Heya

I don't experience this. Are you running plane Tangerine theme or
Human? I'm running karmic as well and I have my bottom bar at 18px now
just to check.

Nothing major as far as I can see after Holbach's overhaul =)

1) Set ~ubuntu-art-pkg as Maintainer/Driver or both of the project
2) Set "trunk" series of tangerine-icon-theme project to point at
lp:~ubuntu-art-pkg/tangerine-icon-theme/ubuntu
3) Create release in the "tangerine-icon-theme" project with 0.27
tarball as uploaded to karmic
4) Ping Debian-Gnome team with respect to new release
5) Go though all the bugs in lp (ubuntu + project) and bts
6) Set bzrbuilddeb property to split
7) Upload updated tangerine to art-ppa

I can do 4&5 or you can do just the first one and approve me into the
team so that I can do all of these tasks =) I promise to be good and
I have 3 patches merged already ;-)

[ubuntu-art] Tangerine Icon Theme Upstream Driver

2009-08-28 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
Hello All

I've just submitted a patch for tangerine-icon-theme package to fix 3 bugs.

I did a -3ubuntu1 version. But it seems a bit odd, cause I thought it
was an Ubuntu driven theme.

Who is driver / maintainer of upstream launchpad.net/tangerine-icon theme?

Who has access to change driver / maintainer?

Does anyone wants to actively maintain it?

I would love to maintain it =) I'm not an artists but I love this
theme and I'm a fairly good packager / autotools intermediate user.
There are already a few submissions on launchpad bugs which I would be
willing to investigate (legal / licensing) and incorporate.

(I like breathe as well and I'm not intending to steal thunder ;-) I
just want tangerine to still be in decent shape in ubuntu/debian
archives)

I know it's not licensed by apple! I'm talking about the transmission
developers. Someone did design the 512px icon which is used when they
compile for Mac. I'm just pointing out that as it stands now this svg
icon is plagiarism and cannot be legally included into the breath icon
set.

Transmission is default torrent application Ubuntu. And by puting it
under the transmission icon name it will only be used for the
transmission application (not any other torrent application and not
for mime/torrent)

As for icon itself you need to contact upstream or who-ever design the
icon for Mac. Although you have recreated the icon from scratch it is
still derived work and if it goes into the icon theme it needs to be
license under compatible license. Currently Breathe is under
CC-BY-SA-3 while Majoirity of Transmission is MIT, portions are under
GPL and LGPL. The later two are not compatible with CC-BY-SA-3

I love the icon but welcome to the license profiliation world ;-)

Best option IMHO is to try to submit this icon upstream. Or ask them
if they have SVG already / or ask permission to license your icon
under CC-BY-SA-3.

3d icon is HOT =D

But For the sake of scaling in an icon theme I think 2d is better
(there are a lot of netbooks out there which will use the small icons)

Looks nice. Too me in feels like it's missing a bunch of papers inside
it cause it is so wide open. Also from perspective point of you (i'm
not artists) don't the left and right side should be a little bit
curved outwards? Maybe it's just me but it doesn't quite look
realistic.

I prefer the left one. Can you make some smaller pictures? cause
sometimes scaled down versions don't look as good as expected.

Something along the lines

http://images.apple.com/macosx/features/images/bootcamp_assistant20071016.gif

which might get you in trouble as well.

[ubuntu-art] Hello & Tangerine Icons

2009-05-30 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
Hello All!

== Intro ==

My first email to the list and hence I'd like to introduce myself. I'm
an Electronics Engineer student and I appriciate computer graphics a
lot and like my desktop to look cool =D

I've started to get involved with packaging and fixing some minor bugs
in software I use. I can't do art but hopefully I'll be able to help
you with something =D

== Tangerine Theme ==

I like the theme but there is a small drawback. For apps only
"alacarte" scalable size is installed and the rest of the app scalable
versions are simply ignored due to a small type in the makefile.

Can someone please review bug 380474 [1] / merge proposal [2] with the fix?

Cause I use Gnome-do Docky at quite large size and only SVG's look good on it =D
