RE: [U2] Checking the global catalog?

2005-02-11 Thread Hanley, Iain
Wendy,

Take a look at DELETE.CATALOG.

The ECL DELETE.CATALOG command deletes the object code and removes the
record for program from the CTLG subdirectory in which it is cataloged.

Iain.

Looks promising... (and we are on UniData 6.0).

Does this mean that deleting the record from CTLGTB is sufficient to
"uncatalog" the program?

Thanks,

RE: [U2] [UV] Device Licensing

2005-01-20 Thread Hanley, Iain
Dianne,

Does Accuterm have a switch for device licensing? wIntegrate/Dynamic Connect
both have preference settings to support device licensing on UniData and
UniVerse, so it may be that Accuterm does not have the ability to support
the feature.

The help text on wIntegrate say's the following about device licensing:

"Specify your preference for device licensing for UniVerse and UniData on
UNIX host systems. UniVerse 9.5.1c or later and UniData 5.1or later are
licensed per client device. If you are connecting to any of these database
versions on UNIX host systems then you should probably check the Enable
Device Licensing for UniVerse and UniData on UNIX box to prevent each
individual Dynamic Connect session from consuming a license (normally
Dynamic Connect will only consume one license however many sessions to a
particular database are open)."

Could someone tell me how to "test" whether device license is running?
I've opened a session with accuterm and then opened a second session.
When I do a LISTU the final count does include both sessions, which
would make me think that device licensing is not available. But when I
do a CONFIG, it displays "Device licensing is in effect". Is that a
conflict or is the LISTU not the way to check it?
Thanks!

RE: [U2] Edit / Remove a record with no ID

2005-01-18 Thread Hanley, Iain
Simon,

Have you tried to do a SSELECT (Ok, I only know Unidata, but UV is similar),
and then Edit that list.
Anything that has a NULL ID in the file will float to the top and then just
delete that record.

Running in UniVerse on Windows.
I have a select list of say 140 records from a file, then when I drill down
further by say a 'list' or 'sort' on the selected list, I only have 139
records shown.
I suspect I have a record with no 'real' ID.
How can I select and / or remove this record ?

Cheers, Simon.

RE: [U2] [UD] Files from UD Unix to UD Windows

Hi Bruce,

The files will need to be converted in order to use on an NT OS.

You will need to look at:

convmark
convcode
convdata

Is there a way to use files ftp'ed from UD on UNIX to UD on Windows XP?

I'm not going to bore you with why other than I want to know if I can do
it. I ftp the file, set up the voc pointer and I get the message "File
D_FILE.837 does not belong to current language group"

Any ideas?
