I like to see a subdirectory /pootle/ on my website which I have already done using apache2 reverse proxy capabilities, but now I have other problems since pootle is pinting always to / and not /pootle/. So my suggestion is, to use only relative pathes. If I understand correctly, you want to have a look at the setting of baseurl in pootle.prefs The second thing I dislike is the design of pootle. I like to see the HARDCODED HTML droped and go for CSS. Since we are using CSS, I think you'll have to be more specific with exactly what you'd like to see. Feel free to get involved with the current interface work - lots of people are contributing to improve the interface. Currently I am hacking the sourcecode of the pootle server to make a PHP (on request) application from it, since my VServer/VHosts (@Hosting- Provider which use Gentoo) does not allow me to run pootle as standalone application. We hope to address this reasonably soon by migrating to a new web framework. The current Pootle can be run under mod_python. I haven't done it personally, though. The hardest thing was to parse the strings from the po files and now I have a question to it: WHY does pootle do not accept *.pot files since they are the TEMPLATES for the translation? I'm not sure what you mean with parse the strings from the po files. Where exactly are the templates not accepted? Another thing is, if I setup a project dummy and add the languages de and fr, WHY do I have to upload the template for each language seperately? I find this realy annoying, since normaly one would ONLY upload the POT file which then is copied into a PO file which then will be translated. I'm not sure what you are trying to do here. In the normal directory layout, you will have a directory for each language (de, fr, etc.) and templates where the pot file(s) will go. In the project administration page, you can update selected languages to the new templates as you want. [translate-pootle] Pootle 1.2 not starting
Hi, I am trying something similar to what Michelle is just doing, and I too ran into a few problems: I installed Pootle 1.2, translate-toolkit 1.2 and jtoolkit 0.7.8 into a user webspace. Unfortunately, this is a virtual account, so I have not found a way to export paths automagically (.bashrc) each time I log in. Another problem is that according to the docs, I need to start PootleServer by hand, which is not very convenient when the server gets rebooted. But my current main problem is: I got Pootle started once, modified pootle.prefs and then I got this error, which seems pretty unrelated, but does not go away: 2008-10-22 14:41:22: Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/jToolkit/web/simplewebserver.py, line 613, in getserver File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/jToolkit/web/__init__.py, line 160, in getserverwithprefs File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/jToolkit/prefs.py, line 428, in parsefile File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/jToolkit/prefs.py, line 419, in parse File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/jToolkit/prefs.py, line 356, in parseassignments File /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/jToolkit/sparse.py, line 225, in raiseerror ParserError: indent without preceding : at line 31, char 35 (token indent(1)) 2008-10-22 14:41:22: Error initializing server, exiting: indent without preceding : at line 31, char 35 (token indent(1)) Does anyone have an idea what is going on here and how to get this fixed? If your file is still similar to the one distributed with the software, my guess is you have a tab or some extra spaces before ' title = Pootle ' I hope that helps. Check the file syntax of pootle.prefs with specific attention to the indentation around line 31. If your file is still similar to the one distributed with the software, my guess is you have a tab or some extra spaces before ' title = Pootle ' I hope that helps. It did indeed, thanks! I was always wondering where that mysterious syntax problem should be, because it was not really obvious from the error message. Yes, I deleted leading spaces from a number of settings and now got another error, which probably not points to pootle.prefs: AttributeError: 'super' object has no attribute 'languages' 2008-10-22 17:18:08: Error initializing server, exiting: 'super' object has no attribute 'languages' And again I'm clueless... Regards, Olaf If you are able to provide some more debugging information, it will help a lot to pinpoint the issue. Please see this page for instructions: http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle/tracebacks My guess is that there is a problem in pootle.prefs with the languages section - just compare your indentation with the default file distributed with the software. There are no alternative prepackaged themes, but several sites have customised the look for their projects. Have a look at some of the public Pootle servers out there: http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle/live_servers (many also use the default styling, of course) Friedel -- Recently on my blog: http://translate.org.za/blogs/friedel/en/content/autocompletion-during-translation - This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100url=/ ___ Translate-pootle mailing list Translate-pootle@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/translate-pootle
Re: [translate-pootle] Better integration in existing Webdesign?
It can be done, but at the moment you would have to modify the kid templates. Good skin support would be great and we would be very glad for any contributions towards infrastructure to deal with this. One idea is to split the current templates so that we have layout templates (which can be used to create skins) and templates which hold all the rest of the info. I can't commit to such a project at the moment, but would gladly supply advice and help to anyone who's keen to attack it. I know what I want, and that I think the users will like, but I haven't the knowledge to do that alone (I haven't never installed Pootle, but I use it, and I dislike a lot its appearance). Anyone willing to do this?
