Bill:

From the menus Window-Show View-Other-U2Views, then click on plus and
then click on the U2 Resource to highlight it. Once it is highlighted click
on the okay button.

The twenty plus people that went to the February Colorado Multi value Users
Group (CMUG) all got training from me on Eclipse plug-ins. The training was
good for all plug-ins including the one we sell called XLr8Editor and BDT.

The first two-lines after Bill: has the answer ...I can confirm that it is
correct, as well.

The answer doesn't exist in the manual either...yet one more reason to hate
Eclipse :-)

I can't vouch for the other claims though...

I was initially confused by the response - hence missing the answer too!

Re: [U2] [BDT] U2 Resource View

2011-04-20 Thread Doug Averch
Having worked on and written code for Eclipse for six years now, all
plug-ins assume a certain level of knowledge. If you don't have that
knowledge then other than getting Eclipse for Dummies (
http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0764574701.html) you need
to ask questions. Or perhaps more importantly, since most of Rocket's new
tools are Eclipse based, they should have a training course either on-line
or available at their facilities. The CMUG free training course U2logic gave
in February was to address this lack of knowledge. At this CMUG meeting
there was not a empty chair in room.

Whether you are using Rocket's BDT or Xadmin, or our XLr8Editor or
XLr8Resizer, they have all one thing in common: they are based on the
Eclipse IDE platform. There are hundreds of configurable options that you
have to find that can make your programming life so much more enjoyable.
Whether is is double clicking on a variable to find all of the places it is
used in your programming, or using using the outline view to see all of your
variables, or something truly amazing as continuous compile on your source
code, these all are part of this truly rich environment.

Built-in into Eclipse is version control. Just last week we have a
prospective client looking at using XLr8Editor for version control. It took
us all of 10 minutes to have them up and running. This is the power of the
tool that can be used with any version control like CVS, Subversion, Git,
Perforce, or Microsoft's Team Foundation.

Doug:

Thanks very much indeed... the given fix worked.

Yesterday right after I posted my plea for help, I brute force uninstalled
reinstalled BDT. This back-door also worked but it wasted a few minutes.

While many developers can relate to David's frustrations with the subtleties of
Eclipse... there is light at the end of the tunnel... and it is NOT a train
heading toward me.
