RE: [U2] [UV] SPOOLER
You could install sudo and give joe permission to run cancel. You could take the unix spooler out of the loop and just have universe print to the printer directly. You could configure universe to use a program like tcpcat to print instead of passing the job to lp. [U2] [sbs] Changing ReportWriter selection criteria
This is getting even more fun! :) When running a ReportWriter report and using the ability to recall saved selection criteria, I want to change the selection criteria used to pull up the saved selection criteria. After pressing F5 to recall, I get a prompt asking which record I'd like to recall. Doing a /COMMON at this prompt and pressing F10 will reveal "SBPARM(" having the selection criteria in attribute 18 as: SSELECT DMCRITERIA WITH F1 = "PRERUN.QUES" I tried doing an SSELECT on DMCRITERIA with my own criteria prior to running the report, but the report just decides to use the current select list as the basis for the report, which is not what I want. My goal is to have users pull up only selection criteria saved with their username in the @ID. Is there perhaps a process in /HK.CONTROL that I can set and test for a process call of "SELECT.QUES]" in order to do an SSELECT prior to bringing up the selection criteria tool? --- u2-users mailing list u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/

I used NET USER to set up all users for a new system. I had a customer who was migrating from UNIX to Windows [much as it pained me to take part in such a thing ;-) ]. I moved the /etc/passwd file from UNIX and wrote a BASIC program to read it in and generate new users on Windows. Naturally, I couldn't interpret the passwords from UNIX. We just plugged the new passwords and forced the users to change them upon first login. The command was: net user user_id new_password /add /fullname "user_name" where userid and user_name came from the passwd file. You will need to have administrator access to perform this, for the obvious security reasons. You can type net user /help at the DOS prompt for more information. RE: [U2] callHTTP using a Proxy Server
I used ISA and have had very little issue. I am not sure based on this email what OS level or version of ISA is running. There is also no indication of how this server is published. Is the client in the network that has ISA and trying to hit a server exposed to the web or the other way around. What are the details of the ISA rule. I am also not that familiar with SB+ I am unclear on its authentication methods but if it requires network access then you may need to have the request come from the ISA server as opposed to from the original client. Bill; If they're already in why do they need a user?? ;-) You can try the net user command (windows command use !net ... To run). Note I have only used it for users to update their own password so not sure how well it will work to create new users (access permissions to do it). Would it be better/easier/safer/more expandable to have the dedicated users to access from ASP (may aid later with connection pooling) and have the application keep track of the user?
