Generally, the template is prepared for the css-engine. It can already use the template SVG file, but things are still in flux and will remain so since there are many widgets to add ;) Regarding such auras, graphics that extend beyond the initial size of a widget: I don't know if any current engine can do it or if the css-engine will support it in the future. -- Thorsten Wilms thorwil's design for free software: http://thorwil.wordpress.com/ -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art

Insert your image followed by your name and optionally some notes. Don't worry about formatting much, I will take care of that as contributions arrive. Sadly the "auras" for the focused states extend to outside the button area. This will not work without special support. To everyone: feel encouraged to play with every single aspect of the buttons. Hi, Thorsten. I never post about this but I want to tell you that I really like the whole approach that you want to give to Kyudo. Also, I really like your button designs and I'm looking forward to see how they look with the CSS theming engine Inspired by your buttons, I made a quick design. I don't know if I have to edit the wiki or if I have to sent it to you. You can look them at http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/5617/buttonsetvs9.png. They are a little raw, but it's my first attempt :) -- Seba (AKA spg76) http://www.ubuntu-ar.org -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art

Well, I think this simple 2 tone step doesn't cut it, because you need a well-meaning beholder to not see just 2 colors instead of the impression of glossiness. I suggest you try subtle gradients and study how real world objects with such surfaces look, preferably in a controlled environment (that is knowing or even defining ceiling, walls, floor). -- Thorsten Wilms thorwil's design for free software: http://thorwil.wordpress.com/ -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art

Pretty elegant, original minimize button. This is where opinion comes in. Like I've said before. It wasn't meant mean or personal I even said that. "mr wrote: no need for insults" "I wrote: It wasn't personal. Please don't top-post." <- Which is admittedly *ALOT* better than my past rants on the subject. If you notice, he hasn't said anything and I was done. So you took some personal offense and said something. Which is fine but you only assumed what my intentions were and never asked questions. :) I appreciate the interweb is non-emoting but if one is looking for a fight one can usually find it. I had to learn this as well and started asking questions instead of assuming someone was being pissy. If I'm pissed, or think someone is a , I'll tell you. Otherwise it's just plain strait-forward chat without malice. But now, I really am done. This has run its course and I'm sure we have better things to do. ;) -Cory K. [ubuntu-art] Yukai theme ( Metacity )
Hi everyone , I'm working on a new theme as i told before . I did some more work on the buttons , giving it a smoother look . Here you'll find it : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Auticoder Feel free to comment Greetings , Bart -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
Re: [ubuntu-art] Art opinions
Sorry about last night, I got sucked into replying to defend my position, which I have very little personal interest in. My opinion was not that top posting is good, behaviours of people not following netiquette should of course be corrected, just that you can chastise and be rude to people while still saying please, it's not what you say it is the way you say it, and too often people's first post to this list results in their opinion being completely belittled/ignored followed by a top posting comment. Which would feel like you are showing them the door. Sorry Cory, I appreciate you are the only sane factor on this list, my only real opinion is that you could word things more nicely to make people feel more welcome and that could have been summed up in one sentence in one post without needing defending and without any inflammatory language. -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art

Personally, I've been using mailing lists for 15 years on the > Internet and 5 more on the modem BBSs we used to communicate before that. Actually I think this IS the problem; not the fact that you are suited to mailing lists, but the fact that people that come here are not, and we must understand this. Many are artists, and they don't even know what "top posting" is. A single 'please do not top-post' warning is not enough since it confuses these people and might appear rude to them. We cannot solve the 'problem' of mailing lists usability to new users, but we really *need* these people to contribute, so maybe we should explain better. It only takes a few words : 'oh and by the way, please reply below the quoted message for best readability'. Or maybe we could find another way to communicate with artists and users in a way that suits them more (e.g. a moderated artwork section in the ubuntu forums), while keeping this mailing list for more technical discussions.
