I hope it inspires others to contribute to the Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase as well. We received around 1,500 photos for both the Lucid and Karmic releases. Goce's video was the first and originated from this list - I'm happy he agreed to my suggestion to add it to the vimeo group - the new HD version is even better! The video category is probably the most "open" of all. There are no rules, no expectations other than greatness :-) Show us what you can do. Any questions/problems can be easily answered/solved. Nathan, Have you done a completely new fresh install of Lucid? My boot times were pretty decent after an upgrade, but I noticed big improvements after I had backed up my data and did a clean fresh install of 10.04. I dont know if Im at a 10 second boot time, but I think Im in the 15-20 seconds boot time without actually timing it. If you really want to show how quickly Ubuntu boots up then you need to do a side-by-side comparison turning on the same computer with windows and Ubuntu.
