[Trisquel-users] Running out of space in partition 1
My Partition 1 has 15GB, with 2.6GB still free, about 83% full. I have not installed any software other than what I am required to. Each time I do an update, I have a little bit less space left. I have had this computer for at least two years (perhaps four). Do I need to manually delete log files with sudo? Do I need to leave my computer on overnight? How do I fix this? Thank you.
[Trisquel-users] Free software before the free software movement
site...@openaliasbox.org wrote: Free software existed before Free Software Foundation and Richard Stallman. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_free_and_open-source_software I see text here describing that program source code was shared, people modified the source to port the program to their systems, and trusted only programs that came to them as source code (all valuable ends and right & proper thinking). I don't see a key aspect found in the Free Software movement -- political activism revolving around the idea that free software is the right way to treat other people and distributing nonfree software is ethically wrong. Just because people behaved in the ways they did, they didn't do so as part of a political movement stressing software freedom for its own sake (or, later, as the Open Source advocates did: set up a right-wing corporate reaction against software freedom, saying software freedom didn't matter and eschewed software freedom to favor business). Also the English Wikipedia article conflates the price and liberty meanings of the word "free", mentioning both and switching between the two as if no significant shift had occurred. These two meanings are kept distinct in the Free Software movement.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Need to Uninstall Trisquel
OK I'm gonna try Xfce4.
Re: [Trisquel-users] is this libreboot compatible?
All X60 Thinkpads are librebootable. Not all of them use the same ROM. Be sure to download the right ROM.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Need to Uninstall Trisquel
yes. I read many of them, but not all. Also I read some info at Tor, and why they don't recommend plug-ins, which makes sense. It might be a good idea to compare their prefs with yours. Considering how they set it up, I have to be sure if it's ok to add any changes to it. From what I read of yours, they look good, but I'll read them again soon. Then I'll be able to better decide what I wanna do. There's something I need advice on. In Icecat, anything with goo in it, I made blank. I hope I got them all, there were other nasty names like yahoo, I think I made those blank too. I wanna do that in Tor. Someone might say doing that would uniquely identify me, but I will never knowingly allow them to track me. What's the best solution? If I were a programmer, all those horrible companies would never be allowed.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Imageboards that play nice with libre JS
The captcha does not require JavaScript. There is a version that uses JavaScript and a version that does not use JavaScript. The latter loads as long as your browser behaves like one that doesn't support JavaScript. LibreJS doesn't do this; instead it tends to both prevent scripts from running and prevent scriptless fallbacks from working, which is why the result is often broken. I have not actually tried posting on 4chan, but I've seen that captcha system it uses elsewhere before (on those websites where Cloudflare has blocked access from a Tor node) and gotten past it just fine without enabling JavaScript.

look at the list and ask on the channels relevant to libreboot answer: probably

Yes. They are bad. Do not enable those.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Imageboards that play nice with libre JS
I don't know what exactly is an imageboard, but perhaps using a service provider that provides a GNU MediaGoblin service can be helpful. I'm not that active nowadays (I plan to be back), but I use GoblinRefuge's instance. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

Debian have non-free and contrib repos.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel boycott by Libreboot
As answered by many and also using the e-mail that tct just gave to the list: EOMA68 is a standard, not hardware itself. You are probably referring to the Libre Tea Computer Card, which follows the standard. I once contributed to redacting the publication on Parabola project's website about Libre Tea Computer Card and also had hard time with people confusing it with EOMA68. Please read the campaign text again and slowly. Also, taking tct's message as reference, you asked about software pre-installed [probably] in the Libre Tea Computer Card (assumed since you got the name wrong): If that's the case, only the Respects Your Freedom certification can answer the question. Also tct replied in regards to hardware designs, not software. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
Re: [Trisquel-users] Libreboot Developer Leah Rowe Attack gnu and rms Again
Indeed, you are right when affirming that free/libre software existed long before RMS, GNU and FSF... However, these key people/projects/organizations were the first ones to actually document the philosophy (before that, there were free/libre software, but they didn't exactly prove persistence/"stubbornness" towards the goal that we free/libre software activists seek nowadays, back then, it was a situation like the one we have with most projects that are "open source"-only, where while they might be free/libre, they might not have strong driving force to keep them that way). Also, the documentation provided in the GNU project's website does support your point, see the history of the GNU project. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
Re: [Trisquel-users] Imageboards that play nice with libre JS
does buying a pass turn that off?
[Trisquel-users] Re : How to install GPT on BIOS & full disk encryption (with boot)?
No.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to install GPT on BIOS & full disk encryption (with boot)?
gNewSense?
[Trisquel-users] Re : How to install GPT on BIOS & full disk encryption (with boot)?
Hurd must be much smaller than Linux. And, I believe, so does BSD's kernel. You had better use Debian if you want to try such things.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to install GPT on BIOS & full disk encryption (with boot)?
Ok. I will try to install the OS. Answer 1: 20 GB for root is not enough for me. Answer 2: I want to try to install Hurd and (maybe) deblobbed *BSD. *: RAM == 2 GB
[Trisquel-users] Re : How to install GPT on BIOS & full disk encryption (with boot)?
100 GB for / looks far too much. You will probably end up using 10% of it (more if you install heavy video games). 1 GB for /boot is a lot too since a kernel requires about 50 MB and you do not need twenty different kernels (only the last one and another one that, for sure, drives well all your hardware). But, well, it only is 1 GB.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Disabling images in IceCat/Abrowser.
I disabled images in about:config.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Disabling images in IceCat/Abrowser.
This add on https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/web-developer/ gives you a tool bar with many functions, one of them is to disable images from a website and I think it stays like that when closing the browser for that specific web site. Once you installed go view>tool bars>web developer tool bar, then from the tool bar go Images>Disable images
[Trisquel-users] Disabling images in IceCat/Abrowser.
I want to disable images in IceCat/Abrowser. When I visit some websites (like MediaWiki) I can see some images.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Imageboards that play nice with libre JS
It uses the google recaptcha which won't show up with JS disabled. I think... It might be one of my other add ons.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Imageboards that play nice with libre JS
Don't use LibreJS. Just disable JavaScript. LibreJS more often than not breaks websites much more than disabling JavaScript ever could. I don't use 4chan, but as far as I can tell, it works just fine with JavaScript disabled.
[Trisquel-users] Imageboards that play nice with libre JS
Quit 4chan because of non-free Java script code (and INANENESS) Are there any image boards that run well with libre JS and is there a way to run 4chan with libre js.

HELP ME. THIS IS LAST QUESTION.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to install GPT on BIOS & full disk encryption (with boot)?
I need help. This is my last question before installation.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How to install GPT on BIOS & full disk encryption (with boot)?
Ok, my partition table is: 1. no fs biosgrub 1MB (do I need to set "Legacy BIOS bootable from gnome-disks?) 2. Encrypted LUKS LVM: 2.1. ext4 /boot 1GB 2.2. ext4 / 100GB 2.3. ext4 /home ~200 GB 2.4 swap 4 GB
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel boycott by Libreboot
The actual question I was asked and the actual answer I gave: Hi Ron, For hardware to be "libre", the printed circuit board (PCB) design should be under a free license. RMS shares my point regarding EOMA68. And anyway, if and when the PCB design files will be available under a free license, modification will require a nonfree CAD software, because the EOMA68 board has been designed using nonfree CAD software. Thanks for asking, Tiberiu On 21.10.2016 20:16, ron wrote: > On trisquel you say, eoma68 hardware is not libre. Explanation?
