Re: [Trisquel-users] Hardware Parts
jxself recommended that page because the question was vague, so providing an optimal answer was impossible.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Hardware Parts
As in one that has all three of those outputs, or at least one of them? If the former, I don't know an answer, but if the latter, Think Penguin sells one that's pretty good: http://libre.thinkpenguin.com
Re: [Trisquel-users] Unetbootin
i recommend the GNOME Disk Utility, using the "restore disk image" functionality as a safe(-ish) way to do the same thing as a dd command
Re: [Trisquel-users] Hardware Parts
because as soon as someone mentioned hardware someone immediately recommended a page that was extremely inadequate, by virtue of it being from the domain of the leader the ryf page is shit let's be honest
[Trisquel-users] Re : Unetbootin
Indeed. https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/how-create-liveusb gives graphical solutions too (other than UNetbootin).
Re: [Trisquel-users] Unetbootin
It could be that I was luckless, but in my experience unetbootin is terrible, and a huge source of time waste and back pain. Of the 5 or 6 times I used it, it failed half the time. Then I learned a simple terminal command and that one has never failed me: dd. Assuming the usb stick is indeed sdb (run lsblk to find out) dd if=YOURADORBLEGNU.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=4M; sync
[Trisquel-users] Re : Unetbootin
The "creator" and maintainer of UNetbootin administrates the PPA, which only proposes this package. It is always possible that UNetbootin becomes proprietary, that the PPA will propose additional proprietary packages in dependency of UNetbootin, etc. I would say it is is highly unlikely though.
[Trisquel-users] Re : vnc via ssh over internet
GNUbahn have a look at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Category:Remote_desktop & Thanks for your contribution to the Trisquel wiki
Re: [Trisquel-users] WIKI: Remote desktop connection
I know, pizzaman :)
Re: [Trisquel-users] vnc via ssh over internet
I know Jitsi provides the feature but when I tried it with a mate it did not work for me, maybe you'll have more luck. I hear remmina is good. Never tried it though.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Hardware Parts
> also this place feels like the cult of fsf How come you say so, m8?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Forum request: signatures
Sure, Bannanna Magique ^^ ..but I am talking about a single page that gathers all the most common stuff/issues/qstns and is then linked to the new user once he asks a common new user question. I think I'll translate the aforementioned Spanish page in Eng, it won't hurt.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 7 consistently fails to add network printer?
Hmm, it's not on h-node. Can you add it to h-node (either if it works or not) once you find out if it works or not without blobbies?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Unetbootin
Ah, fork! https://trisquel.info/en/forum/unetbootin-fork I don't remember if Mr. Lukeywood included his extremely understandable and not the slightest bit condescending instructions on how to install from source code on the thread or if that was a personal email, but it's not that hard.
Re: [Trisquel-users] WIKI: Remote desktop connection
Yet a rather severe mistake! Thanks for pointing it out - and for the forgiveness. As Magic Banana suggests, there should actually be three manuals; one for NAT, one for SSH and one for VNC. I'm not sure when I'll find a parenthesis in work and family life again, but I'll follow up on this. And again, please help by posting comments: I'm learning here, and your comments could speed up the work significantly.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Unetbootin
And then comes the question: Can I trust that PPA as I trust Trisquels?
Re: [Trisquel-users] vnc via ssh over internet
My wife use teamviewer for work. It's quite easy to set-up and the speed seems pretty ok. Isn't there some sort of solution like that?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Forum request: signatures
the forum software could have more functionality regardless of whether it uses javascript
Re: [Trisquel-users] Hardware Parts
this is bad advice. ryf, as it stands, is not computer parts, but whole systems. better advice is to visit https://h-node.org/ for actual information about computer parts. also this place feels like the cult of fsf
Re: [Trisquel-users] Hardware Parts
This page is pretty useful, i was also just wondering if there were other sources that were just as good (out of curiosity) https://h-node.org/videocards/catalogue/en
[Trisquel-users] Re : Unetbootin
UNetbootin is free software. However it proposes the installation of nonfree GNU/Linux distributions: https://www.gnu.org/distros/common-distros.html Be aware of that. If you want to the latest version of UNetbootin, you can use this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~gezakovacs/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
Re: [Trisquel-users] Hardware Parts
I have my lovely laptop from ministryfreedom :) I'm specifically looking for a DVI/HDMI/VGA Graphics Card.
Re: [Trisquel-users] WYSIWYG html editor
WYSIWYG is the best text editor. Most of the companies are used it especially in customized Content Management System. Even i think Wordpress CMS is also using it. I don't know much about programming. Even i am running a blog but this is on Wordpress CMS by worksole.com guys. I have tried few times to learn at least HTML by using online sources but fail due to the time management. Appreciative efforts of trisquel guys are showing in this project. Anyways, thanks for it.
[Trisquel-users] Unetbootin
It appears that I can' install Unetbootin from the Trisquel repo (even it is in the 'shop'). I then found this thread: https://trisquel.info/en/forum/unetbootin-fork?page=1 Still - forgive my ignorance - I'm confused whether I can install a free version or not?
