I haven't tested whether Human is mostly compatible with dark themes as it currently stands, and I will look into that. Revamping existing icons can be a good idea. Check Jimmac's Mango: http://jimmac.musichall.cz/i.php?i=Tango-NG Same can be done with Human icon theme too, I believe. So maybe you guys will want to use it. Cheers, François Nice. I was wondering if we can integrate this in the uspalsh so that when you look a the Ubuntu logo and the ibex you know exactly what version you are using. Thus the next version will have other silhouette of an animal. Anton -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
Re: [ubuntu-art] New Wave Menus (+ svg icon displacement)
2008/5/21 Anton Kerezov [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Hi, I've made a small change to the menus by adding a fading line from murrine gtkrc and a gradient in the whole menu: 1. Top-bottom: http://img215.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=91814_Screenshot-devel_122_558lo.jpg 2. Left-right (makes icons more visible): http://img201.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=92588_Gradient-left-right_122_210lo.jpg I'm wondering which is best. I've pushed the first version in the repositories but I can always make another revision. While that fading menu separator does look sweet in it self it is out of style with the rest of the theme. Take for example the separator in the Nautilus side pane. This can be resolved of course. This is mostly for the planning process itself, but I am sending it to the list so everyone is clued in as well :). Things we discussed: Dark theme, and incompatibilities from programs with hard coded values. In terms of this, the current plan is to push a dark theme into Ibex ASAP so people can begin to file bugs against the applications in question. [...cut...] If my opinion is worth, I totally agree with your opinion. About Dark-Theme, if choose this I think is better to make an alternative clear theme (or not dark theme), because a dark theme may be aggressive for some people. I think that if we make a theme having the advantages of both dark and light themes -- with dark bars and light contain, like New Wave -- it won't be mandatory to make a light equivalent. Dark themes are annoying when everything is dark, but it is not the case here. [ubuntu-art] New Wave graphical guidelines
Hi! Because we need to work all together in a single direction, without losing efforts for useless things, I took some time today and yesterday to write the graphical guidelines for New Wave. Could you please read them carefully? Here they are: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/Intrepid/NewWave?action=AttachFiledo=gettarget=graphical_guidelines.pdf Cheers, François -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art

Great!!! In this moment I can't read all carefully but this is a good way to work in a single direction. We must focus attention to work to satisfy the guideline in the applications that have not problem with GTK. Instead in application like FF3 or OO (and more) we might report the bug because the problem is not the theme but is in the code. Make hack (or workaround) is not a good solution because non solve the problem. And because this is not right way If we want hope that it will be used by default. Re: [ubuntu-art] New Wave graphical guidelines
Salut François, The document is very good, but looks more like an exposé than a set of guidelines. For example, the choice of colour is hardcoded in guidelines. You should provide a complete palette, but let us choose the color during the design process. For example, i find the orange of highlighted item too bright so that it's not easy to read the text. Keep up the good work, we definitely needs direction :) Regards, Étienne. -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
