Have you ever tried playing a DVD or Video after a Clean installation of windows? oh wait! you also needs to download all the drivers too, if CD is not available. Also you should BUY window, should not you? and Windows is bound to get slower and slower with every software you install I can bring out many many problems for windows that users *definetly* face once in a while which Linux will certainly never face and you don't even expect it tobe get fixed cause the updates are not frequent and you probably using a pirated version. So why should not I encourage people for a better alternative?! why should I be a comunist if I have a better solution? You see you need to change your mentality. You have to accept the differences. I encourage anyone who is willing to accept the differences and spend some time on it and I'm not interested to help those who are not. I have my first ever laptop installed ubuntu from the first day. The difference between you and me is. I can sense other's minds I can read what others would say. I can tell others problems so I can solve them better. You thought those were just inside my mind. No thats not. When you wanna implement this system I read the minds of the people you gonna face. I would really appreciate if you can track down my current problem. I am not willing to use Windows anymore in my laptop. For that reason I cant use net at home for over a month. I am just searching through google and asking friends if they know a solution. And If you ask about mentality. I am more than helpfull to people. লেনিন ভাই আসলে আপনি যে প্রশ্নগুলো করেছেন বা যে ইস্যুগুলো বলছেন সেগুলো নিয়ে বিভিন্ন সাইটে ফোরামে আলোচনা হয়েছে। কিছু জিনিস বুঝতে হবে। ১) লিনাক্স এবং উইন্ডোজ সম্পূর্ন ভিন্নভাবে কাজ করে। আপনার লিনাক্সের জন্য প্রুফ অব কনসেপ্ট হিসেবে ভাইরাস আছে ঠিক। কিন্তু সেই ভাইরাসগুলো আপনার কম্পিউটারে থাকলেও কিছু হবে না। কারন হচ্ছে আপনাকে ভাইরাসগুলো মাউন্ট করে চালাতে হবে। তাছাড়া এন্টিভাইরাস যেগুলো আছে সেগুলো কিন্তু ডিফল্টভাবে দেয়া থাকে না। কারন এগুলো লিনাক্সের জন্য উদ্দেশ্য করে তৈরি নয়। বরং যারা সাম্বা ব্যবহার করে নেটওয়ার্ক দিয়ে লিনাক্স ও উইন্ডোজ ব্যবহার করে উইন্ডোজ সিস্টেমের যাতে কোন ক্ষতি না হয় সেজন্য এন্টিভাইরাস তৈরি করা হয়েছে। এই এন্টিভাইরাস লিনাক্সের জন্য না বরং উইন্ডোজের জন্যই কোন সূত্র দিলে তা নিয়ে আরেকটু জানুন। ২) লিনাক্স ইনস্টলের পর উইন্ডোজ ইনস্টল করা হলে লিনাক্স লাইভ সিডি দিয়ে বুট করে টার্মিনাল খুলুন এবার sudo grub-update লিখে এন্টার কাজ হবার কথা। না হলে অন্য পদ্ধতিও আছে। ৩) ডেস্কটপ পাবলিশিং আছে বেশকিছু। তবে আপনার কি মনে হয় আপনি খুব সহজে দোকানে লিনাক্স বসাতে পারবেন? এরা উইন্ডোজ ছাড়া কিছু চিনে না। এদের কম্পিউটারে ডুয়েল বুট করে দিলেও এরা উইন্ডোজ ব্যবহার করতে থাকবে। ৪) দুঃখজনক হলেও সত্যি অধিকাংশ মানুষ অন্য ভেন্ডরদের দোষে গাল দেয় লিনাক্সকে। 'আমার ভিডিও কার্ডের ড্রাইভার নেই লিনাক্স সাক্স' 'আমার মডেমের ড্রাইভার নাই লিনাক্স সাক্স'। এই ড্রাইভারগুলো তৈরি করার দায়িত্ব কি লিনাক্স ভেন্ডরের নাকি সেই ডিভাইস মেনুফেকচারের? আপনি জানেন কিনা জানি না তবে এসব অধিকাংশ ডিভাইসের ড্রাইভার প্রস্তুতকারক ছাড়া অন্য কেউ তৈরি করতে পারে না। যেমন এনভিডিয়া ড্রাইভার, এটাতে যতোই সমস্যা হোক লিনাক্সের কেউ এই ড্রাইভারে কোন পরিবর্তন পরিমার্জন আনতে পারবে না। ৫) উবুন্টু তাদের আদর্শের কারনে বিভিন্ন কোডেককে বিভিন্ন ভাগে ভাগ করে আলাদা করে রেখেছে। আমি ব্যক্তিগতভাবে মনে করি এই মতোবাদে কোন সমস্যা নেই। কারন প্রোপ্রাইটোরি এবং রয়ালটি নেয় এমন ফরম্যাট ব্যবহার করার চেয়ে ওপেনসোর্স ফরম্যাট ব্যবহার করা অনেক ভালো। আমি তো আমার বেশ কিছু গান ছবি ওগগ ফরম্যাটে কনভার্ট করে নিয়েছি কোন সমস্যা ছাড়াই। আর যদি আপনার কোডেক শুরু থেকেই দরকার তখন আপনি লিনাক্স মিন্ট ব্যবহার করতে পারেন। লিনাক্স মিন্ট উবুন্টুর উপর ভিত্তি করে তৈরি তারউপর সব কোডেকগুলো বাই ডিফল্ট দেয়া আছে। ভাই এতোক্ষণ যা বললাম সবই কিন্তু বিভিন্ন সাইটে ফোরামে বলা হয়েছে। এরজন্যই আমরা বলে থাকি গুগল ব্যবহার করে দেখুন। গুগল করলে আপনার সব প্রশ্নের উত্তরই পাবেন, কারন আপনিই প্রথম ব্যক্তি না যাদের মনে এই প্রশ্ন আসছে। পরিশেষে, আমি নিজে যদি এই মতোবাদে বিশ্বাসী না হই তাহলে কোনভাবেই আরেকজনকে বিশ্বাস করাতে পারবো না। -শাহরিয়ার ওহ আরও একটা কথা, কমিউনিজমের প্রতি কিন্তু আমার আকর্ষণ আছে, যদিও এই ধারায় কিছু বাগ আছে। সেগুলো বাদে কমিউনিজম খুব একটা খারাপ না :) -- ubuntu-bd mailing list ubuntu-bd@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bd

I thought we were talking in a Linux Mailing list where everyone helping each other out :-/ or am I in a wrong mailing list? The problem you mentioned (boot loader fix) is a very common problem and have been solved more than thousands of time and available through Google. If your not willing to find your own solution no one can help you. You talkin about changing my mentality. I have my first ever laptop installed ubuntu from the first day. My one and only home PC only have Linux, I don't even dual boot... so? and If I buy any laptop that will certainly have Linux from day one ... but what does that implies? The difference between you and me is. I can sense other's minds I can read what others would say. I can tell others problems so I can solve them better. You thought those were just inside my mind. No thats not. When you wanna implement this system I read the minds of the people you gonna face. You don't know anything about my mind or mentality and I certainly not tried to read your mind or even tried to guess your mind. my comment was to those who still blames Linux for the problems that's not its fault (Shahriar bhai also explained it) and this is one topic I have seen discussed over and over, in this mailing list, in many forum, this is the common mentality of the other people you mention of And I don't try to solve anyones problem, then that would be my problem, right? I just try to give the way that would lead to the solution to the problem. So I don't waste time sensing others mind :p I've to say, I've gone through almost every problems I've seen in this mailing list. I solved them using Google and forums. I had a slow Internet connection still I downloaded and installed required stuff. I spent time reading and searching until I found a solution or explanation of the problem. Cause I was willing to give it some time. And Now as I know my ways around it and have a basic understanding of the system I can come around most of these common problems and when you come out of these problem, using Linux is a wonderful experience. The wrong mentality is missing out the Big Picture for smaller details. You are missing it, I'm not. thats what difference between our mentality. ইজম সম্পর্কে অন্যদের ধারণাকে আমি গ্রাহ্য করি বলেই বলেছি। আমার নাম লেনিন দেখে আপনার বোঝা উচিৎ ছিল কমিউনিজম সম্পর্কে নেহাৎ খারাপ জানিনা ;) মোদ্দা কথা আমি ওখানে দ্ব্যর্থকভাবে শব্দ ব্যবহার করেছি যার যেমন বোঝার দরকার বুঝে নিক। ;) আমি ওপেন মাইন্ড বা ওপেন সোর্স যারই প্রফেসি করেন না কেন আপনার কিছু কেরামত, মাজেজা দরকার গণ-মানুষকে তার প্রতি আকৃষ্ট করতে। আমি সেগুলোই খুঁজছি। এখানে যখন এক্সপার্ট রা বলে থাকেন আগে উইন্ডোজ ইনস্টল করবেন পরে উবুন্তু, তখন সেটি সংশোধন করে কেউ লিখেন না। আর আর আমি অফিস থেকে লেখাতে সবকিছু যা ভাবছি তা লিখতে পারছি না। আমি যা নেট থেকে নিতে পারবো আমার ছোট ভাই হয়তো পারবে না। যে উদাহরনটা দিয়েছিলেন এক বন্ধু আপনাকে বললো, You lost a friend এটা দেখেই আমার এতোকিছু লেখা। আপনার বন্ধুকে যখন আপনি ওভাবে treat করবেন তখন হয় আপনাকে জামাতী না হয় কমিউনিস্ট ই ঠাউরাবে। বোঝা গেলো? On 9/7/08, Shahriar Tariq [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: লেনিন ভাই আসলে আপনি যে প্রশ্নগুলো করেছেন বা যে ইস্যুগুলো বলছেন সেগুলো নিয়ে বিভিন্ন সাইটে ফোরামে আলোচনা হয়েছে। কিছু জিনিস বুঝতে হবে। ১) লিনাক্স এবং উইন্ডোজ সম্পূর্ন ভিন্নভাবে কাজ করে। আপনার লিনাক্সের জন্য প্রুফ অব কনসেপ্ট হিসেবে ভাইরাস আছে ঠিক। কিন্তু সেই ভাইরাসগুলো আপনার কম্পিউটারে থাকলেও কিছু হবে না। কারন হচ্ছে আপনাকে ভাইরাসগুলো মাউন্ট করে চালাতে হবে। তাছাড়া এন্টিভাইরাস যেগুলো আছে সেগুলো কিন্তু ডিফল্টভাবে দেয়া থাকে না। কারন এগুলো লিনাক্সের জন্য উদ্দেশ্য করে তৈরি নয়। বরং যারা সাম্বা ব্যবহার করে নেটওয়ার্ক দিয়ে লিনাক্স ও উইন্ডোজ ব্যবহার করে উইন্ডোজ সিস্টেমের যাতে কোন ক্ষতি না হয় সেজন্য এন্টিভাইরাস তৈরি করা হয়েছে। এই এন্টিভাইরাস লিনাক্সের জন্য না বরং উইন্ডোজের জন্যই কোন সূত্র দিলে তা নিয়ে আরেকটু জানুন। ২) লিনাক্স ইনস্টলের পর উইন্ডোজ ইনস্টল করা হলে লিনাক্স লাইভ সিডি দিয়ে বুট করে টার্মিনাল খুলুন এবার sudo grub-update লিখে এন্টার কাজ হবার কথা। না হলে অন্য পদ্ধতিও আছে। ৩) ডেস্কটপ পাবলিশিং আছে বেশকিছু। তবে আপনার কি মনে হয় আপনি খুব সহজে দোকানে লিনাক্স বসাতে পারবেন? এরা উইন্ডোজ ছাড়া কিছু চিনে না। এদের কম্পিউটারে ডুয়েল বুট করে দিলেও এরা উইন্ডোজ ব্যবহার করতে থাকবে। ৪) দুঃখজনক হলেও সত্যি অধিকাংশ মানুষ অন্য ভেন্ডরদের দোষে গাল দেয় লিনাক্সকে। 'আমার ভিডিও কার্ডের ড্রাইভার নেই লিনাক্স সাক্স' 'আমার মডেমের ড্রাইভার নাই লিনাক্স সাক্স'। এই ড্রাইভারগুলো তৈরি করার দায়িত্ব কি লিনাক্স ভেন্ডরের নাকি সেই ডিভাইস মেনুফেকচারের? আপনি জানেন কিনা জানি না তবে এসব অধিকাংশ ডিভাইসের ড্রাইভার প্রস্তুতকারক ছাড়া অন্য কেউ তৈরি করতে পারে না। যেমন এনভিডিয়া ড্রাইভার, এটাতে যতোই সমস্যা হোক লিনাক্সের কেউ এই ড্রাইভারে কোন পরিবর্তন পরিমার্জন আনতে পারবে না। ৫) উবুন্টু তাদের আদর্শের কারনে বিভিন্ন কোডেককে বিভিন্ন ভাগে ভাগ করে আলাদা করে রেখেছে। আমি ব্যক্তিগতভাবে মনে করি এই মতোবাদে কোন সমস্যা নেই। কারন প্রোপ্রাইটোরি এবং রয়ালটি নেয় এমন ফরম্যাট ব্যবহার করার চেয়ে ওপেনসোর্স ফরম্যাট ব্যবহার করা অনেক ভালো। আমি তো আমার বেশ কিছু গান ছবি ওগগ ফরম্যাটে কনভার্ট করে নিয়েছি কোন সমস্যা ছাড়াই। আর যদি আপনার কোডেক শুরু থেকেই দরকার তখন আপনি লিনাক্স মিন্ট ব্যবহার করতে পারেন। লিনাক্স মিন্ট উবুন্টুর উপর ভিত্তি করে তৈরি তারউপর সব কোডেকগুলো বাই ডিফল্ট দেয়া আছে। ভাই এতোক্ষণ যা বললাম সবই কিন্তু বিভিন্ন সাইটে ফোরামে বলা হয়েছে। এরজন্যই আমরা বলে থাকি গুগল ব্যবহার করে দেখুন। গুগল করলে আপনার সব প্রশ্নের উত্তরই পাবেন, কারন আপনিই প্রথম ব্যক্তি না যাদের মনে এই প্রশ্ন আসছে। পরিশেষে, আমি নিজে যদি এই মতোবাদে বিশ্বাসী না হই তাহলে কোনভাবেই আরেকজনকে বিশ্বাস করাতে পারবো না। -শাহরিয়ার ওহ আরও একটা কথা, কমিউনিজমের প্রতি কিন্তু আমার আকর্ষণ আছে, যদিও এই ধারায় কিছু বাগ আছে। সেগুলো বাদে কমিউনিজম খুব একটা খারাপ না :) -- ubuntu-bd mailing list ubuntu-bd@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bd -- ubuntu-bd mailing list ubuntu-bd@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bd

As you said you dont try to sense. You missed it. I cant search much from my office. Though my office pc is also Ubuntu for about 2 months or maybe more. My only pc at home has its monitor burnt recently and I bought a lappy it has only ubuntu on it. I am not willing to install Windows in that. And I am not even a newcomer in Linux OS. I had been using it experimentally from about 1998. And read my latter mail to get the reason behind of my mentioning this sort of points here. You don't know anything about my mind or mentality and I certainly not tried to read your mind or even tried to guess your mind. my comment was to those who still blames Linux for the problems that's not its fault (Shahriar bhai also explained it) and this is one topic I have seen discussed over and over, in this mailing list, in many forum, this is the common mentality of the other people you mention of And I don't try to solve anyones problem, then that would be my problem, right? I just try to give the way that would lead to the solution to the problem. So I don't waste time sensing others mind :p I've to say, I've gone through almost every problems I've seen in this mailing list. I solved them using Google and forums. I had a slow Internet connection still I downloaded and installed required stuff. I spent time reading and searching until I found a solution or explanation of the problem. Cause I was willing to give it some time. And Now as I know my ways around it and have a basic understanding of the system I can come around most of these common problems and when you come out of these problem, using Linux is a wonderful experience. The wrong mentality is missing out the Big Picture for smaller details. You are missing it, I'm not. thats what difference between our mentality. 2008/9/6 আলোকিত [EMAIL PROTECTED] অপেরা নি:সন্দেহে খুবই ভালো ব্রাউজার। তবে ওপেনসোর্স জগতে এ ধরণের অন্ধভক্তি আমার পছন্দ না। ওএস বলুন, সফটওয়্যার বলুন, ব্রাউজার বলুন কোনক্ষেত্রেই নয়, দু:খিত। ভাই যার যার ব্যক্তিগত পছন্দ থাকতেই পারে। তাই বলে কাউকে ফোর্স করা কি উচিত? আমি এখনও ক্রোমে যাবো না কারন এটা বেটা ভার্সন, তার উপর এটার লিনাক্স ভার্সন নেই। ওয়াইন দিয়েও চালানো সম্ভব হয়নি। এখন তো বলা যেতে পারে আমি লিনাক্সের প্রতি অন্ধ ভক্ত বলে লিনাক্স ছেড়ে উইন্ডোজে যাচ্ছি না। ফয়সাল ভাই অপেরাতে স্বচ্ছন্দ বোধ করেন তাই তিনি সবসময়ে অপেরাতে ছিলেন এবং ভবিষ্যতেও থাকবেন বলছেন। এখন অপেরার পরের ভার্সনে সমস্যা হলে বা নতুন কোন ব্রাউজারে বিশেষ কোন ফিচার ওনার প্রয়োজন হলে উনি ব্যবহার করবেন। আমাদের মাঝে একটা জিনিস দেখা যায় সবাই সবকিছু ব্যবহার করে দেখতে চান। পৃথিবীতে যতোকিছু রিলিজ হবে, যতোকিছু নিয়ে কথা হবে ভালো বলা হবে সব ব্যবহার করে দেখতে চান। প্রয়োজন আছে কি নেই সেটা পরে দেখেন। আবার আরেক দল মানুষ আছেন যারা তাদের পরিচিত গন্ডি ছেড়ে যেতে স্বচ্ছন্দ বোধ করেন না। যদি প্রয়োজন পরে তখনই তারা অন্য জিনিস ব্যবহার করেন। একান্ত প্রয়োজন না পরলে তারা অন্য জিনিস ব্যবহার করেন না। এখন সমস্যা হয় যদি এক গ্রুপ আরেকগ্রুপকে নিজেদের দিকে টানার চেষ্টা করে। এক গ্রুপ বলবেন লেটেস্ট এন্ড গ্রেটেস্ট ব্যবহার করা উচিত নাহলে কারেন্ট থাকতে পারবেন না। আরেক গ্রুপ বলবেন আমার প্রয়োজন না পরলে আমি ব্ল্যাকহক হ্যালিকপ্টার কিনে বাসায় রেখে কি করবো। এক গ্রুপের উচিত নয় আরেক গ্রুপকে জোড় করার। আশা করি বুঝবেন -তারিক -- ubuntu-bd mailing list ubuntu-bd@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bd
