Respectfully, no one is in self destruct mode, we are just voicing our
opinions...

Maybe, you should voice your concerns and points of view about the down-vote
system. Instead of blowing up!

You have a point, maybe we should make a forum to collect votes, with the
focus only: To abolish or keep the down vote systems (- or + ) based only on:
YES OR NO...nothing else.

I've been studying those addons a lot and especially the combination of
various addons in order to provide the best security/privacy without slowing
down my already slow netbook..
I use - adblock edge, blender, click clean (set to delete everything on
browser exit), https everywhere, noscript and privacy badger, which is in
beta but it works very good (and how could it not being that it comes from
the greatest dudes on the web - eff.org) :)

[Trisquel-users] wxMaxima + LaTeX (Lisp) help, please

2014-11-27 Thread nuccigiorgio

Hello,

I am trying to make the following recipe to work again for the new version of
Maxima. Can somebody help me? I asked the same question on the Spanish forum.

https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/recipe-latex-gnuplot-tight-box-eps-maxima

Maxima encountered a Lisp error:

Error in AND [or a callee]: The variable CCOL is unbound.

Automatically continuing.
To enable the Lisp debugger set *debugger-hook* to nil.

I am amazed by how much time you spend in manipulating public opinion.

To be able to show people what are the lies and tricks in your message,
I have to take several hours to write the arguments and insert
references. Which is a lot for me, since I am not only running a more
ethical business, but most importantly I am running a national
foundation for free software and free culture. In the second is were
most of my time is spent and the business is only a way for me to
support my work, as stated in the press release.

But I promise this time I will make time to respond, not like the last
time when I dropped the argument which was becoming very time consuming.
Because otherwise you are are unstoppable and new comers definitely
believe you. Which is a shame and needs fixing.

I suggest that both of you state your arguments on your own website and not
here on this forum.

This is not the right place for a marketing war.

[Trisquel-users] gnome-control-center printer add printer is disable (greyed out) [SOLVED]

2014-11-27 Thread arielgnu
Today will trying to add a network printer I found out that when going to
gnome-control-center printer, the add printer button is disable.

I found out from the following page, that you'll have to install the
cups-pk-helper package to solve this.

http://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=4337.0

I think this problem has something to do with the following bug report:

http://trisquel.info/es/issues/12696

Hope it helps someone out there.

Re: [Trisquel-users] gnome-control-center printer add printer is disable (greyed out) [SOLVED]

2014-11-27 Thread arielgnu
I guess that what happens is that usually connecting the printer to the
computer would install the printer automatically so there is no need for a
add printer, unless you want to install a network printer, in that case you
will have to also do that is described in the bug report which is to install
the smbclient package too.

sudo apt-get install smbclient

[Trisquel-users] Wireless N USB Adapter (TPE-N150USB)

2014-11-27 Thread joel
My second Think Pinguin adapter Wireless N USB Adapter (TPE-N150USB) stopped
working with my Macbook Air 2011. It happened in a very similar fashion to my
last USB adapter; which was the same model.

I hadn't used the adapter because I was still working in OS X. But after a
year of gradually transitioning to Free software within Mac OS X, last week,
I finally made the full time leap to Trisquel 7!

Unfortunately, the wireless adapter became spotty a few days ago and finally,
yesterday, wouldn't connect at all. I then found that if I pressed on the
back side and lifted the adapter, it would temporarily connect—but it was
still very spotty.

Chris, Think Pinguin, had mentioned that only a handful of people have this
problem, and that it tends to be there system that is the culprit (1). This
could mean that Macbook Air 2011s aren't Think Pinguin friendly for the
smaller N USB adapter. Has anyone else experienced this problem with the
wireless adapter and a Macbook Air or Apple computer?

I have since ordered another Wireless N adapter in addition to a G model. I
don't want to give up on the smaller adapter yet, and I'd like to see how the
G model compares.

[Trisquel-users] Would it be appropriate wise to install smbclient and cups-pk-helper by default in Trisquel 7?

2014-11-27 Thread J.B. Nicholson-Owens

Thanks for the information!

To the Trisquel maintainers: Perhaps these packages ought to be a part
of the default install for Trisquel 7?

I bumped into this issue and it didn't strike me as proper when I tried
adding a network printer and found the GUI printer system control panel
effectively unavailable.

I have the same problem on a Late 2011 MacBook Pro, the issue however is the
USB port.

For all the build quality that Apple goes for, they don't get it right all
the time.

Maybe they break easy to push people to buy stuff online through Apple rather
than transfer it on? ;P
