[Trac] usermanager does not work with svn- not possible to create external users with password

2010-03-09 Thread Ton Rademaker
I have UBUNTU 9.10 + TRAC 0.11.6 with apache 2.6 and modpython

I have 2 repositories, that are svn.

they look exactly the same,

but on 1 svn does not work, on the other it does

next to that I don't seem t be able to get the admin / user management plug ins
to work, especially on the password part.

I have both these plug ins, but they seem to conflict.

TracAccountManager 0.2.1dev-r7163

TracUserManagerPlugin 0.4

I used htpassword with which I added some users and passwords to dav_svn.passwd

but I don't seen to be able to use user manager to do so.

I would love to have it working, since it looks better, and I need to add some
external users

can anybody help, in newbie language, I am not really an expert in python,
apache or svn setup

Ton R

Re: [Trac] TracCasPlugin performs unwanted logout (or single sign out)

The above (varying levels of IT competence) is *exactly* why Single

I think the general reason for requiring Single Sign Out via a global
portal is that most "enterprise" system is horrible, broken insecure
crap -- and the contractors couldn't be bothered to care about
security of the sytems involved, or read enough of a spec to be able
to actually *provide* single sign out...

Lol :-)
Really, the fact is that I *do* share this view. Unfortunately, I can
only point out this - as I did when we started the SSO project - to the
people who take decisions.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Just one more thing...

I guess the reason why you'd want this is because you've given up on
single sign on, and use CAS simply as a way to synchronize login names
and passwords across several servers. I guess this is fine -- it's
just a bit different from what CAS really is intended to do.

No, actually what I've been requested to do is to implement just a
single Sign On to be a single entry point for all our webapps. The idea
is that SSout is "automatic" when someone disconnects from the corporate
network, whereas SSon can be performed by any of the webapps (different
users initiate their sessions in different ways).

No more rants for today :-)

If so -- why don't you just hide the log-out function from the trac gui?

As far as I can tell changing the logout-url in the cas-plugin (as Noah
suggested) would lead to a situation where the user might *think*
they're logged out -- but if a CAS session is still active, they're
still *actually* considered logged in by trac? I might be wrong about
how the plugin interacts with trac sessions, but that's how I interpret
the code.

IMNHO it's worse to let users *think* they're logged out when they're
not, than to simply hide the logout functionality (or change the logout
link to a link to the CAS server logout page).

I'm interested in 0.12 as well (I especially like the query enhancements),
but I need to find the time to set up a test environment. Not that I'm a
stranger to unfinished releases -- I ran a version of 0.11dev in production

As for 0.12, I can't say for sure but a beta this month sounds very likely.

Re: [Trac] Trac says it can't find mercurial repo - but it's there?

2010-03-09 Thread Scott Finnie

All, thanks for suggestions thus far.

Christian Boos wrote:

Does /Users/scoot/projects/w4t really contain a Mercurial repository?
Note that the .hg subfolder is what matters, the files themselves
don't need to be checked out.

What does `hg verify -R /Users/scoot/projects/w4` say? Take care to
use the exact same Mercurial version than the one which is reported in
the system info section of the About page.

$ hg verify -R /Users/scoot/projects/w4t
checking changesets
checking manifests
crosschecking files in changesets and manifests
checking files
13 files, 4 changesets, 15 total revisions

I added some extra logging to the plugin, and it seems to fail calling
into mercurial, not in the plugin:

MercurialConnector.get_repository()
--> MercurialRepository.__init__()
   --> mercurial.hg.repository()
   -->repo = _lookup(path).instance(ui, path, create)
//Fails here, on call to instance()

I'll carry on debugging, & check hg installation. Still very interested
in any help/suggestions.

Thanks,
Scoot.

[Trac] Trac 0.11.7 Released

2010-03-09 Thread Christian Boos

Trac 0.11.7 Released

We're happy to announce the Trac 0.11.7 release.

You will find this release at the usual place:
http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracDownload

... and as others have already announced just before this mail,
it is also possible to 'easy_install' this version ;-)

Trac 0.11.7 contains a number of security and bug fixes.
The following list contains only a few highlights:

 * Fixed a ticket validation issue that would allow unauthorized users
to modify the status and resolution of a ticket (#8884)

 * Trac wiki had some trouble handling very long unicode words (#9025)
 * Full text search was very slow if lots of custom fields were used
(#8935)
 * Fixed a race condition that could lead to the destruction of the
trac.ini file (#8623)

You can find a more detailed release note at:
http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/ChangeLog

Acknowledgements

Many thanks to the growing number of people who have, and continue to,
support the project. Also our thanks to all people providing feedback
and bug reports that helps us make Trac better, easier to use and more
effective.
Without your invaluable help, Trac would not evolve. Thank you all.

Finally, we offer hope that Trac will prove itself useful to like-
minded programmers around the world, and that this release will be
an improvement over the last version.

Please let us know.:-)
