I agree that there are some apps that ignore the rules of positioning
the scrollbars but you can get used to it. Even if it is only scrollbar
it preserves it's shape and general sunken look at the left side.

You mean right edge? No I haven't experimented because my purpose is to
cut lines in order to make the interface look simpler. I have done this
because ppl use the only slider to drag the contents up and down and the
arrows very rarely. That is why I decided the right lines are not
necessary at all.

I know for this but don't know how to match (in the gtkrc) the entry of
the combo in order to make it with better shape to fit the button
(currently drawn: normal entry + partial button). If you know smth I'll
be glad to hear it.

'sudo apt-get install p7zip' saved my day :-)

Here goes:

 - Really polished, probably the best version hitherto. Super work overall.

 - I think the scrollbar color is good - that is: I disagree with some
of the other commenters who found it too subdued

 - The scrollbars are very experimental and they work well on some
widgets and not so good on others. It is very good for embedded lists
and tree views, but not so good on fx. GMail's embedded text editor
(which I am using as I write this :-)). Another problematic case is
when the scrollbar is on the right. You can try this out in Gnome
Terminal by configuring the "Scrolling" tab in its profile. I don't
know how RTL languages lay out the scrollbars...

 - Have you experimented with some kind of left edge on the scrollbar.
The problem is that it appears a bit "floating" the widget on the left
of it does not provide a natural border (again see embedded GMail
editor).

 - But to make it clear - really, really, great work!

 - Looking at "The Widget Factory" It looks like the text entries in
GtkCombo does not align pixel perfect with their arrow-buttons (there
seems to be some cruft in the right corners of the entries).
GtkComboBoxEntry looks good though.

For you and everybody else that might wonder:

To install 7z suport go to Synaptic and search for p7zip or,
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/utils/p7zip
(see the Download section)

I wanted my mail received in the mailing list so I used maximum
compression.

You do realize that 7z compression is not supported by default in
Intrepid? If the point is to preserve bandwidth I think bz2 should do
almost as well.

Will test it when I find out how to decompress that 7z archive :-)

I have made a quick fix for this. Please visit and download the package
from there (New Wave Pack 0801) to test and confirm if it works:

For those interested I have a deb in my PPA for a proposed update to
gnome-themes-ubuntu. It updates New Wave to 0.8 and includes the New
Wave Dark Menus (gtk+ only, not meta) theme.

Thank you for the feedback.

1) It would be nice indeed but the image used for panels could not be
stretched due to limitation of Gnome. So I'm using one universal image
for top/bottom and all sized panels. If I make a highlight at the top of
the image for the bottom panel it would be ugly in the top panel. i
think that the panels "stand out" by their darker color and in the same
time are usable.

2) This is also a problem with GTK because the text control could not
have transparent backgrounds (the white pixels left) thus I'm using the
most appropriate color for the control to fit it's usual (light grey or
white) background. You cannot see this in clearlooks because the panel
is light. Also the pixmap engine is known for not such a great
flexibility when it comes to integration and merging of widgets.

Probably it is possible to make a exception matching for textboxes in
panels but that would not solve the problem on other dark backrounds.

The firefox theme is only beta plus it would probably not be included in
Ubuntu. But if Kenneth decides I will polish it some more and will
provide a better version with some more tweaks and fixes. I'm providing
it now in order for easier firefox fixing and integration.

@ Dodol
Use the theme with dark menus and you will have no problem with OO.

Great job, Anton!
I just downloaded the theme and I'm loving the new stuff.
My only (tiny) critic it's that the tabs on the Firefox theme have a
different close button from the rest of the applications.
Of course, that we could add your button to the Breathe theme ;) But if
someone use a different icon theme the button remains the same.
Anyway, the theme it's fantastic.
Keep up the great work.

Thank you!

The sliders should not be as dark as the metacity because if
they are they will attract too much attention and will not be usable.

The will look even better without the up and down arrows from the gtkrc.
This version with arrows is specially for Ubuntu's defaults because Open Office
does not
display sliders if they don't have steppers (very strange if you ask me).
