I'll volunteer for the site... But I don't have much experience with
graphics... so I may need some help there if you want it to be more
than just a simple site.

2004-08-31 Thread Justin West
I use a GSM phone in kirksville that is from my AT&T Wireless carrier
back in St. Louis. However, I get "311 40" listed instead of my "AT&T
Wireless" network display showing whose tower I'm connected to.

Also, I have yet to know whether or not I'm going to have to fight AT&T
on my bill for some outrageous charges for using this network.

If anyone knows what the "311 40" cell network is from, let me know.

Thanks,
Justin West

I'm sorry, but I don't know the answer to that question.

any GSM carriers covering Kirksville and if there is does anyone of you

What did you test the soundcard with? Gnome/Kde apps? Assuming you have
the SOX package installed, try typing

play somefile.wav

(substitute your own wav for somefile.wav)

at the a command prompt. If that fails, check the permissions on
/dev/dsp*, and /dev/mixer* (/dev/sound/dsp* & /dev/sound/mixer* if devfs is
installed [it is on my Mandrake box, don't know about RH8]). Also, check
to see if the driver is installed by typing

lsmod

as root at the command prompt.
