[Bug 787383] [NEW] Include bitesize script in ubuntu-dev-tools

2011-05-24 Thread Daniel Holbach
Public bug reported:

As part of https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/community-o
-developer-initiatives we want to encourage developers to identify more
bitesize bugs. To make that easier we wrote a small script that
automates the task. To get more people to use it we'd like to backport
it to natty.

I took the bitesize script and its manpage from lp:ubuntu-dev-tools,
updated debian/copyright and setup.py accordingly. It builds and
installs just fine.

The reason I did not backport the whole current lp:ubuntu-dev-tools (and
reverted r1087 in ./bitesize) is for us to avoid a conflicts/replaces
dance with a newer devscripts. That's also why I called it
0.122.1+bitesize~natty1 and not 0.124~natty1.

[Bug 783006] Re: A request for FocusWriter

2011-05-24 Thread Evan Broder
Eliah, the thoroughness of your review is definitely appreciated, though
in the future there's no need to test more than one architecture.

ACK from backports for natty.

I've also uploaded test backports to ppa:broder/backports-tests for
lucid and maverick, and opened matching tasks on this bug. Feel free to
do the same for them once they've been tested.

As far as the Unity-related issues, I'm not sure what the right solution
is there. I'm looking into it, and I'll try to point you in the right
direction when I figure it out. It does look like there's an outstanding
bug to make appmenu-gtk handle fullscreen apps better (bug #591189)

[Bug 787383] Re: Include bitesize script in ubuntu-dev-tools

2011-05-24 Thread Evan Broder
It looks like the version of u-d-t currently in oneiric (0.123) already
includes the bitesize script. If we act quickly (i.e. before there's
another upload of u-d-t), would a no-change backport of that version be
sufficient for your needs?

I'd be happy to ACK that if you can verify b/i/r.

[Bug 784910] Re: after update kernel 2.6.38.8 to 2.6.39.43

2011-05-24 Thread Evan Broder
Hi -
You've filed a bug against the Ubuntu Backports Project, which generally has
no involvement in the Ubuntu kernel. You can read
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports for more information.

Additionally, neither 2.6.38.8 nor 2.6.39.43 are Ubuntu kernel versions.
It sounds like you might be referencing the current and proposed kernel
versions, though - 2.6.38-8.42 and 2.6.38-9.43. If that's the case, you
should file a bug against the linux package in Ubuntu by running
ubuntu-bug linux on your machine. That will also collect additional
information that is necessary to even begin to debug any issues you are
seeing.

I'm going to close this bug; I'd recommend following the instructions
above to open a new one.

I'm going to go ahead and close this out. I do think the r-deps should
be tested, and it turns out that I don't need this backport anymore, so
I don't have any motivation to do the testing.
