Re: Sound in Skype

2011-08-27 Thread joey168
Hi Anthony,

using Skype daily, I have the same experience. It seems that the test
call stuck sometimes or is just not approachable. I can't say what
happened, but it has definitely nothing to do with your settings. The
problem occurs on Linux and Windows equally. I got the feeling that the
whole service dropped over the last months, because we also had problems
with the paid services of Skype without getting any apologize or credit
notes for not delivered services.

regards
Ferdi

Hi Folks,

Recently, although working ok for quite a while, the incoming sound in
Skype is not working. My version of Skype is 2.2.0.25. When checking
about this problem on the net, many people are stuck with this problem.
I have done all sorts of checks and also successfully played CDs. Also
the sound settings are ok. The Skype 'sound test' is good, but the test
call just does not work (at least the lady's voice cannot be heard)

People online in Skype can hear me ok. I get the impression that the
problem is with Skype. And seeing Skype is now owned by Microsoft, who
would one contact there ?

The suggestion has been made to use an older version of Skype, but I am
not sure that this is still available for Ubuntu 11.04. And Skype
2.2.0.25 is still shown as a Beta System and has been for months.

Well, I really would appreciate any assistance with this bug/problem.

thanks and regards

Stumbleupon is awesome if you're bored and need to kill some time looking at
things on the web that interest you.

Basically you pick topics that only interest you and Stumbleupon brings you
pages on those topics voted by people all over the
world to be the most interesting.

 Here's a brief intro http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4D_a-h4XFMo

How does this apply to Ubuntu you say?  If you add from the hundreds of
topics the Open Source and Linux/Unix topic groups,
you can discover lots of new and different projects currently being used or
in development that may work with Ubuntu.

Easiest way to install it is to start Firefox, goto Tools - Add-ons and
in the search bar at the top right type in Stumbleupon, click install
 and restart Firefox.

Making a new account only needs an email address and a nickname and your
 set.

 Have fun!

I had this installed a few years ago. I found it too involving and
sometimes I'd realise I'd spent 3 hours just hitting that silly little
button. For those of us with no self control or no concept of time
when sitting at a computer this thing is dangerous. So it's only fault
was, it was too good.
