Is there a Kubuntu equivalent for Corel Draw 7 Select Edition?
Hi All, I have a copy of a fairly old Corel Draw 7 Select Edition and I installed it today. Unfortunately, even tho' it does run with WINE -- it is not a very happy program. I think that its probably TOO OLD!!! E.g. It locks up several times. As the subject of this email suggests, I'm looking for a Linux Kubuntu equivalent of it. In particular, I really used to love the Corel Trace program [ it converts raster images into vector drawings... very clever!!! ] I'd really appreciate any suggestions on Kubuntu software I should try. *SMILE* -- Fond Regards, Peter Eric (aka 'pew') WILLIAMS My free website is: http://pewtas.googlepages.com (or) http://tinyurl.com/yuyejs (please visit my free website and let me know what you think about it.) -- ubuntu-au mailing list ubuntu-au@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-au
Re: I need a Menu Editor for the Application Launcher Menu (widget)
Sorry Peter, I missed something else on first read. Your using KDE4 where im still on 3 for familiarities sake. No idea how this works with KDE4. Leslie Peter Williams wrote: Hi Leslie, 2008/8/2 Leslie Gossner [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Peter Actually i didn't know how to do this myself and had to look it up but its so simple i almost kicked myself. Right click the K Menu icon and choose Menu Editor. Does not appear to have a Menu Editor option. Does anyone else have any suggestions of where I can find a Menu Editor for it. This is a BIG PROBLEM because my Lost and Found menu is CHOCKABLOCK full of menu items... mainly for WINE software!!! Ideally I'd like to use a menu editor and copy them to a new menu -- say, named WINE. But of course, I cannot do this without a menu editor!!! Actually after rereading this its not quite what your after but may do the job for you anyways. Good Luck Leslie Peter Williams wrote: Hi All, I posted a message about this before but I think it got lost / overlooked. I use Linux Kubuntu 8.04 KDE 4.0. On my desktop I have added a 'widget' called Application Launcher Menu (Traditional menu based application launcher). What I now need to do is edit and re-arrange the menu folders and menu items. So, I figure I need a Menu Editor for the ALM. When I used Gnome I used the Ala Carte Menu Editor and found it to be quite good. Is there something similar for KDE 4.0 and the ALM ?!? Inkscape does vector drawing and seemingly magic vector tracing with even newer and better techniques! I have followed your instructions (above) and successfully edited my Menu Launcher(s). I now have 2 questions: 1) How can I make all of my menus and submenus and menu items be SORTED -- instead of not sorted (which is what they currently are). 2) When I edited the submenus and menu items, I selected each item one at a time. Is there a way that I can select multiple menu items (e.g. like holding the control key or using the shift key -- to select more than just one menu item) Thank you very much!!! *SMILE* -- Cheers, 631D 88CF 58B1 44C7 BB8D 7183 0790 5FB8 B48D 7241 Ishwor GurungThis is a cryptographically signed message. Inkscape is my preferred application, but in the name of choice and diversity there is also Karbon: http://www.koffice.org/karbon/ However I don't know if it has the trace features of Inkscape (via potrace). -Dan Alex (Maxious) Sadleir wrote: Inkscape does vector drawing and seemingly magic vector tracing with even newer and better techniques! About asking for help
This extract from my personal mail may be useful for other newbies to the wonderful world of Linux:- He said: I noticed your question on the ubuntu-list. Whenever I want to know something, what I write into the Google searchbar is this: creating slideshow with sound in linux for example. Once you have done that you are qualified to ask the brainstrust for further guidance. That way you show that you have tried to help yourself but still need a leg-up. I replied: I guess it might look like I haven't tried very hard. Truth is I spent much time trying out the few Ubuntu programs I am aware of. I even regressed back to Windows for a while. In the end I thought it was simply a matter of discovering which Linux program would do the job. So I asked, what I thought was a simple question. That said, I have taken your advice. Indeed, there is a wealth of information on the Net. Moreover, I can see that it is a lot more complex than I originally thought. Thanks for the advice. I guess I could have been smarter.
