen I have doesn't show colors like in my iMac or
in WIndows. When I plug the same display on my laptop running Ubuntu
20.04 the colors just looks very opaque and desaturated. I looked on
the web for a tool to fix this but it just doesn't exist. I think this
could be a bug or a a problem with drivers. But theres no proprietary
drivers for this machine. The open source Intel drivers are just
terrible. I suggest Ubuntu developers include potentiometers to manage
color saturation, contrast, brightness and temperature under the
"Color" tab on Ubuntu settings pannel. When I go to the color section
of the settings pannel it only allows me to chose a color profile but
I can't even adjust color settings. I really wish Linux systems be
more usable when it comes to work with graphic software in the future.

Bug description:
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS have a low video quality, bad color management and
the screen keeps tearing. I guess maybe those are part of the same
problem. I thinks that there's maybe an issue with xorg on Intel
graphics card or probably an issue with the Mesa driver. I don't
really know. The screen keeps tearing even after I did this:

  sudo mkdir /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d
  sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf

  Section "Device"
 Identifier "Intel Graphics"
 Driver "intel"
 Option "TearFree""true"

Those are the informations I collected:

I have a new laptop HP-15-BS576TX which has this Intel Corporation
  Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio.

00:1f.3 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD
  Audio [8086:9d71] (rev 21)

The laptop sound works perfectly fine in Windows 10 with realtek
drivers. However, in Ubuntu 17.10, the volume is significantly low,
that I've to scroll the volume slider above 100% mark in pulseaudio to
the maximum to get acceptable level of sound. I suspect the sound
quality also is low (mono-like), may be not coming from all speakers
(perhaps subwoofer exist for this model). Also alsamixer shows the
  speaker volume at the maximum.

Details about the audio hardware are below:

I was trying to upgrade the system to see new updates on the Ubuntu
