[Ubnt_users] UBNT does it again New Prism - Missing Frequencies

2016-07-12 Thread Tom Fadgen

I was happy to finally get in the AC Prism in today. Before I ordered
I checked and saw UNII 1 and 2 were activated in the latest firmware
but NO only the upper frequencies.
Here is UBNT's response:

Re: R5AC Prism New out of box, no UNII Band Activation.

Options

Friday

That's because of previous deadline (06/01/2016) for DTS rules where
newer radios supposed not have deactivation option and also supposed
to be already shipped with new rules activated. Since FCC dates got
changed, we will update firmware and next beta will allow Revised UNII
activation for newer shippments.

Thanks,
Edmundas

So here it goes again, wasting my time and money! I will have to add
these AP's to my UBNT wall of shame!

In the past I've had problems with login everytime I changed something

the cellphone and I'm right in when I happen to have a wifi access
handy. I thought it was the laptop, now it seems I gave it away for no
good reason. Thanks UBNT for costing me a ton of money and time

They do and it isn’t bad. If I had a little more time I could find it for you.
If you look in the AC2 Beta forum you should find instructions on how best to
do that. I wrote a script to backup every Sunday but it is running on Linux so
I am not sure if that would help.

I did the upgrade on the old server with AC2 beta18 to beta22 and have had

just start fresh? Hate to lose the history…. But this is wasting about the same

2016-07-12 Thread Jesse DuPont

Do you log to a remote syslog server or just the local syslog? I use
a remote syslog server and it has it's own date/time stamp on the
log entries it applies as it receives them. Obviously I'll only see
log entries if the radios are linked (if the link is required to
reach the remote syslog server). This way, I can sort by the syslog
server's time stamp and at least have solid order of events to look
at.

should work, but it's not one consistent host. There's a
chance that the host you are given could be down (there's
a small amount of time between health checks and servers
  being pulled from the pool).
  The addresses returned by N.vendor.pool.ntp.org
vary for load balancing. You might get a different host
every time you make a DNS query.

If you have your own stratum 1 or stratum 2 server
you should look at contributing to the NTP pool: http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/
We have a GPS-based stratum 1 feeding some stratum 2
servers that participate in the pool. Traffic is
minimal.

We switched to a purpose-built NTP appliance combined
with a stratum-2 cluster after we noticed that the time
from LMG CTMs and Cambium CMMs was somewhat
inconsistent.
At least on the LMG side we were told that their NTP
was intended only for rough tower-local NTP services (we
saw +/- 5 second variance).

We're currently using the $300 TM1000A (make sure you
are on latest firmware) for stratum 1.
