I certainly do not recommend installing packages directly taken from Ubuntu's repository. But I think ivanruvalcaba is installing packages in Trisquel's repository. In the case of X stack's update, the packages in Trisquel 8's repository should be the same as those in Ubuntu 16.04's (the version numbers not including "trisquel").

I do not understand your point of view very well, IMHO everything is in ok. The best approach I am aware of is to use JACK. Since you've installed qjackctl I assume you know what that is. However, Cadence is a much easier tool than qjackctl to configure JACK. To configure JACK, follow the instructions I gave here: https://trisquel.info/en/forum/where-get-free-software-sound-packs-and-vsts-lmms#comment-133903 Once you've done that, use Catia to route the program you want to record into Ardour. Some programs are not JACK compatible. Firefox and derivatives like Abrowser require Pulseaudio. Pale Moon also contains this clause:

I fixed it! I had to do sudo apt install kwin-x11 and restart the laptop. Then I get close / maximise buttons, can switch with Alt+Tab, etc. This was based on this Q https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/261122/kde-5-does-not-have-window-decorations This seems like a bug in Triskel - surely this package should be installed by default, no? FYI - the other package suggested in the linked answer (kwin-decoration-oxygen) makes no difference as far as I can tell (I tried it separately).

Thank you for your quick reply. This is just a test install on a spare hard drive before I upgrade my main SSD from Trisquel 7 to Trisquel 8, so I will try to get KDE working, if not I'll try MATE and if that's good then I'll do a fresh MATE install from the ISO. Thanks for the tips

Thank you for your quick reply. Ok, tried that, didn't work. I ran: sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade sudo apt install But it was fully installed and up-to-date already. I also have triskel-recommended fully installed and up-to-date. Any more ideas on how I can fix this? Is this a bug in trisquel 8?

I just installed Trisquel 8.0 with KDE. I'm not sure if I like KDE. I would like to try MATE instead. How can I install MATE so I can try it instead? If I then decide to use MATE, I won't need KDE anymore. So how would I uninstall KDE? Thanks :)

I just installed Trisquel 8.0 with KDE. I can't switch windows or close windows. There are no close/enlarge buttons in the corner of the windows. Common keyboard shortcuts like Alt+Tab Alt+F4 don't do anything. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks

Palemoon is just as free as Firefox or Seamonkey - if you build these with different icons then the binary file can be free software (e.g. Iceape and IceCat/Abrowser are free), but if you use the compiled binaries provided they are not.
