[Touch-packages] [Bug 1456644] Re: [messaging] Resend issues

It would be nice if the phone is able to resent the message
automatically in case of a reestablished network connection.

We already provide an option to resend from the in message view if a message

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1456644] Re: [messaging] Resend issues

2015-09-08 Thread Johannes Kempf
The german translation for the text "Failed" = "Fehlgeschlagen" doesn't fit
into the provided space.
I'd also like to mention that the statement doesn't explain the user which
action he can expect when he press the button.
An additional text like "Retry" or "Resent" would be helpful.

  Partly hidden cursor/selection pointer

Status in messaging-app package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The blue pointer/arrow is partly hidden by the auto-completion area.
This happens when you try to select a text in the last line of a message.
Then it is very difficult to move the selection's start and end position.
Both orientations (portrait and landscape) are affected.

  Suggestions to solve the problem:
  A) Hide the auto-completion area when entering the selection-mode.
  B) Bring the cursor pointer on top. (Overlap with the auto-completion area).
  C) Always reserve space for the pointer.

Solution A and B will raise drawbacks in future when if this area might be
used for displaying alternatives for the selected text.
Solution C reduces the usable display area.

  1. In the clock menu, find the calendar app and launch it.
  2. In the Launcher or Dash, find the Calendar app.

  What you see:

  What you should see:
  1. The icon shows the current date.
  2. The icon shows the current date.

The equivalent for PC is bug 1362033, and for the Clock app is bug

This depends on bug 1453795 for Unity letting an app change its own

There is a problem (maybe design bug I don't know) with the auto word
  suggestion :

What happens : When you start typing a word, the keyboard suggest you
possibilities. If you pick one it complete the word, just the word.

What I expect : I expect the auto completion to add a space after the word :
You just picked a word, so you will of course start typing a new one. There are
two exception :
   - EIther you wan't to add a letter at the end of the word you selected
==> not very often but it can happen ;
   - Or you use a punctuation that doesn't need a space (point, comma...)
--> In this case, once you picked your punctuation caracter, the OSK should
know that there is no space between the word and this punctuation, and
automatically remove it. Then, add another one after the comma/point... (if
needed, it depends languages and punctuation)

How to reproduce : start typing a word, select a proposed one. No
space added (with just auto suggestion activated, not autocompletion)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1456697] Re: [Favorite contacts] First entered number dialed

2015-07-16 Thread Johannes Kempf
Like march already mentioned: A workaround would be if the users are able to
change the order of a the phone numbers of a contact (see bug #1469508).
Then, the user can at least influence which number is used as favorites. Up to
now it is always the first one. But which number is placed on top isn't
deterministic.

Another solution would be to open the address book's detail page if a
favorite has more than one number. Then the user can select which number
he likes to dial. But this increases the time and complexity for dialing
a favorite number.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1362962] Re: Calendar icon usually shows the wrong date

2015-06-17 Thread Johannes Kempf
As a workaround I would suggest to implement felixw83's proposal: Use a neutral
picture without a number for indicator and app-icon as long as an automatically
change of icon can't be implemented.
The "25" and "28" are very irritating and misleading.

  version custom: mako-0.5

When creating events with reminders at "Event time", the reminder is
stored in UTC, but triggered in local time. I first noticed this when
  creating events in BST (UTC+0100).

  STR:

   - Set device timezone to something other than GMT/UTC.
   - Open Calendar
   - From the actions mention, select New Event
   - Fill in some basics - time /date, event name, location, reminder at "Event
time"..
   - Save the event
   - Wait until the alotted time, and observe the absence of a reminder.

Setting my timezone to SAST (UTC+0200) and adding an event 5 minutes
into the future, no reminder fired. However, changing the date to 2h5m
into the future, the reminder fired 2h before the event. So it looks like
the reminder is being *stored* in UTC, but *fired* in local time.

I'm using Aquaris with 15.04 (r23).

Nevertheless the phone is vibrating regardless of the system-settings for
vibration in silent-mode.
-> The reminder should display the tooltip for at least 15 seconds or until the
user confirms the message. If no user interaction happens a notification should
be added to the list of the "notification" indicator.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1481900] [NEW] Partly hidden cursor/selection pointer

2015-08-05 Thread Johannes Kempf
Public bug reported:

The blue pointer/arrow is partly hidden by the auto-completion area.
This happens when you try to select a text in the last line of a message. Then
it is very difficult to move the selection's start and end position.
Both orientations (portrait and landscape) are affected.

Suggestions to solve the problem:
A) Hide the auto-completion area when entering the selection-mode.
B) Bring the cursor pointer on top. (Overlap with the auto-completion area).
C) Always reserve space for the pointer.

Solution A and B will raise drawbacks in future when if this area might be used
for displaying alternatives for the selected text.
Solution C reduces the usable display area.

This can be resolved by turning the alarm icon shown in the indicator
to blue similar to messages to indicate that an alarm or event was
  missed by the user.

  ——— UX Comment ———

I can think of two possibilities for the resolution of this bug:

  1) We change the alarm icon in the status bar for alarm-missed icon
  (https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/0BzbnWoHmYF3ablBITVByRnpzdEk

  2) Once the incoming call event has finished or the user has acted on
it by answering the call, we fire a notification bubble (as well as
it’s associated auditory feedback) to communicate the missed event. If
the user doesn’t act on the incoming call event, the alarm goes off
  after incoming call timeout.

--> My recommendation would be to use a combination of both.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1440111] Re: [calendar] Reminder notifications are not integrated into system notifications

2016-06-10 Thread Johannes Kempf
I like the functionality of the new notifications, but the usage of the
icons is wrong: see Bug #1591246.

Bug description:
The calendar app does not use the standard notification system. You
can't find it in the "Notifications" area of System Settings, and it
uses its own notification sound regardless of what is set in "Sound".

Also, reminders are not muted when the phone is in silent mode (I
  guess it's related).

I'm on bq Aquaris, r20 and with the latest calendar-app.

  UX Comment:

Calendar Notifications need to be overhauled:
-- Calendar Notifications are displayed for too brief a period and should
conform to the same timing as other notifications.

-- Calendar Notifications are not currently appearing in the
notification tray within indicators and should be.

-- Calendar Notification title is misleading ('Alarm') and should make
clear that the notification relates to a calendar event ('Event') and
  not a alarm-clock event.

-- Calendar Notification's should NOT override silent mode (unlike
clock-alarms) although the notification should still be displayed,
appear in the notification within indicators and cause the device to
vibrate (if enabled) - This is accepted/common behaviour for
notifications of this type on mobile.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1591258] [NEW] Wrong order of first and lastname

2016-06-10 Thread Johannes Kempf
Public bug reported:

If you swap first and lastname of a contact; the message view isn't
updated properly.

Steps to reproduce:
a) Create a contact with swapped naming, e.g. write "Firstname" in the field
for lastname and "Lastname" in the field of firstname.
b) Write a message to this contact.
c) Note that the messaging app displays "Lastname Firstname" as full name in
both views: List of messages and Chat details; see attached image 1) and 2)
d) Change the order in the contact in order to correct the naming, e.g. write
"Lastname" in the field of lastname and "Firstname" in the field of firstname.
e) Note that now the list of message displays the correct full name "Firstname
Lastname" 3) whereas the chat view still displays the wrong ordering "Lastname
Firstname".
