Re: PDF Reader
Adobe Reader is available for 64-bit as the 'acroread' package from the Medibuntu[1] repository. I don't use it however as evince works fine for me :-) Regards, Hew McLachlan [1] http://www.medibuntu.org/ GWmbox wrote: > Well I'm new here so maybe, but when I tried to run the deb installer > from Adobe it stopped as it was wrong platform (x86 and not x64) > -- ubuntu-au mailing list ubuntu-au@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-au

Hugh Blemings wrote: Hiya, Hi guys, what PDF reader do you guys use and recommend? The Document Viewer (Evince) opens them fine but is difficult to select and copy text. Also tried xpdf but still not very good any other ideas? FWIW, back around Intrepid I found kpdf worked pretty well - seemed to be noticeably more sophisticated in cut and paste options relative to xpdf at least Cheers, Hugh Thanks Huigh, I might give that a go. Alternatively is there a way to get the x86 version of Adobe Reader to install and run on an x64 Jaunty? I tried to install the x86 deb but I get the wring architecture error and it will not install that way. I's still learning and trying to work out a way I can force install - if you have any ideas please let me know. Well I'm new here so maybe, but when I tried to run the deb installer from Adobe it stopped as it was wrong platform (x86 and not x64) Cheers Greg Scott Evans wrote: > Please excuse my ignorance! but can't you run 32b in 64b ??? > > > -- > This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended > solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. > If you have received this email in error please notify the system manager. > This message contains confidential information and is intended only for the > individual named. Yes I should have mentioned I am using Jaunty x64, hence why Adobe Reader is not possible as it does not run in x64 ... I tried :) evince (or document viewer) works mostly but it does not copy test very well if you have multiple columns... so no good for what I need... Any other suggestions Cheers Greg Paul Gear wrote: Scott Evans wrote: If you don't mind a little bit of bloat you could always install adobe acrobat reader! Lately, evince seems to work pretty well for almost everything. I run 64-bit jaunty. Paul -- ubuntu-au mailing list ubuntu-au@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-au
