Should have mentioned, I have this 'labbed' up on living room floor, all
duplicate equipment, save for the router.

I was wanting to use a single strand, but have more available.

Tx Power is -3.798 if this is what you are looking for.

Rx Power is -4.398

that is on a short length of fiber (factory jumper)

Re: [Ubnt_users] RB2011UiAS -- FiberPOE sfp woes

2016-09-12 Thread Faisal Imtiaz
some troubleshooting suggestions:-

1) Take the RB2011 closer to the fiberpoE and test it with a short patch cable.
2) Create a loop by connecting the far side connectors together and see you get
link up ? (tough to do with bidi/single strand of fiber).
3) invest in an in-expensive light meter ... (approx $50) will do the job.
4) can you read light TX & receive levels on the MT ?

BTW what kind of fiber are you using ?
Based on the optics listed, are you trying to use a single strand of fiber ?

Yes, and the blue light on the FiberPOE does not light that way, but
does light up when anto negotiation is selected.

Did you try setting the speed/duplex instead of using Auto negotiate?

[Ubnt_users] RB2011UiAS -- FiberPOE sfp woes

2016-09-12 Thread Jeff Evans
I have an RB2011UiAS that I want to use for a customers home router, we
have an 800 foot fiber run to a ubnt FiberPOE. Any modules I've tried
only show Tx on the Interface, I have also tried the modules on a
Netonix switch (replacing the FiberPoe) with the same result.

The fiber modules that I have tried : Mikrotik S35LC20D/S53LC20D pair --
MAXXwave MW-1315-SM-US/MW-1513-SM-US pair
the above both give me the blue light of success on the
FiberPOE but no real joy.

AND a set of Maxxwave MW-LX-SM-US -- dual fiber, no light on the
FiberPOE with this.

any ideas? Thanks!
