Re: [U2] Linux / file create default permissions

2009-06-17 Thread Timothy Snyder
You could try the UniVerse command “UMASK 000”. Works exactly like
 the Unix version.

Put it in the UV.LOGIN or the account LOGIN macro and everyone will
 get the settings applied.

While this answers the original question, the original question itself
begs another question: Are you sure you want to create all files as 777?
True, this will ensure that nobody will hit access problems. But do you
really want database files created as accessible to anybody with access to
the system? And should they be set as executable? Fully open files are a
huge red flag for system auditors.

There may be times when it's justifiable to create a file as 777, but
creating ALL files as 777 is - IMHO - opening yourself up for a huge
cleanup problem later.

[U2] UODOTNET with SSL

2009-06-17 Thread Hugh Yang

Greetings group.

Anyone use UODOTNET with SSL? How can I enable SSL when I use UODOTNET to
connect with UniData 7.1/7.2 server?

Do I need to modify two configuration files, unirpcservices and .scrfile to
append SCR-ID password and the path of the Security Context Record stored
for udcs service (as described in “Configuring the Database Server for SSL”
from “UniObjects for Java Developer’s Guide”)?

Do I have to use SSL Configuration Editor to manipulate SSL property list?
Or it is just for java?

What do UniSession.EncryptionEnabled and UniSession.EncryptionType do? When
I set UniSession.EncryptionType =1, will UODOTNET use SSL or just encrypt
data?

Why UniSession.EncryptionEnabled is always true on my computer, even when I
set UniSession.EncryptionType =0?

Currently I use both UniData 7.1 and UniData 7.2 server. How does the
compatibility of the UODOTNET.dll work? Can I use UODOTNET.dll of UniData
7.1 to connect with UniData 7.2 server? Can I use UODOTNET.dll of UniData
7.2 to connect with UniData 7.1 server?

Thanks

Hugh Yang
