Charles,

does your CLASSPATH environment variable correctly point at asjava.zip - it
should include the full path to this file.

I am checking out Uniobjects for Java and am putting together a test app.
I include the line

import asjava.uniobjects.*;

outside of the Class, but get a message The import asjava cannot be
resolved.

The Uniobjects software from the client disc is installed at
C:\IBM\UniDK\uojsdk. Do I need to register the library, or provide the
full path to the lib?

Re: [U2] Transaction Recovery

2006-08-01 Thread John_Appleyard
UniVerse Transaction Logging does indeed need to be configured and Enabled
to achieve what you're looking for. Part of the configuration process
establishes where the Transaction Logging log files are located. All this
can be done from the UniAdmin administration tool which can be installed
from the UniVerse Client CD.

We have a user who dials in over a modem. They lose the phone connection
in the midst of a database transaction - before the commit or rollback.
I do not understand why, but they find that some records are updated and
some are not. It is not what I would expect, but losing the client
like that in a client-server application is not good.

My question is, is there a recovery file somewhere that I can rollback
to prior to the attempted update? If so, what is it called and what
UniObjects call will grab it and roll it back. At this stage UniVerse
transaction logging is not turned on. Should it be? I have looked for
recent files in the user's account folder and the UV account folder but
nothing appears the be useful.

One might think there was no useful info in the attached post, but then
one notices that the From address tells us that Glenn Herbert now has
an IBM address.
If one assumes Glenn still has some association with DataStage, one may
deduce that there may have been some truth to the rumour that DataStage
now has some association with IBM. And it looks like things have
progressed beyond the idea stage.

[U2] IBM UniVerse Internals Course (UK)

2004-11-02 Thread John_Appleyard
shameless_plug

I've registered for the UK UniVerse Internals Course which is due to
commence on Monday, 15th November.

http://www-5.ibm.com/services/learning/uk/ta-iris.nsf/(ExtCourseNr)/UV4

Apparently, I'm the ONLY person whose registered, and if that remains the
case, the course won't run. So if anyone in the UK was thinking about
attending, I would encourage you to click the link above and register your
interest!

Re: [U2] Internal Subroutine

2004-10-25 Thread John_Appleyard
If your system has Primos/Prime INFORMATION ancestry, I believe there
existed an internal Primos routine named cp$. Typically, such routines
were accessible from BASIC using the GCI. If that were the case, you may
end up calling something like $CP$.

Just a thought.

We ran across a call to a routine named $CP$ and can find no references to
it. Can anyone shed some light on this? We are running Universe 9.6.

Bruce,

not definitive, but an answer none-the-less.

I would say Declining.

The London (England) insurance market has been using EDI for many years,
but has now commenced a migration to XML etc.

do you not use an explicit conversion code when you ICONV, e.g

Hello all,

Has anyone else found the following, or am I missing something obvious
here?

I've been working on some VB6 code running uniobjects (v5.2, as is the
version of Unidata/NT), and had the need to pass a date out to a
unibasic subroutine called via the subroutine object. Said subroutine
does a little bobbing about with the passed date, and then constructs a
further date (sort of day:/:month:/:year construct), which is then
ICONVed and returned to the VB program. The problem that I found was the
the ICONV in the databasic returned an internal date as though the
originally constructed date was in MM/DD/YY (American) format, although
being in the UK we use the European DD/MM/YY format, as specified in the
DATE.FORMAT verb (on the server, and also executed as part of the
login).

Is this correct? Have I missed something?

Thanks for any replies.
