Hi Lisa,

I'd be surprised if you can find one that *isn't* compatible...
Just take a liveCD with you to the shop, and ask to try the dongle with it.

I'm sure the general stuff you learn for LPI 1 will be a good base to
build from, as RHCE is a more senior level of sysadmin knowledge.
Not having done RHCE as yet, that's as specific I can get.. :P

Study for LPI 1 first, then decide where to take it.
Alternatively, do the lower level RH exam - RHCT - first, then go on
to RHCE. Red Hat exams are a bit pricey, so make sure you study and
practise lots first.

Speaking as a LPI 1 (101/102) alumni (self-study, no course), it's
been mentioned exactly once in my job hunting, by a recruiter for a
job I didn't get.

I suggest a RHCE will attract more attention, but an LPI 2 or 3 might
also be worth it.
I'm considering getting the Ubuntu add-on to my LPI, and either
getting the LPI 2 or RHCE on top of that.

Yep, I'm using the little aerial.. would think I'd get at least ONE lousy
channel on it??
I guess the next step is to grab a coaxial cable and see if it makes a
difference... anyone know if there's a max length on those things?
The aerial 'outlet' is probably 20m (following walls and doors) from the

WinFast DTV2000H on Kubuntu 8.04

2008-10-06 Thread Frode Egeland
Hi all,

I'm hoping someone has one of these cards, as I think I'm stuck.
I've added the cx88-dvb module to my modules.conf, and the card now is at
least 'seen' by my system, but I can't find any channels in Kaffeine's TV
mode.
I have also tried 'tvtime', which also fails to see any channels. I know we
have at least some reception here for digital tv, so if someone has one of
these cards working, please drop me a line.

Thanks,
Frode

Ok, I'll need to find out how much those prepaid envelopes are.. then the
price will be that cost, plus $0.50 per shiny metallic sticker. Sound okay?

I have a bunch, and once I check that the (very patient) people that
expressed interest before I ordered them are still interested, I'll take
stock of just how many spares I have (beyond those they ordered), and these
will go out on a first-come basis. :)

Rather than spamming the list any further with this, if you are interested,
please email me off-list. I'll send two more mails to the list about this:
one to tell you how much stock I have available, and one when they are all
gone. :)

Re: Fw: Dual Booting -Toggle between O/Systems

2008-01-04 Thread Frode Egeland
> 1. How to create a toggle?

On the fly? You need to make your Ubuntu a virtual machine that runs
inside Windows. Otherwise, you will need to reboot, which is not 'on
the fly' at all..

For dual-boot: Make a FAT32 partition, which both systems can access
with full read/write.
For a VM, I've found that using WinSCP to copy files is easiest.
Others might have better suggestions?
