System was rebooted last night and BASIC is back to operational status. Still can't explain it, but I'm asking around to see if anyone was messing with environment variables or anything like that. Do these software suggestions install on the server there by allowing the outside user to only have to have a web browser, i.e.: Internet Explorer, on their computer? It's done as a java application from the users computer through the browser. Your still loading things onto the users computer, but, it's from a controlled url. No need to visit the desktop, but you will have to make sure the firewalls and such will allow the telnet/ssh session to come through. Not quite the same as connecting to the webserver and having it run the telnet from behind your firewall. If it is a Microsoft-based solution (.Net) , I expect that remote users would be required to use Microsoft's IE, that is, not another browser. I have been dabbling with Adobe's new Flex product, for use with UniObjects for Java.
