I just struck me as funny at the time. Err. What does BSD mean please? Dave W BSD - Berkeley Software Distribution. To get more information have a read through the wikipedia :) One primary difference between linux and bsd is that in bsd, everything in the system is worked on by a core set of bsd developers. compare that with linux where hundreds of developers/coders working on simulataneously/concurrently. plus the focus in lot of BSDs around is on strong codebase, security and ehnacibility. Everyone knows about openbsd's popular ssh server. it has pretty well withstood the time so far. These days bsd's popular choice prevail as an alternative to windows/linux/solaris. Espceially Freebsd, OpenBSD and Netbsd. there are more. these were derived from 4.4BSD i think. have a great weekend folks. Its not lunacy at all. I do own a 360, but I consider the PC gaming experience to be superior to a console. As well, there is many use cases of having cool uses for linux gaming - such as on mobile media devices or mobile phones. There is no technical reason why Linux gaming cant occur. Linux works on many platforms and is open, so cool apps like say a linux phone running GLTron or indeed an SLI powerhouse running the latest opengl and openal FPS. You will be surprised Daniel how often I see people saying they dont run Linux because the gaming experience is poor. Perhaps if you more carefully considered your position you would not be so quick to dismiss it out of hand. -- ubuntu-au mailing list ubuntu-au@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-au
Re: Microsoft CDs
hey all im new to the mailing list and thought this was a great to reply to. well my point of view in for this topic is i really have to laugh when some people have no sence of humor, i mean the whole time people were saying jokes not statements about windows. yes it wouldn't be fair if we were saying windows sucks full stop. but truth is they are jokes never the less, you might not think there funny but i was laughing my a off at some of them. here is one i thought was gold, its from the ubuntu forums 3 people had carpool: a mechanical engineer, a electrical engineer and a Microsoft programmer. But the car suddenly broke down. Mechanical engineer said: Hey! It has to be the fuel injection. Lemme fix it. The electrical engineer didn't agree: It's magneto probably. I'll fix it. Microsoft programmer shoke his head and said: Hey guys, I have a simpler idea: Let's just close all the windows, get out of the car, then get back into it, and it should run! check out http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=91105 if u like some good quality jokes as i do Peace out Tazsta On Fri, 2008-07-04 at 01:21 +0930, ishwor wrote: Hey list, On Thu, 3 Jul 2008 07:15:11 am The Wassermans wrote: I came upon this pearle while browsing. Windows suck big time but I don't think making jokes is a fair on them especially when it's OFFTOPIC in this list as well. :| I am not flaming or supporting M$ windows but that's just a thought I came as I write this mail while sitting outside in my lawn. Please don't hold grudges against me for talking like this :). I love Penguins. I just can't stand people criticising something without a valid statement. Oh it is MS windows, its got to suck! and this is alacarte Linux. The Wassermans schrieb: Err. What does BSD mean please? Dave W It's another family of Unix-like operating systems. The acronym is 'Berkeley Software Distribution', because it originated in the University of California, Berkeley (I think). In business contextxs 'BSD' also has a more humorous meaning, but I'll leave you to look that one up :) -- ubuntu-au mailing list ubuntu-au@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-au

The PC gaming experience is indeed superior, which is why it's better to have a copy of Windows than it is to buy a 360 or similar. It's also much cheaper - no extra hardware costs, except maybe for a separate hard drive, and the individual games cost less (and (mostly) no BS online gaming subscriptions). Some people waste a lot of time and effort trying to get Windows games running on Linux using Wine and/or Cedega, but life's too short for that kind of fscking around IMHO (something I found out through bitter experience ;) ). Me, I have my 'Wintendo' and I'm happy :) -- ubuntu-au mailing list ubuntu-au@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-au
