I'm agree.

Trisquel is an important distro, I was surprise when I knew that Trisquel
only has one Hacker. This idea is opposed to the idea of a community and free
software.
I'm programmer, and I would like to contribute to Trisquel, but I'm feeling
bad, because I can not do anything. I need to study how can I help in the
project, but documentation is insufficient. I've never do the job to
maintener a package in a distro, but I would love to do it. It would be an
honor to be a hacker in Trisquel project, but I don't know how to start. In
this case, it would be good that Rubén open the project to the community.

Hi Mangy Dog.

I can install GLAMP server without tasksel, but I think that using tasksel
the users can install it in one step.

In Flidas (Trisquel 8), webservice option in tasksel does not appear.

web-service task, in fact, I don't know how works tasks in trisquel.

I understand that Trisquel gets the files from ubuntu source, but, in what
moment the packages has changed?.

I need a teacher :D, or anyone that create a video to explain how change a

[Trisquel-users] Help with modify a package

2017-04-04 Thread julian

Hi.

I would like to modify tasksel package in Trisquel 8, because I need to add
web server as in Trisquel 7.

I'm reading https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/package-helpers . I created a
folder named "src", and then I get the source with "apt-get source tasksel".
This one downloads the source, but I don't understand how that it works, and
I don't know that package-helperers how works.

Can anyone help me with an example or explain me how can I modify a package
for helping Trisquel project?

Thanks!

I said that the libre software is a ethical question, not a practical, so

Re: [Trisquel-users] Question on using AGPLv3 for JavaScript files on a web page

2014-03-30 Thread Julian
The way JavaScript works is:

- The web page points to a JavaScript program.
- Your browser transparently downloads that JavaScript program,
temporarily installing it into the browser.
- Your browser executes the JavaScript program where the web page
specifies it should.

JavaScript code gets executed on your computer, not on a remote
server.[0] So in effect, the GNU AGPL is exactly the same as the GNU GPL
for these programs.

Now, for your actual question: the various JavaScript files are
generally several different programs that just happen to be loaded by
the same web page. It's basically the same situation as having several
different programs installed in your OS: a bunch of unrelated programs
are perfectly able to coexist on the same computer, regardless of
license restrictions. For example, software under version 2 of the
Apache License can be on the same system as software under version 2 of
the GNU GPL (see Android, for example; the kernel Linux is under the
GPLv2, while much of Android's userland is under the Apache License
version 2). Similarly, if a web page uses one JavaScript program under
the AGPL, that doesn't mean that some other JavaScript program it loads
is also under the AGPL.

[0] There is such a thing as JavaScript code being server-side, but I
don't think it's very common.

[Trisquel-users] New User Needs Help Setting Up Wireless

Hello everyone.

I've installed Trisquel 4.5 on a laptop which previously had Windows 7
installed. The problem I have at the moment is I can't seem to get the
Wireless adaptor working. I have a Ralink rt2860 adaptor and I know the
website has the drivers with full source code available but I'm not sure how
I would go about installing them.

So following from your comment then [103c:1636] should be the device ID I
need to look for on the 'net. I'll keep you posted.

Re: [Trisquel-users] New User Needs Help Setting Up Wireless

I followed the instructions in this post:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1751348

and it still doesn't seem to work. I'm fairly certain the drivers compiled
and installed but when I did a reboot nothing happened. I installed
wifi-radar and when I ran the program it didn't pick up the Wireless device
automatically and I was unable to set it manually (the dropdown box was
greyed out).

I'll keep searching online.
