Re: [Trisquel-users] Donation
I was thinking this too. Quite a bit of work to go figure it out though. But more people need to start accepting it if its ever going to be worthwhile. I'd like to support it with ThinkPenguin... but thats a project for another week.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Donation
As far as processing transactions for donations has anyone looked into using ACH payments? I don't know a ton about them and I know that many companies use ACH to pay their vendors. I found a project that looks like it might be worth looking into. It's called OpenACH and can be found at openach.com Looks pretty flexible as a payment option. I'm not sure how flexible the software is or what kinks might come up.

I don't believe I can write off a donation to Trisquel in its current state and donating to an overseas account can bring up red flags. I quite have the same problem donating to american projects. Plus, Ruben doesn't dedicate enough time to this project nor does he interact with us enough to make me comfortable to hand over hundreds of dollars to a person in Spain that I have no easy means to make contact with. How do you know Rubén is not dedicating enough time to this project? I suppose he is dedicating as much time as he can. So, please let him quiet.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Donation
Paypal is a cancer and people deservedly distrust it There are indeed many problems with PayPal (their handling of WikiLeaks is one problem) which is why I'm boycotting them. It seems that it may be possible for the FSF to process the donations, based on this message: http://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/gnu-linux-libre/2013-01/msg8.html It's too bad this isn't based in the USA as a 501(c)3 non profit. The forming of a software foundation is all the rage these days with control of a technology in the hands of a open community and not a corporation or single person entity. There is much involved in setting up such an organization and I'm not sure that a Trisquel Foundation is needed this time. Even if it were, joining the Software Freedom Conservancy might be a better option that spinning up our own non-profit organization. [0] http://sfconservancy.org/
Re: [Trisquel-users] Donation
The future is not written therefor it´s up for grab, but when I see the present in front of me, all I see is a nice distribution call Trisquel with whatever DE you choose, (Xfce in my case) that help me do the things I need, while not only respecting, but also embracing freedom. The reason I donate is because of the product that is in my hands and not because of the product that perhaps it will be. When the time comes judgement will be made, but until then, Trisquel will have me as a member. Regards,

Not to mention that Bkuhn's a really cool guy. :) So Conservancy is a generally good place to be, if you want the benefits of organisation.
