It is actually very trivial at this point to worry if this older layout doesn't pass the validator when the actual OS we are waiting for (Trisquel 6) keeps getting pushed back. Wait until that comes out first before bugging Ruben.

[Trisquel-users] Desktop Appearance 'Changes Throughout The Day' Option Not Working
Hello, I'm running Trisquel 6.0 32bit with Gnome and discovered a minor issue here: Trisquel Start Icon System Settings Appearance: The option to have the deskop appearance change throughout the day doesn't seem to work. I've tested it out for a while now and it never changes. I believe this issue was also in Trisquel 5.5 with Gnome too. Not a major problem I know, I just thought it should be made a aware of.

Neat, but looks complex to set up. Also, without subscribable lists like Adblock Plus has, it won't be anywhere near as effective and accurate. Finally, I'm not convinced that this is a full answer, mostly because I don't really understand it. I've personally now taken to using Adblock and NoScript and Ghostery all at once. Ghostery is non-free, I know, but I'm not convinced that I get the same results any other way, and they seem to be an honorable organization otherwise. NoScript blocks most things, but sometimes I whitelist a page for scripting I want, and then I find that Ghostery still blocks some of the scripts, and the result is a better functioning page but I still keep my privacy. I'm into FLOSS enough to be interested in Trisquel, but I still believe that there is room for discretion in any particular case to figure out what is the best thing to do.

It is actually really simple. Take for instance this page from ubuntu help: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Privoxy This will give you the default configuration. You can see a complete list of rules with explanation at /etc/privoxy/default.action (do not edit that file), and you add your rules to match-all.action in the same folder (edit this one). I was thinking this too. Quite a bit of work to go figure it out though. But more people need to start accepting it if its ever going to be worthwhile. I'd like to support it with ThinkPenguin... but thats a project for another week.

We will have something. I'd like to have a 5ghz USB adapter with external antennas and AR9271. Unfortunately it is only possible to do external antennas with 2.4ghz at the moment and the AR9271. Technically though this can all be done with AR9271.

Hi all, Sorry for the off-topic, but I have taken a job where I will likely be essentially required to get a smartphone. I have two concerns about this: 1) Don't know of any good libre OS options 2) Don't know of any good options that respect my privacy I suspect that if I could solve #1, then #2 would take care of itself. Do you have any suggestions? Surely I'm not the only one wrestling with this? Thanks!

There is Replicant which is free software and runs on some phones. I think that it still depends on some non-free components such as the wifi driver. I think it is the only libre phone OS at this time. [url]www.replicant.us[/url]

I think that it still depends on some non-free components such as the wifi driver. According to this[1] it sounds like it requires non-free firmware. I haven't found anything on drivers yet, but I believe that's where a lot of their work is. Apparently the Galaxy Nexus has a better design so no RAM is shared with the modem. And the GTA04 is a hacker's dream (the good type of hacker, that is). I have taken a job where I will likely be essentially required to get a smartphone. I'm required to have a mobile phone, so I just leave the battery out almost all of the time (for privacy reasons). I check for messages every few days while I'm at home. But maybe my solution isn't good for everyone. ;-)
