[TV orNotTV] Re: The Weather Channel takes it upon themselves to name all future winter storms.
On Tuesday, October 2, 2012 5:07:27 PM UTC-4, Wesley McGee wrote: http://www.weather.com/news/winter-storm-names-20121001 From a list of ancient gods and goddesses, storybook characters, people mentioned in their children's school textbooks, subway lines, random words plucked blindly from the dictionary, and various persons hated by employees at TWC, they have devised a list of names to give to winter storms (aka snow hurricanes). Why? I have no clue whatsoever, so I will just go to the standby: for ratings. The NBC station in Philadelphia tried this about 10 years ago. The approach was so laughable that it was dropped after one season, if not earlier. -Tim -- TV or Not TV The Smartest (TV) People! Knowing TWC's mindset, I would have thought Q was for the omnipotent, arrogant being who caused so much trouble for Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation (including making the Borg aware of the existence of our quadrant). Agreed on Revolution needing something... and soon. In my mind, the last thing the series should be about is how to turn the lights back on. The story gets more interesting as soon as power is restored and everyone has to adapt. But my sense is they will drag the plot along all f-ing season. -- Kevin M.
