You are, but not everyone on the art team has a chance to be on IRC at

Also, a note to people who have mock-ups on the wikipage, in case

i'm very happy with the one you gave me (and personally would like to

I made the kubuntu splash stuff (at the UISprint in London)...it was
my first real experience with ubuntu art and unfortunately I didn't
realize that there was a ubuntu art list and community (as I seemed
to be the only one working on KDE stuff it wasn't very obvious) nor
did I realize how strong the community is. Hats off to all the guys

that I can integrate myself more into the community as time goes on.

I really do understand how urgent this is, but I don't think that is
enough time for everyone to vote - It isn't fair to stop someone from
voting because they haven't checked their email today...

Given the urgency, maybe we could release provisional results at 0700
- stating how many people have voted (19 members registered at
Launchpad). IF there are some themes or a Usplash that is clearly the
winner/will clearly be included then great, we start packaging them,
but if things are close and not everyone has voted then we really
should give it some more time. I would suggest another 24 hours. What
do others feel?
I'm sorry, but we simply do not have that time. Final Release Candidate
uploads will take place on Wednesday and packaging takes some time.
Everyone involved is also extremely busy ATM.

The top of this page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ArtworkTeam/DapperThemes
is clearly marked '/Artwork deadline May 15th/' so we are already deep
into overtime. There comes a time when a decision just has to be made.

[ubuntu-art] Xubuntu usplash

2006-05-22 Thread Michiel Sikma
I've been talking to janimo, the Xubuntu lead dev, in #ubuntu-devel, and
he asked me to post this here: I also made a Xubuntu usplash screen in
addition to the Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Edubuntu ones, and he thought that
it was worth being voted for on the Xubuntu wiki. There was already a
proposition which was more or less final, but he feels that the art team
should decide which one should be used. The Xubuntu-devel mailing list
will also be notified of this.

The wikipage can be found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DapperXubuntuUsplash

Please vote for one of the splash screens so that it can finally be
packaged and finalized. These are the last few bits and things that
still need to be done. I hope you're all as excited about this launch as
I am...
