I would like to volunteer for the task. Where can I find the current build
system and any related documentation?

gthumb has the best raster-algorithm I ever had seen. Gimp the worst. ;)

I doubt gthumb does something different from GIMP or Imagemagick ... the
last should make it rather easy to script it.

No. I understood the 1st time. ;) Get someone to edit the build script
to do this and I'll accept. Otherwise, things will stay as they are.

This behaviour is normal, because Inkscape renders finally in rasters.
For optimise the raster I render drawings with 180dpi in Inkscape and
let the phenomenal program "gthumb" the calculation back to 90dpi, also
185x135 in our case. Seems that gthumb has a better raster-algorithm...
it's all. ;)

I checked it out and the results are very professional.

Note that shifting your image/icon 1px in any direction can change how
it's rendered in Inkscape. Also, if there's settings I can add to the
render script for Inkscape I'd be happy to try them.

When we can find time for debate on this topic, I'd like to find out what
program Oliver likes better for rendering and investigate how much work it
would actually take to replace Inkscape with the alternative in the build
process.

Please let me know when you are willing to have that discussion.

We have a build system in place. It took a bit to develop and get right.
I have no intention of changing now. Sorry. All sources are to use our
SVG template and exported with Inkscape.

If we were to do this work manually and make exceptions here and there
it would be too much to maintain and keep track of.

For now, this is not a topic that is up for debate.
