Re: [TV orNotTV] Bristology: Stephen A needed to regret

2014-07-29 Thread Joe Hass
Sorry I'm late on this.

Beadle, I think, got a free pass on her Twitter posts for two reasons: (a)
they were four very powerful tweets, and (b) had ESPN suspended her and not
SAS, it would've made the NFL look like the most sensitive group on the
planet.

Here, in a nutshell, is ESPN at this moment: it's the only thing that's
making Disney profitable. So anything that can be remotely considered
profitable is safe. First Take is a money-making show. As long as it keeps
making money, they're not touching anyone related to it.

KO didn't touch it mostly because he has much safer targets to go after
(and would very clearly not be protected had he taken a shot at them, given
his past history).

Deadspin wrote an outstanding piece a year-and-a-half ago about FT and how
it single-handedly changed ESPN in a very bad way. It's worth reading
because it explains a lot about their behavior regarding SAS.

Keith O. may weigh in, unless he thinks last night covered it well

I equivocate on whether Keith will comment only because the four-letter
may not be keen on expanding a family disagreement/misunderstanding.

Bristol HQ has given Screamin' A. a week off but it's not a suspension even
though it clearly is.

http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/espn-gives-stephen-a-smith-a-week-off.html

A good point Awful Announcing makes that I had forgotten about Sirius/XM's
Mad Dog Radio channel run by Chris Russo has just hired SAS away from ESPN
Radio to host a show on their channel. Given how Sirius/XM was quick to
fire Anthony Cumia after his idiotic racial Twitter outburst and how much
of a ticking time bomb he was would Sirius/XM which is bleeding money as it
is, be willing to risk yet another headache?

Given how he hides behind Bristol complaints with not my day to run the

Skipper will fire my ass on Twitter I wouldn't hold my breath.
