[ubuntu-art] Icon library

2009-09-17 Thread mac_v
Hi,

I came across a nice app which can be useful for icon artists. :)

https://code.launchpad.net/icon-library/+download

Download the tar.gz , extract it and run icon-library.py

I find it useful to check
- if the symlinks are correct / if we missed any symlinks
- how the icons look on different backgrounds.

Almost like a twf for icons ;)

I wouldnt say the app is perfect , but i found it useful to check the
integrity of the icon set.

But it seems the developer has not focused on it for a long time, when
contacted the author said he had developed the icon-library to help him
pick icons for apps He wanted ideas to improve it and people to
file bugs ;)

Or if someone forks the app and improves it , do inform the artwork ML
too... ;)

[ubuntu-art] Icon Library again... feedback plz.

2008-10-15 Thread Matthew McGowan
Hi,

A while back i let people know about the little app i was working on.

Well, I have added a few features people had asked for:

1) Manually select themes to open (Browse to index.theme file)
http://picasaweb.google.com/matthew.joseph.mcgowan/IconLibrary#5257576834586235490

2) An Icon set editor has been added. To open the editor right click on
an icon set in the list view and select 'Icon set properties'. It works
well in most cases but it definitely needs testing. Moreover, I would
welcome some usability suggestions on what would be the most natural way
to edit icon sets.
http://picasaweb.google.com/matthew.joseph.mcgowan/IconLibrary#5257576838453371282

3) You can jump to the 'target' icon set in the list view when the
selected icon set is a symlink
http://picasaweb.google.com/matthew.joseph.mcgowan/IconLibrary#5257578937428801058

I plan on adding custom background colors when time allows. As for now
i welcome any feedback and further suggestions, and definitely contact
me when you inevitably find some bugs.

You can download the tar.gz here:
http://code.launchpad.net/icon-library/trunk/alpha1/+download/icon-library-16102008.tar.gz

I look forward to your comments.

Regards,
Matthew

Man needless to say how cool this program is. Just amazing and as said
Ken it may turn out to be the ultimate icon creation platform.

I wish I knew python in order to help you. Keep up the wonderful work!

Looks like you did :)

This is already a very nice tool and could be very useful for the
Breathe icon effort. For which customisable background colors would be
cool, although I guess it's easy to adjust them in the script :)

Thank you, rock on!
